Working with other students on a group project can sometimes be a huge challenge because some people have a better work ethic than others and feel as if they are doing all the work. While working in groups, it can be hard to spread out the work evenly, and there are normally people who do more work than others. Group projects require good work ethics, teamwork, and good communication among all members. Good communication is a very important factor to have within group projects. Without communication, the project would be unable to be completed because not all the members would have the same ideas or plans in mind. My group has communicated very well throughout the entire semester, which has allowed us to successfully complete the project. We have a group chat, so we can remind each other of meeting times, ask questions, and state plans. Overall, the communication among my group has been very well. The second most important factor for …show more content…
Our topic of finding a relationship between gender stereotypes and mindsets was very challenging to find information on because there has not been studies between the two. Therefore, everyone in the group was struggling with finding articles that related to our research study. I took a lot of time searching for articles on PSYCInfo, but I still failed to find one the related perfectly. Therefore, finding research articles could be something I can work on for next time. Another weakness of mine is not always completely voicing my opinion. I am a shy person that hates to be wrong in front of a group of people. If my group members all agreed on a situation, and I did not, I would often hesitate to speak or not voice my opinion at all. This could hurt my group because my opinion could make other members change their original thoughts and go along with mine instead. In the future, I will be sure to go out of my comfort zone and state what is on my
Normally in a group, the work will be divided into the number of members in the group and may be arranged to each of the members to receive the part where they are more confident and have more knowledge of it. In addition, if a member is confused with their work, he can receive assistance from his teammates rather than just being alone and figure it himself independently. However, I believe sometimes been in a group can have its cons. A common pitfall associated with working as a group is disagreement about the way something is being done, a particular issue, or an opinion. Sometimes one member might have his own beliefs and want to perform a task in their way and conflict can arise from this. Once conflict arises, the members can discuss their own opinions and might arrive to a solution, but this can cause a member to not show their full potential because something was not done the way they wanted. I believe this is very common but if you are open minded, it can be overcome for the sake of the team to be
Good communication skills were demonstrated during the second exercise. Group members put their point across in an orderly way and the other group members listened well and contributed. During this exercise we didn’t necessarily have a strategy but we did operate a good effective system. We had one person that people fed information to, and that person then made notes of the information onto the whiteboard.
For example, my group communicates quite clearly and effectively with one another, which has created more of a positive sense of equal interaction and bond between each member over the course.
“Reflection is the repetition of periodically stepping back to ponder the meaning to self, and to others in one’s immediate environment about what has recently transpired” (Raelin, J 2001). The following reflective essay will deliberate how my attitude and personality influenced the communication styles I used while dealing with my group. This will be justified through theories, academic literatures and personal surveys conducted throughout this course. My involvement throughout this group assignment was both consistent and constantly active.
When working on a group project, there are certain skills that are required to make sure that the tasks are being carried out smoothly. With that in mind, it is critical to keep an open line of communication as well as an understanding of the other individuals in the group. The following scenario is of a group project I was a part of that had a breakdown in the two points expressed above.
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
During a company project, some projects require a group or team effort in order to complete the company’s objectives. Building Teams is a group of individuals with different abilities, ideas, cultural backgrounds, ethnicity and way of thinking. Based on these differences, the team will inevitably have disagreements on the projects

From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. Everyone remembers the days of elementary and middle school being assigned worksheets and packets one after another. Group work was the escape from this. I, for one, loved hearing about a group project. For many reasons, I am very much for group work and projects. There are many advantages to the application of group assignments, some of which include the fact that the group members acquire many important life skills that are carried on into the future workplace, there is a decreased amount of work for individuals involved, and the advantages of social aspect of group work.
For our second piece of assessment this semester we participated in a debate. We were required to produce an argument in favour of either the plaintiff or defendant regarding an area of law. The debate was assessed in three sections which included delivering an oral argument, producing a written outline of our argument and working effectively as a team.
Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. The key to having an effective teamwork is to explore each member's unique abilities to motivate them.
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
Most people consider group projects the worst part of a class because often it ends up with one person doing all the work and others taking credit. Or there is that one person who doesn’t do anything and tensions can get high. However, my experience with a group project in Human Communications was different that what is normally expected. During this semester of Human Communications I learned many things about communicating, and I experienced the good and bad aspects of working with others for the group project. Throughout the semester, I prepared for speeches and assignments and worked on my public speaking skills.
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
