As we were sitting there waiting for the kids to come in for class, I had very little expectations for a 2nd grade PE class. I expected it to be madness with the kids running around and not listening to Mr. Howard, their teacher. However, when they stepped into the gym, they surprised me greatly. I did not expect to see what happened and as the class went on, I was amazed by how the class was ran. As the kids stepped into the gym, they got right into the warmup without Mr. Howard saying a word. This is what shocked me the most. Every kid listened and respected Mr. Howard when he was talking or giving direction throughout the game. Effort was also a huge part in class that day. All the kids gave their best effort in the game in hope they were victorious. Even if they got out right away the first game, their effort for the second game was the same as the first game. No one ever got down on themselves and gave it all they had every game. They all had a good sense of self-direction when they got out of the game. Each kid guided themselves to the jump ropes and began to jump until the next game was starting. They didn't have to ask what to do when they were no longer apart of the game. The last TPSR level of caring and helping wasn't displayed too much throughout class. Since it was an individual game, there wasn't any helping done throughout it. However, there was a little bit of caring displayed at the end of class. When it came down to the last two kids in the last game, Mr. Howard had the class pick sides.
