Food Should Be Allowed In Middle School

Most schools want their students to be able to do their best in school. Wouldn’t it be an excellent idea if schools bans foods that might help students focus and have more success in school? Common sense is that whatever means will be used to help our students reach their full potential. For some students, a small snack in the middle of the morning would benefit their energy and ability to learn. If students have more energy, than school might be more interesting to them. Alissa Fleck’s article on Healthy Eating proves this point. Students should be allowed to eat during class because it can benefit their energy and focus.

Others may oppose a change to this rule because eating could be a distraction in class. This could be solved with a new rule, by only allowing certain foods to be eaten in class, or give the teacher the rights to set their own guidelines on what food is allowed in their classroom. They should not, however, be allowed to ban all food. Teachers may want to keep this rule in place because it prevents students from snacking in every class each day. Nevertheless, students in Middle School are at an age where they have to start making decisions for themselves. It is the student's responsibility to choose what foods they eat and how they should keep themselves healthy. A final reason that others might say it is not a good idea to change this rule is that students might make a mess in the classroom and cause more work for the janitorial staff. Once again, students at this age have to learn how to be responsible, and if they cannot be responsible to clean up their mess, teachers could be able to take away their privileges to eating in class. There are many easy ways to change this rule so that it makes the school a better
