While many people embrace change and technology, many other people are big opponents of having such technology brought into our classrooms. Those who oppose education entering into a technological world with the iPad believe there could be damage to the students’ health, such as internet addiction, depression, or vision problems. Those opponents also believe that such a device is too pervasive and this younger generation is simply a tablet-carrying, smart-phone obsessed, technologically dependent world. They believe that our students would receive much benefit from less exposure to devices, not more (Harlan, 2012).
Some of these same opponents make us aware that there are other limitations to having devices such as the iPad in the classroom. One limitation is the cost. Those who argue about the cost make a reasonable argument. A device alone could be anywhere from 200-500 dollars. This cost is before even considering the cost of apps or accessories that are needed to get the best use in the classroom. Some may argue that children can not learn information like they do from a textbook. There is also the issue that some people may believe that reading ability may decrease because student wouldn’t be reading to learn any longer. In a study done by the Department of Education, it was found that if we incorporate such technology in the classroom, it does not influence the amount of learning that takes place in the classroom, but it did increase the level of engagement of the students (Means, Toyama, Murphy, Bakia & Jones, 2010). Technology continues to grow and become part of everyday Life. However, more often times than not it becomes an obsession; many are consumed by the latest technological advances. People become inclined to develop addictive tendencies by never turning off or placing their devices on silent. Many agree the modern devices have helped to improve daily life at home and work. As part of today’s culture revolves around technological advancements such as phones, iPad’s; these devices are what is handed to children not as a learning tool but to distract them. Technology is a part of today’s generation; and children will continue to grow with technology, thus having a detrimental effect on their cognitive function, sociocultural and their well-being.
One of the teachers states how she was skeptical in the beginning because it is difficult for teachers to monitor students when technology is involved, but the use of iPads in the classroom is now appealing to her. Students who are interviewed provide convincing arguments in favor of the technology. They claim that the iPads are “eco-friendly,” “help with organization skills” because they cannot lose or forget assignments or books, and “are really easy to use” (Morristown High School). The video effectively communicates the intended message through the use of personal comments from students, concrete examples, and insight from the perspective of teachers.

Do you find iPads usefu? More than 170 million iPads have been sold these days. They have become an indispensable device for many people like students, officers why is this yellow, and workers. I believe that using an iPad is easier and better than using papers to learn at school. During my http://youtu.be/sizz7XBooNA years of attending school, I have always found it much more convenient to read books on iPads instead on paper books, to type essays rather than write them by hand. Also, to not have to carry heavy stacks of textbooks around and also that it can be edited or rewritten easily. We should require to use iPads for education. IPads is not only uncompliacated and productive, it is portable,afoo, and you can learn more information than text books.
Mobile phones, iPads, e-readers, and other technologies are seen almost in all educational fields, and they are making students shallow thinkers. Technology has made a revolutionary change in the accessibility of information. However, what comes easy would not last, and what will last would not come easy. Though technology in education has not been used for many years; it has contributed terrible effects on students more than benefits. Technology in education is negative because it makes students shallow thinkers, and it distracts students from focusing on their academic life.

Do you ever think about how much technology has changed the way we work, learn, play, and even think? Technology is a major beneficiary to society; especially in the classroom where we get the opportunity to learn and grow. In recent years, schools have begun implementing tablets and other devices in the classroom to better student’s education. The use of technology in the classroom provides more of a personalized learning experience and gives students a widespread availability to engage in learning. Technology is necessary in today’s modern globe, it is basically “the pen and paper of our time and the lens through which we experience much of our world” (Warlick, 2013). Technology is not just considered the “internet”, it is so much greater than that. Overall, it enhances the quality of education and engages students deeper than ever before. With all the significant gains, why would people argue that technology hinders students more than it helps? Critics may try to repute the use of technology in the classroom but I believe what really matters “is the way we use it, the context that we use it in, and the learners who we use it for” (Chong, 2012).
Technology has rapidly changed over the years and has expanded our infrastructure greatly. In particular, as technology advances the education system adapts to the many changes. The world of technology brings about many new improvements and shows no sign of slowing down. As more people began to access the Internet through smart phones and tablets rather than laptops and computers, it is not a surprise that they would also want to transform the American education system by bringing tablets into classrooms. In fact, a few schools around the country have already replaced textbooks with tablets and have seen improvements in students’ standardized test scores. Using tablets instead of textbooks is not only convenient and helpful, but it can also reduce the amount of paper wastes in school. However, it is not a good idea to completely transform textbooks with tablets with the current technology, for it can not only be damaging to the environment and costly to set up, but also might not be effective in improving K-12 education in the long run.
