but I have a pretty good idea as to what type of job it will be. I would like to go into the field of a physical therapist and sports medicine, I fell I will enjoy this more than any other type of career just because I already have a lot of interest in it. Sports medicine involves athletes who are constantly training to be in the best physical shape they can be in. It involves athletes with rehabilitation and supplements that they can take to help either recover faster or to help them perform better on their playing field. A lot of high caliber athletes such as olympians are involved in sports medicine, because it is able to get you back into your sport, faster and with less likelihood of re-injury.
Working at a school would not have been a top choice but as an athletic director it seems fun and enjoyable. An athletic director oversees all school sports and makes sure that everyone follows the rules and does not disobey the coaches (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to attend all games and matches that are scheduled (Hinginbotham, Heather). As well as attending all the games they have to hire the officials that are needed for the games (Higinbotham, Heather). Athletic directors also might have to fire coaches and other athletic department employees if needed (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to set or approve job descriptions for each position (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). Every athletic director job is different depending on the size of school; their daily routine might be different from others. In smaller schools the athletic director might have to teach classes as well as do their own job. But as for larger school they will only be an athletic director. In some jobs they are physical education teachers as well as an athletic director (Baccadutre).
The salary you will make as a Divison 1 head coach is between $100,000- $7 million with added bonuses. As for other jobs, you can do within this industry are broadcasting, whether calling games or being a TV analyst. Also, you can become a full-time basketball trainer and also be a camp director running basketball camps or clinics. This industry is only going to continue to grow it is a billion dollar industry. The biggest development is college basketball being investigated by the FBI for fraudulent payments to players to attend certain schools and to get certain sponsorships. With Addidas being the biggest company involved and programs such as Alabama, Arizona, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma State all being subjected to violations. “Four coaches were charged with violations Tony Bland of USC, Emmanuel Richardson of Arizona, Lamont Evans of Oklahoma State, and Chuck Person of Auburn” (FBI CBB pg 1). This investigation is only getting started, this will be the headline of the sport for the next year or so. The issue comes with the players having no amateurism meaning they can’t earn any money for their likeness, therefore companies and coaches will funnel money in different ways to players to get them to come to a school or join a company so they get first dibs on a player. Coaching involves a lot, but the reward at the end chasing championships and leading men to better lives and to reach their dreams and aspirations is the impact that is self-rewarding that you can’t get back in return and would be forever grateful to get that opportunity to do
As a college basketball player, I learned that being an effective leader did not mean that I had to be a constant bundle of energy. Rather, I realized over time it is more important to understand your teammates and what makes them tick, and to translate that knowledge into separate leadership styles to match each individual. This is crucial when working with an extremely diverse group of attitudes, personalities, and mindsets. I believe people would describe my style as steady, positive, and upbeat – opposite of my head coach in many ways. Countless times I would pull a teammate aside who had been berated and explain in a constructive
Coaches train athletes to compete as a team or individually. Coaches working in high schools are responsible for coaching one or more of the school’s sports team. In larger schools one may coach one sport. These sports may be football, basketball, baseball, hockey, skiing, wrestling, soccer, and swimming depending on the school’s sports programs. High school coaches are part of the teaching staff. The head coach often has to locate assistant coaches. The head coach is responsible for supervising the team and other coaches. A team’s coach is responsible for getting the entire team ready to play and compete in games, tournaments, and championships, but first must teach them the fundamentals of the sport. A Coach does not only teach athletes skill, but also about good sportsmanship and teamwork. The all-time goal for a head coach is to win a state championship. He or she is responsible for putting together the team with the best athletes in the school. The head coach is also responsible for putting together schedules. Coaches sometime host tryouts at the beginning of the year depending on the sport and size of the school. Coaches are always under a ton of pressure. They have the whole community depending on them to win at that sport. Fans will always talk bad when the team is losing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment of coaches to increase much faster than the average for all occupations through 2022.
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
John wooden a former player and later became a basketball coach once said. “A coach much never forget that he is a leader and not merely a person with authority.” Basketball has been something in our everyday lives for a while. To allot it something they just can't live without and others just choose to not even bother with it. I think that it is worth the time to look more into basketball. Basketball can be started at a elementary school level, and they can usually go to sign up at local boys and girls clubs maybe at their school if they offer it and can even join through their church if they attend one and they offer it to them. Being a coach seems easy to most parents but it really isn't how it isn't is a coach must ensure that players
One negative aspect is that individual will miss out spending time with his or hers family due to putting in long nights of watching film, trying to fix their defense or offense by adjusting their players spots, or even spending time with their players after practice or in the off season getting them stronger (“https://careertrend.com/disadvantages-being-coach-1624.html”). There are good ones to your helping these men and women become better player and people. There playing the game they love and also learning a life lesson. There may be some people you don’t like on your team but at the end of the day you gotta work with them to get the win. That individual teach those kids sportsmanship.
My senior project is about being a coach and how it can be difficult and not an easy task. I wanted to show others that being a coach is something that takes time and effort in order to accomplish it. Being a coach is not a fun job but it is a job that will help you in the future. Coaching is an experience that not a lot of people get to go through but those who do become not just better people but they become teachers to others in troubling times and in time of need. Coaching gives you and also shows you that being helpful and courteous to others actually helps you out as a person and it also helps out the players you’re coaching to be better people and to be kind and not take things in the wrong way and to show them a better way that will help them in their life.
I’m a basketball coach and a speech teacher for high school, and the reason why I chose this career is because I find coaching interesting as well as teaching speech class. And I another reason is because I like basketball.
Well, the career I have chosen is a Physical Trainer. I have always found these people to be really inspiring and have thought about hiring one myself or even going through the schooling and training to become one myself. They do so much for people like helping others to find happiness with themselves as well as help making the human race a little healthier.
The term “coach” in this context would not mean someone sitting on a bench and telling the players whose turn it is to go in the game. Coach in this context would mean someone explaining the rules and teaching the game. The first use of the term coaching to mean an instructor or trainer arose around 1830 in Oxford University slang for a tutor who "carries" a student through an exam. Whoever invents a sport usually would become the first coach of the sport. James Naismith invented the game of basketball in Springfield, Massachusetts. He became the first ever basketball coach, he is known as the father of basketball, even though his record as a coach at the University of Kansas was a mediocre fifty five wins and sixty losses.
In the sport of basketball, the roles and responsibilities of an assistant coach includes working under a head coach to make sure players, equipment and facilities are well-prepared and organized. An assistant coach maintains equipment to make sure it's available and in good working condition. Also, assistant coaches help with administrative tasks such as review report cards to determine eligibility, collect application forms and funds, make sure player's physical exams are current. However, some assistant coaches actually have direct coaching responsibilities, while others only respond to a main or head coach's directives. Nonetheless, in the sport of basketball as well as many other sports, many head coaches start out as assistant coaches
Some people have dreams of being a Profession Basketball Player, receiving an athletic scholarship to play basketball at a division 1 level, plays a major part of that dream and a step closer to that reality. Being a student-athlete is not easy, your focus must be in the books, and is also expected on the court. Making sure you keep your grades up to not just graduate, but to also be able to play the sport. And then on the court, making sure every day you leave your blood, sweat, and tears on the floor. Playing your heart out so that maybe you’ll have a career playing at the next level (NBA) which according to NCAA.org, the chances of that is 1.1 %. Meaning that the four-years that you worked hard for on and off the court is basically like a test of survival of the fittest, your competing every day to make sure that dream comes true, or at least make sure that the four-year journey is worth it. Majority of these players are coming from low-come areas, they are leaving their struggling families to hopefully be able change the life that they’ve been living. Yes, it is a privilege to be able to receive a free education and play a sport that you love, but is also a major sacrifice, after 4-years of blood sweat and tears and the probability of going to the league being what it is, the sacrifice of not working, like most regular college students do, the sacrifice of being restricted to things, because the NCAA has rules and
Can you imagine playing the game of basketball without a three point line? Basketball has constantly changed throughout history and continues to change today. The National Basketball Association has risen in popularity and is now one of America’s more popular sports. Because basketball continues to be a popular sport, a fan should learn about the origin of the NBA, how the game evolved from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and how the players today impact the way it is played.
