Hockey Training
My training session will take place on a full sized Astroturf hockey
pitch, in an ‘easy to get to’ area. There will be one training session
a week for 6 weeks, each session lasting one and a half hours, between
6:00pm and 7:30pm. Each person who is attending will be issued with a
letter, containing information on the days and times of the sessions.
Also it will contain the equipment needed. All participants should
being shin pads, Astroturf boots/proper hockey shoes, tracksuit in
case of bad weather, a drink of water and some money.
Objectives of the Training Sessions
All participants should:
· Have an understanding of the rules of hockey.
· Accurately be able to pass the ball (long and short pass), shoot,
dribble and tackle.
· Know where the positions are on a hockey field, thoroughly
understand own position.
Week One
Aims for Week One
· Learn the basic rules of hockey.
· Know why we do a warm up and how to perform a warm up.
· Learn a skill or technique, in this week’s case, push passing.
· Know why we do a cool down and how to perform a cool down.
Introduction to the Participants (6:00-6:10)
· Introduce myself and give a brief overview of what we will be doing
in the session.
· Explain the basic essential rules of hockey which must be known to
play, like the ball must not touch the feet, can’t use the back of the
stick.
Warm Up (6:10- 6:25)
The warm up will consist of static and dynamic stretches. Stretching
should be general and specific. General stretching of all of the large
muscles and specific stretching of muscles that are used heavily in a
hockey match.
Static stretches (unassisted stretches in a stationary position)
The participants will be asked to stretch neck, shoulder, arms, core,
upper leg, pelvic areas, leg and feet.
Dynamic Stretches (Stretches with movement)
Small steps, small skips, single knee lift, knees cross, side running,
Due to the increase of popularity of the interscholastic athletic activities on the past few years, several researches process, recommendation, and manuals have been developed by diverse organizations such as the American college of sports medicine, and the national athletic trainer association. These organizations and their members have been working extensively to develop awareness over the importance of providing high quality medical service which can improve the medical outcome of the patient. At the same time, these organization developed regulations to standardize the medical service offered by the sport medicine team; especially by athletic trainers.

Ice hockey is a sport played on ice, often within the confines of a rink. The sport is played with two teams on skates who use sticks to shoot a puck at a net to score, only occurring when the puck gets past the goaltender. The game is played with usually five skaters on the ice, plus the goaltender. Three of these players are usually forwards, while two are defenders. This game moves at a fast pace where players are on the ice for usually 45 seconds at a time before a line change occurs, where the players on the ice come off and a new set of players go on [1]. The offensive line is on the ice to get the puck to the other team’s zone and shoot on the goaltender. The defensive line is on the ice to protect the goaltender and

This report is going to be on the game Ice hockey. A game of hockey is divided into three twenty minute time periods that are called periods. Between each period there is a fifth teen minute intermission. In hockey there are several ways a game may end if there is a tie at the end of regulation. The pros use one twenty sudden death period in which the first to score is the winner. In the amateurs they use a shoot out in which five players from each team are selected and allowed to go one on one with the opposing goalie and which ever team scores the most goals after all five members for both teams have taken their shot they are the winners. If there is a tie after this it keeps repeating until a winner is crowned.
In this paper I will be looking at an article called The Over Training Syndrome, which was written in 1994. I will be comparing the information in the article with the content from the week 6 Qualifying Sports Training lecture. This will be done by directly quoting the article, then the lecture and having a short discussion on the quoted point. The four areas of comparison will be; the definition of overtraining, the cause of overtraining, the effects of over training, and the recovery time from overtraining. The goal of this paper is to discuss the advancement in knowledge over the last twenty years in these four points on overtraining.

To achieve a degree in Athletic Training, there are many tasks and skills to be learned. The Education Council under the National Athletic Training Association put together an education program filled with a set of guidelines of what has to be taught to graduate with a degree in Athletic Training. Before you can learn and understand Athletic Training, you must know the Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. This includes bones, muscles, levels of organization, tissue levels, systems of the body, skeletal structure, articulations, integrative functions, sensory function, blood, and embryology (Martini, 2001). Besides Anatomy and Physiology, the methods of taping is also extremely critical to this career. Before you can understand what each taping techniques are used for, you must also know about sports injuries. Athletic Training is all about the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and evaluation of athletic injuries. Another skill that must be learned in the Athletic Training Education Program is how to provide immediate emergency care. That includes everything from background information to actually being able to save an athlete’s or any one else’s life. You must be aware of legal considerations, how and when to approach a victim, the human body systems, examining the victim, basic life support, bleeding and shock, identifying wounds, sudden illnesses, injuries, and how to care for them; also you must be aware of cold and heat related injuries, and how to rescue and move victims (Thygerson, 2001). Other information to be learned includes nutrition, health, and professional development. There are several other topics of Athletic Training; however, there are just to many to s...
When I am 30 I would like to become a physical therapist, which is a certified health care professional, which practices in the field of sports medicine. I chose this career because throughout high school it became a very appealing job that I would want to get into, and I had done a job shadow and had received treatment for injuries before from an athletic trainer. The salary cap low for the job is $35,000 to a high of $75,000 per year. Most athletic trainers have 4 years of college education and a bachelor’s degree, and job training from a health care professional.

This very morning marked the beginning of the high school hockey season for the 2016-2017 year. At the tryout this morning we used a radar gun, and my slapshot got tracked at 78 miles per hour. Using the conversion factor of 1 mile per hour is equal to 0.44704 meters per second, when I multiplied 0.44704 meters per second by 78 miles per hour, the velocity of my shot in meters per second came out to 34.8691 meters per second. This conversion connects to physics that we have done in class, as in the beginning of the year we learned about conversion factors, such as 1 mile per hour equals 0.44704 meters per second, and in class we did many problems that used conversion factors such as this one. In regard to problems using conversion factors,

A warm-up activity is defined as a low-level activity that is completed prior to stretching and more strenuous exercise (Avest, 2010). The main purpose of a warm-up activity is to increase heart rate and blood circulation throughout the body. When blood circulation is increased throughout the body, a raise in body and deep muscle temperatures are elevated which in return heat up the muscles, ligaments and tendons in preparation for vigorous activity. Along with increasing blood circulation and body temperature, warm-up activities also helps one mentally and emotion...
