Most schools want their students to be able to do their best in school. Wouldn’t it be an excellent idea if schools bans foods that might help students focus and have more success in school? Common sense is that whatever means will be used to help our students reach their full potential. For some students, a small snack in the middle of the morning would benefit their energy and ability to learn. If students have more energy, than school might be more interesting to them. Alissa Fleck’s article on Healthy Eating proves this point. Students should be allowed to eat during class because it can benefit their energy and focus.

Others may oppose a change to this rule because eating could be a distraction in class. This could be solved with a new rule, by only allowing certain foods to be eaten in class, or give the teacher the rights to set their own guidelines on what food is allowed in their classroom. They should not, however, be allowed to ban all food. Teachers may want to keep this rule in place because it prevents students from snacking in every class each day. Nevertheless, students in Middle School are at an age where they have to start making decisions for themselves. It is the student's responsibility to choose what foods they eat and how they should keep themselves healthy. A final reason that others might say it is not a good idea to change this rule is that students might make a mess in the classroom and cause more work for the janitorial staff. Once again, students at this age have to learn how to be responsible, and if they cannot be responsible to clean up their mess, teachers could be able to take away their privileges to eating in class. There are many easy ways to change this rule so that it makes the school a better
Having different food can affect a child health. There are milky ways, cake, cookies, pizza and lets just add some French fries in there and call that lunch. Don’t forget the drink sweet tea, pop and milk that one doesn’t choose to drink it. The students would go back to the class rooms after twenty minutes and be hungry at the end of the da. Garland said, “Instead, we allow school cafeterias to dispense the same junk food that kids could buy in any mall” (621). There has been so much junk food and soft drinks in schools that makes the student health unsafe and a distraction to their education. Garland mentioned that the students are filling up with fat, salt and sugar rather than filling up with fruit, whole grains and vegetables. Schools should be about healthiness, and well balanced diets. With having Students eat healthy can boost up their energy and ability to learn. With that being said when I was in high school it was nothing but junk food for three years. When Michele Obama changed the law on the school lunches my senior lunches have changed. It was nothing but healthy food like whole grain, no sweets, two scoops of fruits and vegetables. At Odessa they had a school store loaded with junk food that would be sold out by forth period. When the law came to the school there was nothing but baked chip and replaced with other baked nutrition food or we had nothing at all. The drink machines were changed out
Puck gives a fitting end to the play, as the audience has come to love
In other words, the food is not delicious and there are not many choices. Also, when children don’t get proper nutrition, they have trouble focusing on school. Most students do not buy lunch because they feel it is unappealing and do not like the food served. Many students go to other kids and ask for food. In addition, many students do not eat breakfast, so they rely on lunch to fuel them for the day.
According to the Journal of Law and Health schools that have not banned junk food have had an increase in students more excited to learn because of the sugar count unhealthy foods. Looking at the evidence regarding school lunches from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), students need equal grain and protein proportions to have a healthy daily diet, and over the course of 5 years schools that don't have a healthy lunch program have had their students overall GPA almost completely equivalent to the schools that have had the healthy lunch program. Although having tremendously unhealthy school lunches may not harm your GPA it can immensely harm your health. Lots of average students health are in danger just because of unhealthy school lunches, it is very necessary that schools realize that a healthy lunch program is always a beneficial option. Scientists have found that children who have healthier breakfast and lunch get better grades and have increased brain power. Some evidence points to unhealthy food but healthy food is always the answer in an effective school community. Sometimes unhealthy food is cheaper and tastes better but it can be very costly to your health especially as a
On campus, this problem does result in leaving students hungry. They are seen scarfing down their food after arriving 10 minutes late to class, because the cafeteria was going to close for the rest of the day. Student's stomachs are heard growling, which disturbs the class when in full concentration. Hungry students then do not pay attention in class and causes a domino affect in others stomachs growling, leaving and going between classes, and other disturbances.
School officials must also look at the percentage of children who are obese, and consider how providing a healthy school lunch will help to lower that number. Healthy school cafeteria food is essential for school-aged children in the United States because it will help them pay attention in school, improve their learning capabilities, and minimize childhood obesity. Healthy school lunches help students academically. There is no teacher who wants their students to be distracted. Often when children are hungry, because of a light lunch, or a lunch full of simple carbohydrates, they become distracted.
Ever have to choose what students want for lunch? Is it healthy or unhealthy? Schools need to realize that not many students eat as it is, and changing the school menus is only going to increase the amount of students not wanting to eat school lunch. Changing the school menu would make students skip school and go get fast food, and then get in trouble for skipping. Starvation would become a big role in the school. For kids that have a lot of money to eat out. So, yes changing the menu can be a bad idea for the school and the students.
such as chips, deserts, and very high in sugar food should not be served in school
Many cafeteria workers and staff members in 49 states have said many students do not want the governments new school lunches. Almost 7 out of 17 schools with have been seen with students throwing away some or all their fruits or vegetables, even the cafeteria workers are suffering under these new standards. About 60.3 percent of school districts want flexibility to be given to all schools to improve their ability to provide and give good nutrition without harm to any instructions and school district operations. Schools should know by now what is good for students and what is not, but they should not go overboard with the wheat and whole grain items. Another example that shows that schools should be responsible for providing a nutritious lunch is knowing that there are a variety of ways to make healthy foods taste good for school students. Healthy tasty food that will risk diabetes and obesity .One of the biggest reasons people do not eat healthy foods is because they feel it as if it will not taste good. The problem is, if your health food does not taste good, you are eating the wrong health food. Just because something is good for you does not mean it has to taste nasty, boring, or completely gross. There are plenty of ideas out there for eating healthy without making sacrifices on taste. “It is silly that people are worried about kids throwing things out. There are many ways to make
It would be a great idea for all schools to switch to an healthier school lunch. They should change it because it will help children focus on test, quizzes, and inside of the classroom when taking notes. The kinds of foods that should be token away is the kids least favorite foods. For example kids will write down the most ten hated school foods served, which ever is the most voted gets token away. Then kids could give options of healthy school lunches to be replaced.
Should juniors be able to leave campus during lunch to be able to buy a good meal they actually want to eat? Students do not eat school food because they do not like it. Lunch should be a meal that is delicious, and that people enjoy eating. Lunch should be healthy and enjoyable for the students to eat it and like what they are eating. School food is not healthy because they are high in fat, sugar, and salt. Districts across the country have observed a marked drop in the number of students getting their lunch at the cafeteria. The average daily student participation rate for total lunches served began falling, it has declined by about 1.2 million.” Schools do not give students the choice to eat a meal they actually like. Many students are starving themselves just because the school food is not good or healthy. Students cannot focus in class with an empty stomach. A student can get a good meal from a restaurant near by the school in order, so they
Health problems for children in America are already bad enough, and they are getting worse (almost tripled obesity in children since the 70’s), but these problems aren’t mainly caused by the schools providing junk food as options to eat at lunch. The school should still be able to provide junk food for the students to eat at lunch. Yes the food may cause health problems, but removing the junk food could also cause other problems. Like how the students may not want to eat the healthier food which would cause more problems to the students and their parents, that the school may not provide what the kids need to eat at lunch, and that the school could lose money if it switches to the healthier food. First of all, the children may not be willing to eat the healthier food that is supplied versus the other alternatives.
School cafeteria’s run out of food often. Students end up hungry for the rest of the day. This a problem because students need energy to stay awake and for after school sports. Another reason it is a problem because students may fall asleep. If this happens students will be behind on school work.
Why is this a problem? Cafeteria food is often cheap, bought in bulk, high in calories, malnutritious, and microwaved. Student polls and opinions prove this. Therefore, this leads to a suggestion: Healthier, tastier foods and a better, more advanced lunch system should be implemented. First of all, students aren’t motivated to eat unhealthy, not-tasty food.
We should be able to eat and/or drink in class, what we want, when we want. The main reason I feel this particular way, is because there’s no reason a person should have to go eight in the morning or before until noon or after without eating or drinking something. (If you are in high school, that is). Another one of the main reasons I feel this way is because some kids have problems involving food, such as diabetes. Another possible problem might be hypoglycemia, which, in fact, I have. Hyperglycemia is another major problem in this world. I also believe that students can focus and learn more on a full stomach. Not just because I am, in fact, a student, but because I have been in the situation where I’m hungry and I can’t concentrate on anything, except my stomach and it’s cravings for food.
