Throughout my high school career I have maintained an above perfect grade point average, joined multiple extra curricular activities, and volunteered for several years. Having this diverse pool of activities has made me a leader, a better student, a well rounded person, and has also helped me develop long lasting friendships.
I have achieved significant academic accomplishments that I am extremely honored of. I have maintained a 4.042 grade point average, have lettered in academics every year, and I have challenged myself with weighted honors classes like Honors Algebra II, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Pre-Calculus. In addition to these honors courses, I have taken multiple dual enrollment classes with the University of Northern Colorado

Apart from academics, I have also immersed myself into other activities around the school and my community. Over the duration of my high school career, I have earned a music letter every year, and I have been involved in the Marching Band for four years, Concert Band for four years, Jazz Ensemble for three years, Jazz Combo for two years, Patriot League Symphonic Honor Band for three years, and Combined League Honor Band for one year. As a freshman, I was chosen as the saxophone section leader over any upperclassmen because of the way I distinguished myself in my practice and devotion. I have also auditioned and won the position of saxophone, clarinet, and flute section leader in the Marching Band since my sophomore year. Being a section leader in the marching band includes mentoring band members in my section, running rehearsals, and sharing my knowledge about the saxophone with my band members. Having this opportunity sparked leadership in me that I had never experienced before. My extracurricular participation does not stop at the band room, as I have participated in both yearbook and National Honor
Where I learned how to become a leader through the leadership ensemble within the marching band. Where in my senior and fourth year of marching competitively, I became the Drum Major, and earned the Best Drum Major Award at the Roxbury Marching Band Classic Competition. From marching band I progressed into jazz music, where I became the lead alto saxophonist in the top jazz band at my school during my junior and senior year. I was also one of three saxophonists in the top band at my school. I picked up the clarinet, the flute, and the soprano saxophone on my way through high school, and have played all three as well in my performing ensembles. I played in the pit orchestra of the theater production of “All Shook Up”, and was the principal saxophonist at my high school. Too be short, I am very involved in all things music in the past and currently. Band and music have been a place for me to rely on, something that brings me joy when sad. Allows me to express myself through sounds and through instruments. I have done so by participating in numerous activities, and when I commit to something, I put all my effort into it, to the fullest extent of my ability. This allows me to be able to meet and cultivate relationships with new people at Roswell High School that I would not have met otherwise. In forming these newfound friendships, I have been able to mature socially and emotionally; I learned to nurture my ability to empathize with others and to express my care and compassion for others more easily. This has allowed me to realize my true heart for people, and I have used these skills, along with my enthusiasm and sense of humor, to encourage an environment of school pride.
I have maintained a 4.35 weighted GPA throughout my four years at Payette High School, while taking and succeeding in the most challenging classes offered, such as Honors Calculus, D.C. Chemistry 111, D.C. English 4, and Physics. I have been awarded with the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, and Payette’s parade of champion honor all four years (For having above a 4.0 GPA). My proudest accomplishments though have come through my club, sport, and community service involvement. The activity that had the most impact on was participating in The American Legion Gem Boys State program over the summer of 2017. I learned a great amount about the procedures and role of politics in this country, and it spiked my interest in political science. I am the current Senior Class President of Payette High School, and have been in student council every year since 6th grade, and I am thankful that my classmates have trusted me enough over the years to elect me for this honor. I am involved with the Payette DECA chapter, which competes in competitions based around business management, finance, and marketing skills. I began to play the trumpet in the fifth grade and have fell in love with it ever since. I have learned not only playing skills from band, but also how to meet others and find shared interests in our lives that may not have been noticeable at first glance. I have been able to make the ATSSB Region band every year of high school, and have used my playing skills to branch out to others. Through band I have also built my leadership skills as section leader of my band. By leading in two different areas I have learned how to balance responsibilities and also make sure tasks are accomplished. While in high school, I have been able to achieve different high achievements. These include the National Honor Society and the Hispanic Honor Society. I have been able to join these two through the hard work and dedication I put into my schoolwork as well as extracurricular activities. Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
I have participated in the school’s marching band for four years has a member of the color guard. The last two years I have even earned a leadership position. From being in marching band, I have learned the ability to look for a bigger picture in things. For instance, something that may not seem clear now may take a true shape in time. I have also gained working experience through my two lifeguarding jobs from the last three years. I have learned how “size up” a situation and see how to properly deal with a problem. I have also learned, through both commitments, how to time manage myself and both achieve in activity/work and in school. I believe that through these experiences, I can bring a different perspective to the Honors Program’s community and help better it in any way possible.
Now I will be attending high school the stress that I needed to do good so that I can get accepted to college and make my parents dream come true was overwhelming. I knew from my teacher said that college was looking for well rounded. So I decided that I need to join as much clubs and activities that I can. The four year at Verbum Dei High School has truly modeled this idea. There were clubs that I truly enjoyed being apart like ASB (Associate Student Body), Mayor Youth Council, Ambassador. I have always loved music. But I haven’t always been sure that music is the right path for me. I attend a small school, however we have one of the largest high school bands in our region. Our marching band is vastly more popular than our football team, and consequently is held to a much higher standard. However, being apart of such a large and intense marching band does have its challenges.
Let’s start with my elementary years. I went to B.H. Grimes Elementary frim pre-k up until fifth grade which I graduated from. I was a honor roll student throughout all seven years of elementary. I was an U.I.L participant from third through fifth grade. I also was a part of the cheer during fourth and fifth grade. I also was in an after school enrichment chess club.
Along my journey of attending high school, I have participated in multiple things including dance, art classes, and track. Entering my freshman year, I did not take any honors courses that my high school offered, which made me realize that I need to work hard and maintain high grades in my classes. As a result of my past year of tedious efforts, my sophomore year I was selected into Bayonne High School's outstanding “Academy and Fine Arts”. As I excelled through my academic career through the Academy, I was put through the painstaking task of maintaining high grades within rigorous courses. However, my hard work and accomplishments did not conclude with this, I was recently accepted into The National Honors Society, Rho Kappa Omega Society, World Language Honors Society, and English Honors Society. In high school I was the most predictable student in the entire student body. When teachers would take roll, they could always count on one thing: me not being there. My grades were horrible. My accumulative grade point average was below 1.0. I had no interest in school and kept junkie friends. These so-called friends would often skip school and would pressure me to do drugs. I was already puffing away on cigarettes by the time my junior year rolled around, and my future looked pretty bleak. During my senior year, I decided it was time for a drastic change. I took a brave step and tried out for the Camas High School Cheerleading Team. I made the team and became a student athlete. I was destined to graduate. Through my experience, I believe that involvement in athletics improves academics by providing students with better physical and mental health, thus insuring the athletic student a successful future.
My involvement in activities through Center Point-Urbana High School have been a major force in shaping my character over the last four years. While observing my peers, who I have shared experiences with in the various sports teams, musical groups, and clubs, I have been shown what it means to make the most out of life. There are many people that I have met who view high school as their time to relax before college. My belief is that high school is intended to be the launch pad that you jump off of before you venture into college. This is why I try to be involved in every activity made available to me. In order to make the most of my high school years, I want to experience as many things as I can and meet as many people as possible in the process.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. The middle of one’s high school career is an important time to look back on the ways he has grown and ways in which he can improve in the future. Jesuit has developed a student profile which contains five main areas in which a student should be competent in at the time of his graduation. This profile is a great way to help students stay on the right path and it begins to pave the way for future success. In my three years at Jesuit, I feel that I have progressed most in the areas of becoming more open to growth and becoming more loving towards my family and friends.
