1. What I learned from the video is that the factors which influence health are multiple and interactive. Essentially health promotion for the entire public is concerned with action (i.e. making the polio vaccine readily available for all persons) and advocacy(pushing for change with in government for more effect health care legislation, as well as implementing health care policy ) all these are necessary to address the full range of potentially modifiable determinants of health. Depending on the situation these resources may have a classroom instructional focus or a counselling focus (in school or in the community). Such a comprehensive plan to health promotion and prevention would be more effective if it is linked to other comprehensive programs with the community .Cross program interaction when dealing with prevention is important to the success of the prevention program I would implement with the school as positive outcome are more likely. Since the students come from such differing backgrounds outside school extracurricular activities aimed at reducing risk factors outside of the key would be necessary as well. It is ultimately staff and students who will bring positive change to the school community; by ensuring that the inter/intra school programs are being utilized. “Healthy People provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans.” ( United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 , 2011). It acts as a national guide for disease prevention and health promotion. There are various objectives and goals which serve as the guideline to achieve overall improvement in health . ‘Educational and Community-Based Programs’ is one of them. According to U.S Department of Health and Human Services the main goal of these programs is to “Increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational and community-based programs designed to prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance quality of life.” (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2011). This particular goal of Healthy People 2020 focuses on increasing the number educational and community based programs to increase awareness about disease prevention and health among every individual of the society. It focuses on educating them on various topics including chronic diseases, substance abuse, prevention of injury and violence to encourage and enhance health. It emphasizes on increasing the quantity and quality of such programs so that a larger population could benefit from the program and gain effective knowledge to achieve a healthy life.
Safe staffing issue has been identified as one of the problem in health care. The problem resulted from the inappropriate ratio between the nurse and the number of patients a nurse takes care within a shift. The purpose of the scholarly paper part two is to demonstrate the completion of the evidence-based homeless health promotion project; it is specific to the population living in Miami, Florida. Planning of a prevention program is important as it increases the chances of achieving the desired results. It ensures that all involved are on the same page and driven for the same outcome. When everyone involved is working towards the same goal and the outline is laid out, changes can be made if necessary. When planning a program it is important to identify the risk and protective factors within the community. This will help you come up with approaches or strategies that can assist in resolving issues. Creating a data-driven plan will ensure all avenues are explored, resource and readiness gaps are identified and the cultures within the community are acknowledged. Decisions and actions taken regarding the planning of the program must include all the ideas and thoughts of all involved in the project. Implementation is when your plan is put into action. Sometimes, when implementing a prevention program, adaptation needs to occur to adjust to budget, time and staffing restraints. It is important to remember the fidelity, or integrity of the initial program you sought to create. The more the original program is adhered to, it is more likely to be a successful venture. An action plan should be drawn up which will describe how you plan to implement the program. It will explain the desired outcome of the plan, ways in which you wish to achieve those results, and who is responsible for what task. Wellness incorporates the spiritual, emotional and social wellbeing of an individual. When it came to thinking, planning and developing my SMART goal I decided to focus on my physical health as this was an area that I needed to improve the most and would also contribute positively to my spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual and environmental wellbeing aswell. In this reflective essay I will discuss and reflect on this journey. This reflection will include why I decided to focus on this specific SMART goal aswell as how I found the SMART goal journey. I will then discuss my own view on my attitudes for health and wellness and will discuss what a SMART goal is and the importance of them in order to start working towards those goals and to positively change behaviours and habits. This reflection will also include challenges that may be experienced in relation to behaviour change. These may include time management and motivation.
