Some sociological reason that gender, race and age discrimination will occur in America society is because of prejudice, racial stereotyping and racism. When thinking about discrimination the first thing that would come to a person’s mind is segregation. Discrimination is treatment or consideration of making distinction in favor of or against, a person, group or class. When gender is a part of discrimination it deals with the male or female humans not being good enough for something. Discriminating a person’s race deals with the person ethnicity, to judge because of your skin color can be very degrading to a person. Racial prejudice has a rich history of racial stereotypes. For ,example white American people would stereotype African American people by stating that they are lazy ,violence –prone and welfare –dependent, then they say the Hispanics people are poor, unintelligent and unpatriotic (smith ,1991). When people decides to stereotype other groups of people it hurts that community of people and it puts limitations on them. Sociological research on prejudices is based largely on explicit attitudes that has been measured through large-scales surveys (Fazio & Olson, 2003). Psychologist, have increasing measures prejudice forms of racial bias, and influences cognition affects and behaviors (Greenwald, 1995). Diversity initiatives is an organization strategic response to diversity. The initiatives looks into the internal and external needs of the organization that is fixed to create new laws to makes sure situations like: race, gender, and age discrimination never happen again. People are not perfect and we disparage what we do not know about others and it does not make it right. We as people need to learn how to accept the unknown and not to worry about what we cannot control. In life things get better and people learn from their mistakes as time progresses. The power of stereotypes stored in the brain was a daunting thought. This information enlightened me about the misconceptions we carry from our cultural experiences. Also, it startled me that according to (Banaji and Greenwald, 2013) “those who showed high levels of White Preference on the IAT test were also those who are most likely to show racially discriminatory behavior,” (pg. 47). I reflected on this information, and it concerned me that my judgments were simply based on past cultural experiences. This mindbug was impacting my perception of someone before I even had a chance to know him.
In many circles of the world, various groups of people distinguish themselves from one another through religion, language, culture, and sometimes gender. People also develop stereotypes about a particular group of people in order to identify them. However, most of the time, these stereotypes hold true for only some members of a group. Sometimes, these stereotypes are just plain misconceptions that do not even apply to the group it claims to. Stereotypes are placed on people because it is a way to easily identify what type of person or ethnicity an individual is. At one point in time, these stereotypes may have been true; however, in today’s modern society, most of these stereotypes are outdated and false, which leads them to turn into misconceptions. Usually, stereotypes are utilized to humiliate and degrade the person or group; they also do not provide any beneficial outcomes. Stereotypes focus on how a particular group acts because of the radical ideas and actions of the few, how a particular group looks, or how that group is physically lacking in some way. These stereotypes often lead to conflicts because the group does not appreciate the way it is being perceived. Seldom are the stereotypes placed on a group of people truthful and accurate. Some hardly even apply to the particular group people it claims to. It is true that how people are perceived has a big impact on how other individuals interact with them; however, people are not perceiving these groups correctly.

Racism has existed throughout the world for centuries and has been the primary reasons for wars, conflicts, and other human calamities all over the planet. It has been a part of America since the European colonization of North America beginning in the 17th century. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exist in our schools, workforces, and anywhere else that social lives are occurring. It started from slavery in America to caste partiality in India, down to the Holocaust in Europe during World War II.
Age discrimination continues to be a problem for both men and women that are over the age of 40 in the workforce. In year 1967, the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act ADEA was passed to prohibit discrimination against workers over age 40 and older. Another law in the year 1964, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, or national origin. However there are still age discrimination and it seems to be more especially for older women more than older men. The Federal and the state should implement more regulations to protect workers' rights in all age groups, both in the younger and older generation including their race and gender.
