After evaluating my schedule and calendar, what I am most worried about is seeing finals week. Finals week is going to cause me to study the whole week before and during the week to pass my exams. Also I am worried about all the readings I have for English and political on the same days. I will need to use my time efficiently to allow me to complete the readings for both classes. I feel that I can confidently approach my homeworks for math and english. I usually understand my math work which allows to complete the homework with ease. For my english writing response, I make sure to understand the writing prompt before I leave the class to complete my work with ease or ask questions before I leave. The bad habits that I must overcome is procrastinating and managing my time efficiently. …show more content…
Putting as much time as I possibly can into my work will allow me to achieve the objective of the assignment. Managing my time efficiently will allow me to put as much time as I need into my academics as well as personal time. Anytime during the semester I can adjust the amount of time I need to study or time I need to do assignment. For example, when approaching finals week, I can focus on my more difficult classes to better prepare myself for the exam and for academic success.I have put my personal care second to my academics because my success in Stanislaus State is my priority The goals I have set for myself to be academically successful are achievable because the only thing that is necessary to a accomplish them is my time and
Scheduling and planning are necessary to be successful as a working student. Setting time aside for school assignments is a priority, but it is also important to build in personal time for you, your family, and friends (Blais & Hayes, 2011). S...
Balancing my priorities by using an organized system has significantly helped me to manage my course work and assistantship goals and be able to include time for my training goals. The most impactful activity has been setting up a monthly, weekly, and daily calendar that covered the entire term with an outline of all major course assignments and assistantship projects with a clear timeline to complete all requirements. Unlike previous semesters, I felt more at ease during the final couple weeks of the semester compared to my peers. This semester, I will continue to commit Thursdays and Fridays to research assistantship work only. Structuring my time this way has really helped me to focus on specific assignments: I feel more effective when I can dedicate an entire day to one project, paper, or task. Though simple, writing everything down and keeping track of my time has facilitated effective prioritization of my time to achieving my goals.
Once attending university, not only is a person learning to find a balance between studying, attending or finding a job and enjoying leisure activities, but they are also discovering or developing skills they did not know they had. One of the most important skills that will be developed is that of time keeping and being able to prioritise activities and tasks effectively. Many students find it difficult to organise their social life along with the tasks of handing in assignments and getting into lectures on time, so the idea of list making and setting clear, achievable goals for themselves is a necessity. Dividing goals into key steps, helps the achiever of being able to carry out the task well, and also allows them to be able to reflect upon the their progress both during an after the achieved task. All tasks prepared and given to students during the academic process are provided with a time deadline and it is expected that they abide by this impecably, with unpleasant consequences if they do not. During this time, students learn that without time management skills that they learn within the academic structure it would be very difficult for them to be able to proceed into the working world without basic found skills having penitent consequences if not adhered to. During many classes and lectures within the academic world, lecturers and class leaders explain and maintain morals and practises that they developed and mastered during their time of entering the world of work, and ensure their aptitude and competence is inflicted and understood by their students. By ensuring these skills are shown by members of a higher rank, they are influencing and encouraging people to have the grounds to suceed in a pressurising enviroment.
I write this clear and concise reflection to identify and evaluate an academic problem that I feel is negatively impacting my studies which is time management; otherwise, I find lot of difficulty to manage my time.
To begin with, scheduling reading and assignments along with my personal obligations allows for organization and ultimately makes the process cohesive. The personalized schedule assignment was an eye opener. After creating the schedule, it was clear that adjustments were needed if it were to be followed. After adjusting the schedule, it was effortless to follow and was effective in helping to stay on task and not fall behind, and ultimately, lead to stable grades in all courses this semester. This is an exceptional tool to ensure one does not fall behind in their studies. Similarly, applying this strategy outside of academics has lasting benefits as well. When scheduling, be sure to include family time, chores, and any extracurricular activities; this approach has improved my time management skills tremendously. To summarize, a personal schedule is beneficial in academics, I encourage new students to create one and be sure to allot extra time and breaks, also, try to incorporate study time for each course every
In order to reach my educational goal, I will effectively utilize my time by organizing and prioritizing my tasks each day. I will also draw on my past experiences and current skills to succeed. For me to be successful at Florida Tech, I will have to plan out my schedule so I know everything that I need to get done on a daily basis, otherwise, I will not be able to finish my assignments on time. By planning out my schedule, I am able to use my time effectively and be aware of upcoming due
Throughout this course, I have faced many obstacles. One of the biggest struggles I faced was procrastination and being forgetful. I don’t feel that I am an awful writer; I feel that many of my low grade papers come from writing them the night before they were due. I’ve always had problems with writing papers last minute in high school. The difference between the two is that in high school if I didn’t have a paper in on time, I could turn it in late and still receive positive feedback and a pretty decent grade. In this course, it is a big deal to turn in something late. I feel that if I had used my time wisely and paced out the papers that I wrote, they would be better
I’ve learned from my mistakes and will make an effort to put all of these strategies into effect today, therefore I can create a habit that will cut down on my study time in addition to helping me to retain more of the concepts faster. I’ve already started to use a google chrome app that allows me to plan out my activities based upon the week. It has a built in timer set for 25 mins and set to have a 5-minute break once time is up. All in all, if I can manage my time more intelligently, and have more confidence in my reasoning, then I will succeed on the next exams from this point
I have been completing assignemnts before the due dates and I I learned that in order to produce good results, it is important to begin as early as possible in order to avoid mistakes. I have also started to use a journal. A journal will help me organize my due dates and other important events or meetings. I know that if I continue this habit, it will negatively impact me when I get into the work force. By organizing myself and balancing out my studies and my personal life, I can have time to enjoy both. I learned that if I want to be a great employee, prorastiantion can not be tolerated. Errors in my presenation, exeels or documents can lead me to be fired. Instead punctuality and time management are essential or else my employer will fire me. Asking questions is just as important in the workforce. In order to produce succesful results it is important to understand the
When it comes to our personal and professional lives, Managing your time efficiently should be a mastered ability. As a student, this could have a huge effect on performance and grades. Seeing that Time Management is imperative when it comes to college and success, recognizing bad habits, should be one of the first obstructions immediately eliminated from your daily schedule. Create new habits if you tend to procrastinate and start planning ahead to manage your most important priorities. According to David Allen (2001),"Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" (p.59) "changes in the way you clarify and organize all things that command your attention-could represent a significant shift in how you approach some key aspects of your day to day work." Setting up deadlines and completing your assignments a few days before the due date will eliminate the procrastination stage. Creating a list with the most important priorities first, will help sort out your assignments and eliminate stress and feeling overwhelmed.
I already know that Tuesdays and Thursday are my busiest of days so putting more effort on Mondays and Wednesdays will be vital to staying on track. I also realized that I am easily distracted when others are around so my best time for course work will be right when I get home from work each day while I am still alone and most effective. I typically have about 2 hours each night before my significant other arrives home therefore if I can commit to utilizing that time to chip away at the weeks’ assignments I should be
Since I have been in college, the difference in the amount of work and content of the assignments has allowed me to adapt my academic skills. The first thing that I noticed in my new surroundings is that I had poor time management and procrastinated even the smallest assignments. After having spent some time to settle in to the environment, I developed a stronger, more organized sense of time management. Having developed this skill, I have allowed myself to take part in the academic resources that UMBC has to offer such as the writing center, the Shriver center, and the career development center.
When you control your time, and work more efficiently, you're able to learn more and increase your experience faster. Time management should also include more than teaching, scholarship, and service. Effective time management also means reserving time for recovery, and time for financial factors, time for family, and time for friends. Having a goal-oriented strategy that makes an effective use of your time will bring you success no matter how you look at it. There isn’t anything we can do about time itself. We can change how we deal with events
The academic journey from my childhood up to my ongoing college experience was an important role in defining who I am as an individual. Like any other person, I eventually gained the understanding and importance of essential qualities like time management, work ethic, developing strong mental mindset, and many other things throughout my years of education. Fortunately for me, I became aware of these things much earlier than my peers around me. However, being aware of these things was only a fraction towards success. Over time I’ve realized that the most critical part of success was gaining the discipline and willpower to apply these lessons and concepts.
I work in the day and attend school in the evening so it is critical for me to know how to manage my time effecteively. However my workload at work had became extremely unpredictable and with the weekly assignments for the FOUN1019 course it was very difficult for me to manage my time. I usually create a list of task I have to complete with the date it needs to be completed, then work on them individually to meet the due date. I realised this alone was not a very effective method for completing my assignment or managing time because I did not consider the preparation some of the task required. I then decided to approach my task differently to ensure that I was able to complete the weekly FOUN1019 assignment as well as other course work and the meet my deliverables at work. I kept making my list but I broke my task down into smaller task and allocate a time slot for finishing it eg. FOUN1019 Essay Outline would have several subtask: write introductory paragraph, write first body paragraph, write sentence outline for remaining body paragraphy and draft essay outline. I found this method to helped me to accomplish more task because I was more resoureful with my
