I would easily say that training other people, especially those that struggle with it, is my absolute passion. I wrote about it for my essay to get in here, describing it as my most fulfilling, rewarding experience in high school. I first heard about the position while studying staff lists and seeing recondo CIC as one of the wing positions. After finding out what they do, I thought it aligned exactly with what I always loved to do in high school and it was always in the back of my mind as what I’d apply for when I got the chance. I also have one friend from high school who comes to the Air Force Academy and he is currently a squadron recondo CIC and says he loves it as well.

My father used to own a gym and all the equipment moved into our garage when he closed the gym. My entire life I’ve had a full, quality gym just feet away. Workouts started under the instruction of my father who passed down everything he learned from owning a gym to my brothers and sister. In high school, the fitness of my brother and I was somewhat of our defining trait. It was what we were most known for. Questions popped in from every angle, not just about building workouts but nutrition and dieting as well. We used to spend hours every day constructing “the perfect workout” for each of these people who would come. My favorite thing to do however was to watch during the first few classes at the beginning of each semester and find the ones where it was apparent they had never set foot in a gym. Those were the kids I would approach and “take under my wing” as I called it. I would always have 2-4 people who were my “projects”. My goal would to be that by the end of the semester they were self-sufficient with working out, had a passion for working out so that they’d want to continue, and that they accomplished the goal I asked them to set out before we began. At the end of the day while waiting for my swim bus I would return to the gym and workout with kids on the track/cross country team who were aiming to add muscle to their runner’s bodies. Outside of school, we would have people referred to us who had their own fitness goals and we would write programs for them too and invite them to come to our home gym so we could walk them through it. All in all, I would say my experience with building, instructing, and leading workouts is thorough and diverse, I’ve made and taught workouts that sought to challenge the already extremely fit, those with no workout experience at all, those thought they were too skinny, those who were obese and morbidly obese, those who were preparing to join the military, and those
