I have see a lot of people drop out. hat they don't know, is that when they don't have enough money they are going to want a job. First you need to attend all of your classes. You cant go have good grades if you don't participate in all your classes. Many student just skip school for no reason. Also, most people always want to sit in the back of the class. What some teachers don't know is that there students are basically learning nothing. They are sometimes sleeping, on their phones, or talking to another student. Remember it sit in the front, they are usually the best students. Second, master your professors. Not all professors are the same. They want you to learn what you wanted to learn. If I was struggling for a test, I could go the the professor and get the help I need. Third, stay organized. Have you ever had a test and the teacher gave you a study guide an you lost it. It is important to put in the right place ,where you know you won't lose it. If I had a divider for science, I could just put it in there. Therefore, when I open my notebook up, I could just ''flip'' to the dividers of science. Forth, use your time wisely. If the teacher said that you have 30 minutes to complete a test and there is a had question, you could just eliminate the chooses that you know it its not it. That mean that you should take note of the things that you do not understand or need help on. For example, when the teacher it talking about cells. When he is talking, you need to be taking notes and study what you wrote. Make sure that you can understand what you have wrote. Sixth, use your test book if the teacher has instructed to do so. There are text books for a reason. For example, when there is a test going on and the teacher says you can use the text book, as u look thought it, try to really think of what the question is asking. Seventh, follow the rules of writing. Most people just want to hurry up and write a essay. If you don't know he rules of writing. A professor will take of points for not following these rules. They want your paper to be organizes because when they read it, they want to find all the sequences in order so it can be easy to read. The eight step it to, obviously, study. Many people think studying is really boarding and doesn't care what they make on the test. They will go home and games and get on there phone and don't even touch there book. One way that a person can study is to find him/her a study buddy. Ninth, be a good test-taker. If you have just learned about the parts of a cell, you should know that there is going to be a test. When the test comes, follow step number eight. Also you should already know what is going to be on the test. Finally, polish those variable
Grades do motivate students to do better but, grades cause students to want to get a good grade instead of fully mastering the material. They look at school just trying to pass which promotes cheating on tests and homework. They also will choose the material that is the easiest and choose a class with a professor who doesn’t care to raise their GPA. School is supposed to be about learning and understanding new material to help gain knowledge and a new way of thinking.
Ultimately, by these students tieing their self image to getting the highest possible grade it can lead them to some serious Problems, the students not learning to their full potential, and negatively affect their career. Grades play a role in education but grades should not define a student like it does today.
Failing is not an option for many people this means that they will do anything they can to get good grades and keep them there. For many people getting by is just fine and some just don’t care at all, normally collage is where people get weeded out. During this time in life most adults know the meaning of failing and what consequences it will have, number one being the loss of money for the class that must be taken a second time. However sometimes one might fail due to distractions or problems
One thing I can do to help me study is to ask one of my older siblings to quiz me on the topic and/or chapter. Another thing I can do is make flash cards so I am able to quiz myself when I am unable to get help from another person. Essentially, these flash cards would have vocabulary terms and their definitions on them, or maybe even a math problem and its correct answer.
School allows many opportunities to grow as a person, and show your personality. Within class I am always an active participant, I always add my input in discussion, and work to answers questions. I have always maintained good grades I was placed in advanced courses beginning in fourth grade and within all 3 years of highschool I have earned a weighted
For some students, the time they have in the classroom is not enough for them to grasp the topic. While teachers usually offer a period for students to see them for extra help, some students do not have time for this. Most students have commitments outside of the classroom, such as m...
Yes, good grades do lead to good colleges, which do open doors, and yes, making students have the need to avoid bad grades is good as well. However, despite common belief, good grades are not that important. People like Steve Jobs prove that the label grades give mean nothing. The world has seen glory and success earned by many confident, jubilant people, and some of those very same people did not attend college or have perfect scores. If confidence and happiness are the keys to a good life, then what is the point of taking away such key factors when grades are involved? Yes, achieving the best grades can help students have a better life, but having a low grade on a report card does not dictate their
Two of the most important study skills are setting goals and taking notes. A student may set a time goal, such as studying a few hours a week; set a general goal, such as trying to study hard and stay on schedule; set a specific performance goal, such as getting at least 80% of the homework problems correct. Another important study skill is taking notes. Students generally make two kinds of mistakes in taking notes. One is to try to write down everything the instructor says, which leads to confusing notes. The other is to copy concepts that they do not understand but hope to learn by memorization. Good notes are compromised of the following: 1) written information summarized in your own words; 2) outline the important concepts; 3) try to associate the lecture notes with the material text; 4) asking yourself questions and making up questions from the notes.
A statement from the Huffington Post states, “From a very young age, we are told the importance of getting good grades. Especially in high school, we are told time and time again that our grades affect what college we will get into. While grades are extremely important, people often forget about the importance of learning, not just getting good grades. There is a difference between the grade received in a course and the amount of learning that took place in the course.” Parents and institutions should teach the importance of learning. The society around the upbringing of students emphasizes getting good grades as apposed to getting every detail and aspect mastered. School priorities should be reevaluated and changed for future students
Many students take their high school years for granted and do not always pull off the best grades. But then when they get to college, or a higher degree of education than high school they start to straighten up. The reason being is because after high school everyone can choose what it is they want to spend the rest of their life doing. The classes they take, are of interest to them rather than all of the required ones in high school. For this reason I feel that students are more likely to take college seriously and not just because of the money.
Grades do not define you Failure, rejections, denial, failing quizzes, red marks, and low deportment grades, these are the words that we usually hear in school and make us feel not good enough. The good side of this is that, all these things that we are going through right now in school are trainings for us to succeed in the future. A very well known man, took several years for him to learn how to speak. Even though he was already 7 years old, he wasn't still able to learn how to read and write (Bass, 2013). His teachers even called him retarded or simply, stupid.
Textbook reading and reading for pleasure are very different, in the sense that reading for pleasure does not required to take what is being read and use it to educate on a particular subject. Ones methods and styles have to change in learning and retaining the information while understanding what is being read. Reading actively requires four steps in order to prepare for writing papers, research, tests and exams these are; previewing, strategizing, concentrating, and reviewing. Everyone will develop their own reading and studying habits, these steps are just the guideline in order to enhance success. These active reading strategies need to be in place to get the most out the information that is being read. A vast amount of what could be accomplished in college will depend on the understanding of the material in the textbooks. With the right system in place and the right state of mind textbook material are the
...ork hard and get a lowest wage and live their life. I feel sorry for them. They worked 12hous a day, 6 days a week, to earn some money to support their family. What a life! I was surprised that they were willing to do a job like this. If I were them, I would try every mean to jump out of a hell like that. There was a girl who’s 18 years old. She quitted high school and started to work there one year ago. I encouraged her to go back to school. She seemed interested. But I felt she’s not really going to change her life by getting a higher education.
In college, self study is very important. Each student has his or her methods to study in school. To manage study times, concentrate in class, practice all the lessons are three strategies students should develop to be successful in college. First of all, students should manage their study time well. In college, many students take four to five classes in a week.
...room or step outside away from everyone else. You could choose to study as school; unfortunately sometimes classmates can be unruly. Because of unruliness that could make it hard to concentrate. You could leave the class and head to a study hall if your school supports one.
