Pros and Cons of Homeowners Associations

I am living with my parents in a village where there are rules and regulations that we need to follow. True, because of these rules and regulations, living here has been peaceful and quiet for the last 7 years. It is the same in the US but it is more complex and I will be giving you information about it. It’s important to understand the Homeowners Association or HOA rules, which you have to follow if you purchase a home in an area where there’s HOA.
If you’re looking for a house, you’re likely to come across some properties that are part of a homeowners association, or HOA. PROS
1. Neat and tidy - Most HOAs have rules and regulations about community appearance. A good example of this is segregated trash, lawns are mowed, gardens are kept clean and tidy as well as the streets and sidewalks.
2. Recreational facilities - If you are not a shut-in person and will be willing to leave your room to find something to do outside, HOA provides recreational facilities to choose from such as swimming pools, parks, tennis courts, golf courses, playgrounds and community centers. Clean plus lots of stuff to do, HOA may be your own little paradise on earth.
3. Reduce your responsibilities - Though it means that you need to spend money for payments, the fees you pay to an HOA, commonly goes toward services (like snow removal) and other maintenance that you might otherwise have to fulfill, or contract for, yourself.
CONS
1. Fees, fees and fees - It is the downside of all the amenities and activities that you can enjoy. They don't come for free and you'll need to pay monthly dues on top of the cost of your mortgage, so be sure to consider these factors when deciding whether a HOA home fits into your
