I believe intercultural learning is fundamentally essential to becoming successfully educated in the globalized, multicultural world we live in. Studying abroad in Rome, Italy, for the summer of 2017, would be an unforgettable an undoubtedly eye-opening experience into an entirely unique city from my own. As a senior transfer student, I have studied rigorous and diverse classes in a variety of fields, and I have acquired the foundation for a liberal arts education. Through study abroad, however, I will have the academic opportunity expand my ability to critically engage new cultures and ways of thinking, as well as become a more independent and confident young woman. Lastly, by showing my ambition and drive for global understanding, I hope to increase my professional marketability for future employers.

The importance of diversity is becoming a much more discussed topic in the workplace, particularly in that the more diversity there is in say, a work group, the more potential there is for creativity and innovative thinking. Through study abroad, I will have the opportunity to delve into communication with students from all over the world, learning from them, and expanding my creativity and understanding of the world around me. I want to truly grasp what the world around me has to offer, and I believe studying abroad will do so in a way that allows me to both find my inner purpose and solidify my personal values.
