Colin Powell suggests that “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.” I appreciate this quote because it summarizes my academic and social experience in High School. Throughout my high school career, I have grown from a uninvolved, laid back student, who did not care much about his studies, to a student achieving great academic heights, and not only getting involved in the community, but becoming a leader. I have aquired wonderful leadership characteristics, communication skills, and volunteer experience. My objective is to pursue a career in the field of ___________. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in many different clubs. During my freshman and sophomore year, I was in clubs such as the Academy of Engineering, tech club, DECA, and tee-shirt design club. I found myself joining clubs but not taking on leadership roles as I should be. As a Junior, I truly showed myself how much of a leader I can be. I donate a lot of my time with the Mallard Creek Optimist Club, whether I would be serving as a camp counselor during summer camps, participating in community park cleanup, or serving dinner to the sick and elderly, I have always been there to help. One of my most proudest achievements with the Optimist Club was winning the ‘Reel Optimism Video Contest’. The ‘Reel Optimism Video Contest’ consisted of a small group of individuals who worked together, directing and editing a short film about a service event we did for our community. Receiving first place in the video contest earned my optimist club a $1,000 grant.
