Group A - Education and the developing world My perspective on education and development has broadened based on the information presented. Global inequalities are present in numerous undeveloped countries and have a negative impact on its citizens. Citizens are faced with numerous challenges on a daily basis. For instance, their essential needs are not being met and are at risk of contracting infectious diseases. Also, I learned about the various theories such as modernization theory, dependency theory, world systems theory, and post-colonial theory. I found the dependency theory interesting because it made me think about their argument that the reason for underdevelopment lie in external factors. This theory argues that these countries …show more content…
To be honest this is my first collaborative Jigsaw Wiki which initially I felt very nervous about. I felt nervous about completing this assignment because I was unsure how I would communicate with my team member. However, as the time went by I realized that it was fun and enlightening. The first thing I learned about participating in this collaborative presentation has permitted me to learn about online collaboration. For instance, we were all able to contribute our own key points on the chapter 5 and collaborate to put it together. Furthermore, the second thing I learned was that working in collaboration helped to establish an atmosphere of cooperation. I was able to reach out to with my group members if I needed support. The third thing that I learned was the benefits of online collaboration. Brandman Universtiy permits us to collaborate with one another on a weekly basis. However, this was the first assignment that I have completed that required several of my peers and me to work on a presentation. Our group was able to collaborate with one another to complete this assignment. I was able to email, call, or email my peers for support and
By working together there is information sharing, improve safety and quality also collaboration gives knowledge to other professionals. (Littlechild and Smith, 2013).what I have learned through working in partnership with other professionals was creating a poster related to what each professional does. Some of the professionals I did not know how exactly they work together in partnership. Example: I was not aware of how a radiology would work with a social work and the outcome of that was that Radiology develop and maintain collaborative relationship with medical colleagues and participates in regular meetings with other professionals activities to meet the needs of a service users therefore they collaborate with Social Workers. By doing a poster and delivering information I learned a lot from the other team members, shared experiences knowledge and skills with other group members. Group work made me realise how it is very important to work in multi-displinary team, the benefit of it and what others can benefit from. During the poster each of the student was from different professional however we all had the question but each had to look at it in each profession perspectives. This gave an opportunity to everyone to go and search for each professional and communicate with the rest of the group the outcome of the presentation. By doing that, we exchanged ideas learned from each other’s skills and used it into practice. I have learned about sharing information with others, learned about communication and

Furthermore, the importance of teamwork and collaboration to produce a superior work as a result of bolstering each other strengths was demonstrated in my third artifact, which is a group presentation. Although this project was my first english presentation and I had many feelings encountered, positive and negative ones, it showed me the influence that an orator can convey not only in a massive group but also inside a classroom. Good speakers plan not only the content of their speech but also their style of delivery. Despite the importance of having a clear and logical message to convey, how the message is presented is critical for bringing forth the desire concept (WOVEN 229).
I will be discussing about my reflection on the Six Week Group Content/Intervention Mid-term project and my internship. The assignment is on Psychoeducational and Counseling Groups for adolescents who are encountering dating violence from their partner. I will be discussing the paper and the critical knowledge that I obtained after completing the assignment.
The group couldn't seem to find time for us to meet and plan our presentation, the first and only time all group members were present to work on the presentation was on the morning of the presentation. We worked on it and at the time I believed we had agreed on our final product, I personally felt all the slides needed at this point was editing and final touches to make it visually appealing for the audience. I went online to the google presentation we were using as a group to prepare our presentation and was surprised to see a different layout, additional slides, and contents which were different from what we as a group had worked on and approved as the final work we were going to present. I confronted the group members as to the changes on the slides and we had a conflict of what our
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
My co-operative behavior and the agreeable behavior I exhibited contributed to the harmony and the success of the group. The co-operation that was exhibited was relative to prompt arrival to meetings, meeting group deadlines, and thorough participation in the discussions and the forums of the group. While I was indeed co-operative for most of the group sessions, I was not afraid to speak my mind. My strongest writing skills were illustrated with the expression and analysis of the benefits and the drawbacks associated with the group project.
The teamwork is usually defined as the process of working together in a group to achieve a common goal. These days working in groups is inevitable. Whether it is a school assignment or working in a clinical settings, we have to work in groups to accomplish a task. We cannot expect to work in isolation all the times. (Stonehouse, 2011)
Building self-esteem, enhancing student satisfaction with the learning experience, and promoting a positive attitude toward the subject matter are all benefits of collaborative learning. A higher degree of accomplishment takes place as a group because you essentially are a team. An example of this is a sports team. In a collaborative situation it takes every member to do his or her part in order for a situation to have a greater resolution; as where a sports team needs everybody’s individual talent to win a game. In retrospect, as a group; the contributions of our own talents can make the difference between a “win or Lose situation” it gives you a sense of competition, and knowing that you can win as a group; self esteem in one’s self is accentuated. Johnson and Johnson (1989), Slavin (1967). Another benefit to collaborative learning is based on the members of your group. Every individual in the group demonstrates their own input based on where they were born, what nationality they are so on and so on. The benefit of this is that you get a different perspective on things rather than always knowing what you know. You can take information from other cultures and add or apply it to what you already know.
When our class shared their solo flight proposal, I came across a painting of one my peers who tried to conclude her life through the various drawings and vibrant colours in her project. It was quite fascinating to connect to the people who share the same passion towards arts and able to express their experience and emotions through it. In addition, I also learned to deal with group conflict wisely when misunderstanding between the group members occurred during one of our assignment. Therefore, group cohesiveness, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas were some of highlights of this
We observed the occurrence of synergy as we worked together with a significant deal of cooperation between members of the team. Previously, none of us were found to be dominant in our specific divisions and there are many groups in the presentation with exceptional skills to succeed. But, coming together in this group, we are able to succeed from other groups in presentation while demonstrating the significant synergetic group work. We were not able to win on individual level but our contribution to the group has combined to influence our performance positively and letting us achieve our goal of winning maximum marks. It is important for us to note that we would not be able to gain success in this presentation on individual basis but contributions from each of us combined to let us achieve our goal of gaining maximum marks in this task. We met every two weeks whenever we had our employment classes and these meetings were productive. These meetings went well but they could have been more productive if we had structured a proper schedule for maximising our meeting time. While considering the potentials of our group, our coach informed us that our group can only win if we want to and this caused a positive reaction with the confidence. None of us had any issues of ego and self-centeredness but instead we all wanted our group to perform outstanding. We consistently possess
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
Others who vanish for weeks on end, helping their parents with the year-end harvest. Still others who never come back, lacking the money to pay for school uniforms and school supplies. Such is the daily dilemma faced by many young people in the developing world as they seek to obtain that most precious of all commodities, education. With the global economy relying more than ever on brainpower and innovation rather than raw materials and manual labour as generators of wealth, a good education has become the key factor determining who will succeed and who will be left behind.
It is noticeable that the system of education is changing from time to time based on financial issues and how the world is growing. In the past, individuals taught the education system from the oldest member of the family to children, and their members were charging fees from the families that sent their children to them. Which meant that education was an important thing in all ages. Nowadays, the education is shaped to an official system run by professional people in governments and many countries invest high amounts towards education which makes evidence of how important it is in our current life. Every country has a different system of education based on their financial stability, government infrastructure and the standard of the government officials. It is noticeable that there is a big difference between the education in developing countries and the prevailing system in developed countries .In my essay I will discuss some reasons for these differences...
