The first day of school is the most important day for the student and teacher. In my classroom I would like to have an introduction assignment that the students can fill out. I will put important questions on there that will allow me to get to know each of my student 's better. You have to be able to know each student, so that you can learn about who they are, how they best learn, and what their home life is like. You may be faced with a child that has parents that don 't promote learning at home and if I don 't ask a question like, “Do your parents help you study at home,” I may not learn that until later in the year. For school faculty, whether it be the teacher, custodians, etc, bringing it to the principle to come up with a resolution such as detention, counselling or getting the child more involved in extra curricular activities should be considered. For instance, if the child bullied more than once to the same or different kids, perhaps more time in detention, bringing it to the attention of the principle and participating in extra curricular activities like cleaning up the trash from the school grounds,etc to keep that child busy. If it gets to the point of being out of control, perhaps suspending or expelling the child. Even If the child is a first time offender, letting the parent know as soon as possible to correct the issue as well as detention to keep a close watch on the child. The text cautions us to not label poor choices as misbehavior. “For me, the cultural baggage of this term causes teachers to make a moral judgement about a behavior and then make another moral judgement about the child” (6). By using morals to create judgements, this means that a teacher is directly connecting the behavior to the child. Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. I can guarantee that punishment is not the answer. Punishment is a suggestion made by reformers (Postman, 311), but it is the absolute worst decision that can be made in our schools. When students get out of school suspension (OSS), they treat it as a vacation day and most of them use it to play video games, and they still get to make up the work they missed. On Thursday, September 15, 2016 there was a board meeting in the Education center in Philadelphia. There were seven board members on the school board meeting position; five woman, two men; two African Americans and five Caucasians. Multiple genders and ethnic groups attended the meeting and the audience were sitting in a theater setting, where as the board members were sitting facing the audience up front. It started at 4:30 p.m. and a African American man did attendance to people that were going to speak and talked about the agenda of what 's going on that evening. As a teacher managing problem behavior in your classroom can be one of the most challenging tasks. Behavior problems can range from disruption of lessons to acts of violence against fellow students and teachers. Children’s emotional setbacks and life challenges can also contribute to behavior issues at school. A study done by the Justice Center and the Public Policy Research Institute found that six out of ten students suffered from an “emotional disturbance” and were expelled or suspended between seventh and twelfth grade (Firke, 2011). This same study showed that discipline varied greatly between schools. This report also revealed the urgent need for a more thoughtful technique in school discipline policies. In many cases teachers have exhausted their classroom management strategies without success. Behavior Modification is aimed at improving school and classroom behavior, and can give teachers additional tools to help them to deal proactively and effectively with behaviors that are disruptive to students and teachers in the classroom. When children are disruptive in the classroom it can cause a lot of problems for their classmates and their teacher. Yet, in the long run, it's the disruptive child themselves who is most impacted, on both a social and educational level (Epstein, Atkins, Cullinan, Kutash, & Weaver, 2008). As a person who was born and grew up in China, I had been intimidated by English writing for many years. This being my first year of teaching I feel there are so many things that I have learned, and have helped me too become a good teacher. Yet I have so much more to learn, I still believe that students have the ability to learn and as a teacher it is my job to find ways to help them to become the best person they can be. Through being a reflective teacher, using professionalism, respecting diversity and having collaboration and community connecting this can be accomplished. When I am having fun teaching the student will have learning that material, this will help them to be relaxed and engaged in that lesson. I feel it is important to connect what they are learning to things that they have experienced in the real-world.
When I reflect back to the beginning of this semester I am astonished at how much I have learned. English 124 has been a real eye opener for me. Not only have I grown as a writer, but it has challenged me to become more of a critical thinker. In the class we have read many articles on diverse topics, studied theories of history’s greatest philosophers of education, and wrote various styles of papers.

In high school, English was my strongest and favorite subject. I never had to work as hard in English as I did in math or any other subjects I took in high school. My peers would cram all night for a Literature test we were going to have but not I. I excelled in writing essays about Moby Dick and his white Whale or Beowulf and Grendel. My confidence in my ability to write was always high and when I enrolled at Chattahoochee, I assumed my confidence would not waiver. When I received my grade for my first paper, I was in shock of all the red ink that covered it. English 1101 taught me the skills I needed to have to be able to write a great paper and prepared me for what was to come for English 1102. English 1102 have taught me to rethink my abilities as a writer and to work harder and spend more time on my essays and think outside the box.
To write a reflection paper about the whole TESOL project for the past one and a half years is not a difficult thing for me because I never regret my choice to study in Alliant International University and learning master’s TESOL program here. With completing the master’s TESOL program, I was be able to benefit a variety of new things from different courses, as well as refresh my memory on thing that I already knew.
