This assignment has allowed me to grow both academically and personality wise. Our prompt for this assignment was to use the Jane Schaffer method to write the two themes of First Confession by Montserrat Fontes, not only did we write the theme but we explained why the were important to the story. As I worked with my group on our essay and graphic, both the process and results made me start thinking about it even more. Not only that many other groups in our class have helped inspire and prepare me for the next project. Working with my group and seeing how our presentation went I would say everything went well, but could have done better. Our teamwork, graphic, presentation, and essay went quite well for this assignment. We helped each …show more content…
Most of the groups had used Messages and Google Docs. Using Messages would have been helpful to my group, since there were times when we couldn’t contact each other or work on it because of no internet. Not only did they show me that Messages was useful. Because my team was one of the last two groups to go, the teams before us gave me examples of what to do for our presentation. Most of their presentations were well done, but there are some things that they could have fixed. In the beginning of a presentation we were supposed to write their names down and this was hard because their names were too small for me. Also even though they tried to make contact with the audience it would have been nice if I didn’t have to see them lift their heads up and down often. What they could have done was broken their parts up and remember certain parts so they wouldn’t have to bob up the heads. However, even though they did that I could hear their voices loud and clear. Thanks to our project I was able to realize the mistakes I made that help impact my personality and what I would do next time. My group was able to efficiently work through this with hopefully flying colors even though there were some problems. The other groups in our class have also demonstrated what they can accomplish and were able to help me realize our mistakes. Now I am prepared and ready for my next project thanks to my group and the other groups in my
The presentation was also an impressive experience. I never made a presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedback from professor and other students was very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s goal was also kind of ambiguous.
This paper will outline specific points in Saint Augustine’s Confessions that highlight religious views following the fall of Rome. Though Augustines views on religion may not reflect that of most people in his time period, it still gives valuable insight into how many, namely Neoplatonists,, viewed God and his teachings.
Other than that, the presentation itself went well, but, they were some feedbacks on the slides we did. It could have been improved by adding pictures to make it seem more interesting so people would not feel boring during our presentation.
In “The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner”, written by James Hogg, narrative contestation is a large part of the novel, as it is not one singular story, and rather a contest of stories played out in a contest of narrative written by both Robert Wringham and a fictitious Editor . The first section of the book, the ‘Editor’s narrative’, provides a seemingly objective historian’s editorial to the memoirs, whilst the second section of the book, the ‘Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Sinner’ is a biographical account of Robert Wringham’s life. Despite the two sections essentially retelling the same tale, the discrepancies between the two narratives leave the reader constantly unsure exactly what is true, and unable to be certain of the actual events that occured. The Editor concludes in his Editorial that “I account all the rest either dreaming or madness”, which makes the reader question the objectivity of the historian writing the Editorial, whilst Wringham’s memoirs display his continued descent into depravity and madness until such time as he takes his own life, also questioning the validity of his account of events given his deteriorating psyche. The reader has to account for the reliability of the narrator and textual evidence in order to draw a conclusion on whether the contest between the two narratives can be resolved and closure achieved.
I have matured more as a person and have realized that I need to work hard but understand that it’s okay to give yourself a break sometimes. I often over stressed about my school work and it didn’t benefit me all the time. This project highlighted that I am creative, hardworking, and patient. I had to be creative when I came up with my painting idea and hardworking to get it done. I had to be patient when completing the painting because it took a lot of time and I really wanted them to look good. I learned that donating to your community around you not only benefits that person or group, but also benefits yourself too. I learned that I really like making people happy because it makes me happy and will be volunteering in the
In society, tradition acts as the foundation for the treasured customs of every culture. Tradition plays a central role in two short stories: “First Confession,” written by Frank O’Connor, and “From Behind the Veil,” written by Dhu’l Nun Ayyoub. Following seven-year-old Jackie’s life in the Catholic faith, O’Connor portrays the main character’s struggle with the traditional ceremonies and values in his religion. In “From Behind the Veil,” Ayyoub explores the different meanings behind the Islamic custom of veiling in the eyes of Siham, a young Muslim girl. Originating from starkly different cultures, both “First Confession” and “From Behind the Veil” suggest that traditional beliefs may diminish in today’s society as a result of conflict
Augustine, in Book VII of the Confessions, determines Christianity and the Platonists have many similarities, as well as many differences. Behind all the differences, are the notions of humility and grace that are found within Christianity but not found within the Platonist’s ideology. Even though he affirms the truths in Christianity, Augustine has a hard time fully pursuing God because of the habits that he has formed throughout his life. He realizes that having the will to follow God is not enough for his will to actually follow God. Augustine discovers that through transformation and development it is possible to fully follow God. With all these observations, it is important to realize that the main differences between Christianity and the Platonists are the
With proper planning, consideration, and communication my project was a moderate success. With reflection and evaluation it was a useful learning experience for both of us. As a result of that partnership I have a deeper understanding of what works for me. I continue to work in partnership with organization in varying capacities and every experience provides me with a chance to learn something new.
In Augustine’s Confessions, Augustine is faced with many different situations and tough times, but during these times he is also blessed with good friends who help him through all of it. His story as a whole represents the purpose of life, which is finding people to inspire him, help him, love him, and have his best interests at heart to lead him to his destiny. Throughout
I was able to fit in the sub-culture they have in the company as well as completing the task on time. Also, due to the fact that not everyone is desire or having the same level of needs for each particular area (Bauer and McDonald, 2015), I was able to observe the behavior of every of my team members towards different goals that they set. Therefore, I can see both the pros and cons of the members and then adjust my actions and working styles so that I can cope with them. Furthermore, having a chance to encounter the real working life is an eye-opening experience, I learnt things that are not taught in school books and interact with people who are expert in their field. However, there is always the other side of the coin, being a new team member can be a drawback as the existing teams have already working on project for a long period of time. Thus, I was not given the permission to join in and that create distance between me and the
I enjoyed working as a group, as it meant I could experience other people's opinions and ideas that I may not have come to my mind during the time and gave me a different perspective on how to approach the oral presentation. I have learned how to work as a group, all our ideas helped me, raising my knowledge with information, and finding new learning techniques that have changed the way I consider what I'm prepared
In the end, my team and I got an A- for our presentation and paper. I believe that this project was completely successful and although there were some difficult times throughout the process, I am proud to say that we all stayed committed to the project. I feel that this was my most significant leadership experience because I used everything I learned through my experience in business organizations to make this project come to life. I felt that I showed the qualities of a good leader because I was determined, motivated, worked well with the team, delegated tasks to the team effectively, and communicated with the team to make this project
~Before I begin this letter, I want you to know that the reason why I’m sharing this with you is because I feel that I have to be completely honest about something that’s very personal to me. Originally, I wanted to tell you, but I just did not feel comfortable and I did not trust you enough. But, I can not keep this from you any longer. I hope after I explain this that you can understand why I did so~
For Mechanical system design the project was to make a solar boat which we did successfully. Through this project I have learnt a lot about the designing and as well as about the boats. It also gave a briefing on product development process and the stages of design. Furthermore, it also helped me with the skills of project management and working in team which is very useful.
For my group presentation of the act of courage I feel as I did the most I could with the the act we did. Throughout the whole process there were many good and bad things done. But overall, I as an individual did not to bad of a job in working in a group. Besides the little mistakes here and there the group and myself did a great job presenting kids and the class with the act of courage we had to offer.
