In the article “Fitness Culture: A Growing Trend in America by Sheila McClain, it speaks in detail why American have increased their interest in health and fitness. Sheila conducts a comprehensive research of the subject and provides strong statics and information from others. Since, we are an age of technology and everyone is more involved in learning we have learned that fitness matters and is a key link to good health. Sheila’s article come across knowledgeable because of her research such as “fitness club membership according to the International Health, Racquet and sports club Association, jumped from 20 million in 1991 to over 40 million in 2006”. and statics make an article strong and provide strength. Though, I agree with Sheila’s friend when she stated “fitness culture is fueled by women who are less interested in reducing their stress, improving their health, or joining a community that they are in wanting to look like the idealized images of celebrities”. This paragraph of the article was the weakest. If the person is not a subject specialist that opinion or statement is irrelevant. Sheila’s completes her article by stating that we will all eventually be joining a fitness gym, because we are becoming increasingly aware of fitness. I have determined that Sheila is one of those gym members that enjoys working out and needs that community of support that a gym provides. At the end of the day, we live in a society that blast good health, and fitness. All those message will drive us all to want ourselves to be in better health. Better health means longer life and we all want a longer life. Science and data and proven that fitness will provides with a better health, if you showed Americans that pizza cured cancer everyone would each pizza. “Crowds go, where crowds are”!

Exercise Science is a field of work that is valued by many. There are different paths for different kind of people whether they are interested in personal training, physical therapy, or even some kind of sports coach. The route I would like to take would be Exercise Science for Athletic Training. I want to be an Athletic Trainer because growing up, I loved playing and watching sports. I played baseball for about 2 years, ran track for 3, and played basketball my entire life. After my high school career, I knew that I could not stay involved in sports because all of the injuries I have experienced so I decided I wanted a job that is behind the scenes but still rooted in athletics.
The gym is a place where a typical American college student goes to work out their bodies. This is partially by choice being on the swim team requires the strength training equipment that is available to our disposal in the gym. In the American Culture we have adapted many ways of the Greek and Roman Empires. Our society has the laid back lifestyle of the Greeks and the physical fitness of the Romans. Statistics show 45 percent of Americans set a goal every year to achieve weight loss/fitness. Of that 45 percent, and just under half of Americans still maintain their New Year’s Resolution (Hub Pages). The question is why is weight-loss so important in America? There are many answers and factors that play into figuring out the equation. One factor is the increase of obesity in our country year in and year out. Other key factors is the impact of media on our culture to look slim and be sexy, and even children’s toy figures have become more masculine and unrealistic. Although our society is becoming more accepting that not everyone can be a Barbie and Ken or resemble characters from our favorite action figures, the combination of these major factors help answer the equation to why weight loss has become so prevalent in our society today.

It is commonly known that everyone should spend at least one hour a day getting some sort of exercise. Being physically in shape can overall reduce health risks and expand one’s own life span in a positive way. As being a college student who works out daily, I completely agree with this statement because exercising has brought upon me adequate amount of health benefits as well as bestow positive mentality. It has been also reported that many elderly adults has been told by doctors to exercise as often as possible, for it helps reduce problems such as heart diseases, cholesterol and even cancer. Many younger adults also participate in exercising daily to achieve the toned or muscular body that they desire. This makes perfect sense because I don’t know one person who doesn’t want a well-defined six pack, especially when it comes to beach season.
