According to Mr franklin” coaching is a good way to influence others to stay out of the streets because football teaches a valuable life lesson”. football coaches are people who do not get paid much money but they take their job very seriously.
Coach's responsibility is to make sure their team is in shape so nobody get’s an injury, and they have to decide what player fits best in each position. Professional head coaches have to cut players from the team that are not improving because the roster only have room for fifty-three players. “ Football is generally considered to be the world’s most universally popular sport, both in terms of participation numbers and viewing figures for professionally-held events”(“Football Coach jobs”). Basic level football team will need at least one coach,therefor,semi-pro and professional football team will have up to nine coaches. Head football coaches have goals they have to reach or they will get fired ,for example, they have to reach a specific rank to keep the program going. A football coach will get the blame for if the team loses and they have to deal with getting fired. Most high school coaches work forty hours a week some coaches work during holidays. Football coaches shouldn't argue back at any parent or coaches from the other team. Football coaches have to practice with their team each day so they can get better. Football coach have a lot of duty's like deciding the the direction of the team and determining the best way to win games. A coach should never put down on his player,he should encourage them to do better. Coaching is a job with low-stress levels most head coaches are former football players. “To work as a high school strength and conditioning coach, most school districts mandate that the applicant have a valid teaching license or substitute teaching license in that state” (Strength-Conditioning Coach). Head coaches are responsible for teaching the players good sportsmanship because if they don't teach the players good sportsmanship the play will get ejected for three quarters and the head coach will have to face the consequences. All coaches want to see their players play to the best of their abilities. During the offseason coach have to set up a weight lifting program so that their players can work out year round so when the season come around again the team will be ready to play and they would have got stronger and
Coaching any sport is much harder than it seems. There are some jobs that almost anyone with the right education can do. Coaching is definitely not one of those jobs. One can get educated on drawing X's and O's on a paper for decades and still might be far from being a successful coach. Of course knowledge of the sport is very important too but to be successful in a job like coaching, one has to dedicate himself to his job; his job has to be his life. This is the major reason even those who hate Patriots still respect Bill Belichick and agree that he had unique abilities that make him so successful. His exceptional intelligence, his ability to break down and exploit game film, his singular discipline and his almost unmatched work ethic makes him probably the best coach in the NFL today and even one of the best in the history of the NFL.
In a growing trend that reaches to all corners of the athletic world, coaches are being forced to cope with the added stress of disgruntled parents. More and more they are required to defend personal coaching styles and philosophies, uphold team decisions and go head to head with angry, and sometimes violent parents. The pressure has gotten to the point where coaches all over the country are quitting or being forced out of their jobs by groups of parents. High school athletics should be about learning and having fun, and when parents cross the line between cheerleader and ringleader everyone suffers.
Coaches should have an arrangement of fundamental abilities that they depend on to produce a positive outcome. Definition of a coach from the American Heritage Dictionary, Third Edition (page 167) One who trains or directs an individual or team, to train or instruct teach a team. The goal behind coaching is to exhibit the ability to get the most out of everyone on the team. It should be a goal to bring out the greatest potential from every team member. It’s insane how many players do not even know their true potential. Successful coaches assess these individuals and the team to advance them to the next level of sports. "The Little Book of Coaching, Motivating People to be Winners" by Ken Blanchard and Don Shula (2001) gives a great acronym of the word C-O-A-C-H. The acronym breaks down as follows: Conviction Driven: never compromise your beliefs-Overlearning: practice until it is perfect-Audible-Ready: know when to change-Consistency: respond predictably to performance-Honesty-Based: walk your talk. This acronym should remind you of your job as a coach. A good coach
There are about one-hundred and twenty-eight college football teams. That means there are one-hundred and twenty-eight college football coaches, not including the assistant coaches and all other people in the program. You may find this field at any college university where you are hired. Many people go to school to be a college football coach or are already in the program.
A coach must be able to handle harsh criticism, he must be dedicated, he must have the time to put the work in for the team, and he must be the prime example of a great leader. If a coach doesn’t have these characteristics there in no need to try and become a coach. If a coach wants to be a great coach and have a family then he should probably look for a real supporting wife that loves the sport and try to make sure the kids are involved, so they don’t feel left out. If a coach is something someone would enjoy doing he should make getting the players respect a big thing, because if he can’t get the players respect than they probably won’t even buy into what he wants to do for them or what he wants to accomplish. Coaches must be able to handle criticism from fans, parents, and even players. “Just don’t take it personal do what you know is right, some people are going to like it and some aren’t. It’s what comes with the position,” a quote from Coach Foster when asked how to handle criticism. (Foster)
Coaching is not only showing a team what to do, but explaining to them why it is so. Each game, the coach is accountable for getting all 11 players on the field working as one unit. He's responsible for preparing his team for battle each week and for making sure his game-time decisions are flawless. The coach is not only the head of the team, but a leader for all the players. A coach must maintain a pristine level of emotion and discipline so that he is respected by everyone.
...ified by hundreds of principals, superintendents, and school board members. There are many concerns about the safety, training, organization, philosophy, communications, and general management in coaching. According to the California High School Coaching Education and Training Program as stated in the Coaching Education Legislature Assembly Bill No. 2741, “It is a conservative estimate that at least 25,000 coaches annually need training and an orientation just to meet current coaching regulations contained in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, including basic safety and CPR requirements.” That is why course techniques of coaching specific sports are necessary for a persons not trained and certified as a physical education teachers because they need to understand the basic philosophy and principles of athletics in education, know the health related aspects of athletics, and the techniques used to coach a specific sport. With every coach there are the little pieces of the game…strategy of offense and defense, practice/game planning, or scouting, but to get the whole picture they need to know the basic philosophy and principles, health aspects, and the obvious techniques.
To be a successful coach, the first thing a coach has to do is become well acquainted with the athlete. The coach should get to know the athlete’s life outside of track. If the coach does not know the person as an individual then he would not be able to coach them. According to a collegiate track athlete, “a track coach should not only improve your running, but he should improve your way of life” (Jones). I believe that statement is true. A coach needs to have that close personal connection with their athletes. Like a teacher would have a connection to a student. With out that teacher, student connection the athlete will not enjoy learning nor will the coach be able to teach the athlete. In fact, a coach is a teacher, and the athlete is a student. That should be true for all coaches, not just a track coach.
The athletes that play one sport versus multiple sports all relate to the ethics of preventing sports injuries. A big topic of this pathway is the coaches’ role. A coach should know what’s right from what’s wrong when it comes to his or her player. When a player looks like he/she is tired then the coach should take the player out of the game. If the coach leaves them in the game they are more susceptible to injuries [Graham]. Another example is if a football player gets hit hard in a play then he should come out of the game and get evaluated for a concussion.
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will”. Being a football coach requires someone who can be a great communicator. This person needs to understand communication on both sides an individual can not just demand that it's a one way street where you talk and athletes listen. The career of coaching requires history of the game knowledge of the game, extensive education, and positive and negatives aspects of the game.
Even when dealing with injuries they still give it their all because coaches tend to see it as a sign of weakness. Football is the most dangerous sport today. Players are being hit and put in the ER for major damage to the body. Football players get older they are guaranteed to suffer from many times of brain suffrage due to all the hits they receive. Many athletes suffered from season-ending injuries and have not been properly taken care of. The coaches have some sympathy for the athletes, but the next thing on their mind is how I am going to replace this athlete. Athletes are more likely to drink, take illegal street drugs, and develop gambling problems due to the stress they come
There are many challenges being a coach or any type of leader. If you are in either of these positions a big challenge would be how to make your organization better than others. Coaches need to come up with a game plan to outperform other teams. This is extremely hard when there are tons of other coaches also trying to do the same thing. The second challenge is implementing the plan you do create. A coach needs to not only be an expert at how to be better than other teams, but also be a proficient teacher. An amazing master plan means nothing if you can’t get your players to execute the plan. The most challenging thing about being a coach is keeping your players motivated. If your players don’t care and just stop trying then it doesn’t matter how good your plan
The general duties of this job is to make your team have a championship practice everyday when they step on the court you will know if they have a good practice or not. The special duties of being a coach is have lunch every time before a game or even have team bonding before the game but before the game you need to tell them that there will be no horse playing or goofing off or you will lose every game during that season that is why you need to get your head on right before the game. Coaches often work in the evenings and at weekends, especially during competitions. If you are coaching at a high level, you would usually work long hours. There are lots of opportunities for coaches to work part-time. You could work in a variety of places, including schools, health centres, private health clubs and sports clubs. Basketball season is not an all around sport it is seasonal and some coaches will work in the mornings with their team, or even in the day at like 12 or 1 o 'clock and some teams and coaches will practice at night team because it might be cooler in the gym. There are males and females that are coaching so because the females with coach the girls team and the males will sometimes work the girls
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching.
In today’s society being a coach can be extremely complicated especially compared to earlier years. Coaching requires not only many technical and personal skills but also has to include positive psychology that will affect all athletes regardless of gender, age, and race. After reading various articles this leads me to the question, what is a coach? How do coaches differ from one another? In addition are we forgetting the importance of not only coaching but the sports psychology aspect of coaching overall? Regardless of what you may have read or heard I believe not only do all coaches have their own coaching style but every coaching technique and style is different. Coaching styles and positive psychology are two techniques that can provide
