As our generation continues to progress, technology also takes its course with us. Current day technology can provide an excellent aid for scholars attending school or even big named companies and businesses. On an average, most schools in America use textbooks to teach their students. This may be the default way for decades, but that should be changed soon as technological advances are coming in tact. Although it may just be a small handheld device, it can pack a punch for its size and can out win an old textbook anyday. Tablets enable scholars to branch out to many other school resources than just their textbooks.
To begin with, not only do tablets serve as an alternative for textbooks, it also serves a replacement for most of the school supplies and material needed in school. Imagine not rushing every morning to find your textbooks anymore as you know that all your textbooks are safely kept on your portable device. Going to school and class would be a breeze as there would be no hassle or bundle of books to carry. In addition, it also serves as resources for students to use. Most tablets hold apps that allow students to access the dictionary, thesaurus, research information, and etc. These functions will aid students and hopefully speed up the process classroom activities, since the teacher now won’t be bombarded with students who need help on the definition of a word, or where to find more information about a certain subject they are

currently learning about.
Secondly, adding tablets to schools can greatly decrease the costs of paper supplies needed and relieve the school’s budget. School Districts around America have suffer low budget costs, but if tablets were implemented in schools costs for sheets of paper an...

...ting system and customized the system to their liking. This just shows greatly to us that if children in Ethiopia who have little to no knowledge of current day technology can dissect a tablet and “crack its code”, then the current generation of students in America who’ve been engulfed around technology all their life, can easily access the device and fully use its features.
In conclusion, it is clear that its time to live in the future. Tablets have so many options and resources that can improve a students learning experience from aiding them in homework, research projects, to allowing them to type their own essays. If we were to keep to the defaultl ways of using textbooks, our generation would never completely experience the great invention of our generation. With saying this, when will the change for tablets take in effect, or will it ever be taken in effect?
In addition, textbooks are heavy to carry around and it takes longer to find a page. Likewise with digital textbooks they are compatible with tablets, smartphones, and laptops; it’s much easier to carry around and affordable price. However, some people may argue that digital textbooks can be a distraction for people because they would not bother read anymore. The author and poet Dana Gioia argues that electronics alternatives may be a bad influence that will lead society to not read anymore. Gioia complicates matters further when she writes, “While no single activity is responsible for the decline in reading, the cumulative presence and availability of electronic alternatives increasingly have drawn Americans away from reading” (161). I think Gioia is mistaken because she overlooks on electronics being a bad influence; but doesn’t see the benefits of electronics. To demonstrate, most of my textbooks are digital, which I can easily carry my tablet around where ever I go. Also, I save more money on digital textbooks and are simple to annotated the text. Journalist Ellen Lee interview a student from Liberty University, and he states that he prefers digital textbooks because he can tap his iPad, opens the digital copy and quickly open the page. Nevertheless, he also like digital textbooks because it has a feature that allows to highlight and mark the
One obvious alternative, which would thrill many teachers, would be to replace pens, pencils, paper, and the like with computer systems of one sort or another. Estimations have been made that computer systems at the school could be provided for as little as $800 per student including Internet access and basic maintenance. ('Computing Edge';, John Beecham, 1997) This approach would have many advantages, including the fact that our schools would be releasing children with at least a basic knowledge of how to operate a computer system, this in turn would make it much easier to learn to operate other, more complicated and more advanced systems, which would give our students needed job skills in today's information age.
It can cause many distractions, it can be difficult to use and can take away from learning time. People are convinced that technology is an effective tool that will further learning. This can be true, but when you use tablets and different devices in class for an hour every day, the students will not be focused on schoolwork. In the article “Technology in the Classroom: Beginnings and Endings”, Mary Ann Matras suggests that, “The pencil is still the most efficient tool”.

...bulary compared to those who had no or less exposure to iPads. This is yet another solid reason why our country should be disallowing the use of devices in schools for students up to the age of seven.
Tablets can help improve the way students attain their studies. According to Cam Lincoln “Students who used the iPad version of the textbook scored 20 percent higher on standardized test versus students who learned with traditional textbook”(parag.2).This demonstrates that, students who used the iPad version of the textbook learned more effectively than the students who learned with traditional textbooks. The iPad clearly shows that it can help improved test scores. According to National Association for the Education of Young Children “for children with minimal exposure to technology or limited engli...
Paper has officially been replaced with iPads. Just kidding, but there are over 1.5 million iPads that are being used in classrooms by students on a daily bases rather than using printed textbooks as main learning resources (Graduating With Technology). With recent advancements in technology, many school districts have turned the focus off traditional learning methods of using textbooks, and are now focusing on integrating the use of tablets and computers as the main means of learning for students. Technology is going to continue to advance throughout this digital age and is going to gain popularity within education, but there are questions arising of how effective technology is when used in the classroom. The opportunity of using new technology to enhance learning should be seized, but textbooks should not become extinct within the education system or become a secondary learning method due to tablets and other types of technology becoming more popular in the education system.
As more people began to access the Internet through smart phones and tablets rather than laptops and computers, it is not a surprise that they would also want to transform the American education system by bringing tablets into classrooms. In fact, a few schools around the country have already replaced textbooks with tablets and have seen improvements in students’ standardized test scores. Using tablets instead of textbooks is not only convenient and helpful, but it can also reduce the amount of paper wastes in school. However, it is not a good idea to completely transform textbooks with tablets with the current technology, for it can not only be damaging to the environment and costly to set up, but also might not be effective in improving K-12 education in the long run.
Tablets that are bought for schools or purchased by the families themselves would make a great impact in schools. Tablets would be better than textbooks because they are way lighter than them. With having heavy textbooks, students can have back and shoulder issues. When there is 3 or 4 or even more heavy textbooks in hand, the students can have issues by the time they graduate.
Tablet computer, which comes with a touch screen interface, wireless and portable personal computer has increased in popularity throughout the years. At the same time, which many salesperson are employ and had already adopted the use of tablets in their daily life and sales. As tablets become more popular with employees worldwide, notice that salespeople are easily the most likely to request a tablet for work purposes. Besides, salespeople are the most connected in the workforce. Most often they tend to make the most phone calls and more often with a need for quick access to information and presentations. Last but not least, tablets are proving to be highly effective selling tools in the market and helpful for travelling
Taking a look at the evolution of society as a whole, structures from previous social organizations vary drastically from the civilization individuals reside in today; now known as a 'market society.' It has shifted towards a society where members of the community are now solely concerned about economic relations, rather than interpersonal relations. This is what Karl Polanyi refers to the emergence of market society as "the great transformation." The shift towards a market society is characterized by the emergence of a self-regulation society, allowing the birth of fictitious commodities, as well as placing great emphasis towards individualism. It focuses on the significant changes that have taken place since the transformation, which are
A school with 100 teachers uses on average 250,000 pieces of paper annually. A school of 1,000 students spends anywhere from 3,000 to 4,000 a month on paper, ink and toner. tablets can take a lot of that paper away. if students used tablets not only would they save trees but they would also save an average of 250 dollars per students which is the average cost of textbooks for students, but they would also save a lot of trees. If students switch to tablets instead of textbooks a lot of money would be saved which could go toward other things like fundraising for sports and transportation for after school activities like tutoring and clubs.
A recent article posted by Brian Jensen on April 4, 2013 in Edudemic talks about Maine’s Auburn School District initiative in implemented a program that equipped all of its kindergarten students with an iPad. The results show that “9 of the 10 pre-reading tests given to students in the middle of the school year, the 129 students with iPads made
The twenty-first century has arrived, and it has brought some of the most advanced computing technologies into the classroom; this leaves us with a very important question, do we really need technology, such as iPads or computers, implemented in our learning plans? As a student that has taken entire courses on iPads or computers, I can tell you that the former is not the case. There are plenty of reasons to teach about technological advances in each individual field of learning, but, more often than not, technology is unreliable and distracting for students. Not to mention that methods of maintenance rehearsal, like taking notes by hand, are more effective for recollection of information than staring into a screen. The bottom line is, using technology as a tool for education in the classroom is not necessary because it can inhibit the way students learn material.
Tablets are not the most powerful gadgets but they are the most convenient, they screen size overpower the smartphones. The life battery of tablets are better than phones this allow users to perform work or personal related task without connected to the battery or staying at one place. Given the advantages tablets are great for work task that involve lots of movement than computer, but they are many types of tablets this comes as IPad, android, and windows 8 tablet which is now upgraded to windows 10. Before considering buying tablets for a large organization like Hospital they are many fact that need to be taken in to consideration like the pros and cons of each tablet hardware device, capability to connect to peripherals devices, and Security issues.
