The National Honor Society

It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society. Character is often the setting stone on what a person is judged upon. For someone to have character, they must noticeably stand out, and do extraordinary tasks that a normal student would not usually do. From school activities to sports clubs, I myself carry unique characteristics that set me apart from other students.

In the past, I have volunteered for our bands fundraiser every Christmas, which we host at our high school. It is a unique moment in time, to see the joy of children's faces as they walk into the school that morning for Breakfast with Santa. Being able to put on a performance for those children that morning brings joy to my heart and keeps me coming back each year. Another event is the Special Olympics held in Houghton Lake. Students from our school every year go and help setup and run the Special Olympics. Helping out and getting to talk to participants is an honor and has created new relationships with people. I want to be able to give even more back to my wonderful community through the National Honor Society by volunteering and helping as much as I can. Meeting new people, and helping them in ways that can change their life can have a permanent effect on one's self, and NHS opens that

Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society. In conclusion, character, leadership, scholar, and service are all characteristics upon which I hold. Being considered to join NHS with my classmates is a huge honor and I will put forth hard work into keeping up my grades as well as helping in my community. I hope to gain as much knowledge as I can from NHS and be a role model for anyone in the upcoming grades, who wish to be in NHS. Thank
