Goal #1: Traveling
My first goal of study abroad is to gain increased independence, self-reliance, and a sense of adventure by traveling throughout Ireland and Europe if possible. My family traveled very little when I was younger, but I had always loved the idea of traveling to new places and exploring faraway lands.
Getting my passport was the first step and in many ways the hardest step to traveling for me. The next step will be for me to go to Ireland and the University of Maynooth. I want to become engaged in my host school by participating in trips they may offer, and travel with local students to cities such as Dublin on the weekends and unique sites throughout Ireland such as any of the numerous old castles and ruins. I also hope to meet many local and international students, who would like to travel to other areas of Europe with me, as traveling with companions is safer and more fun than traveling alone.
By traveling, I will gain the adventure of a life time, as well as independence and self-reliance. These skills will aid me later in life with other goals and pursuits.

For me this will be a stretch, but will be a learning experience that I will never forget. I will also gain knowledge about Irish culture and society by participating in campus events, volunteer opportunities to work with locals, and by taking classes about Irish history. The BCA signature learning course will be a particularly great opportunity to learn about Irish history, and peace and conflict in general. Finally, by studying abroad and having the chance to work with locals and travel with fellow university students I will be broadening my horizons and gaining a global
