After taking exam one, I knew something had to change, I know there’s more for me to improve, and this is just the beginning of finding the perfect method to become an enhanced test taker. Taking the study skills assessment, it’s now clear to me what area’s I need to focus on in order to improve for the next quiz and exam. The study skill assessment clearly determined that my three major concerns were as follows; Time scheduling, Concentration, and Answering difficult questions and taking exams. These are the area’s I whole heartedly agree with because they apply to how well I did on the first exam and are the reasons why I got a C+ (79% to be exact) instead of getting the B-. Understanding my weakest areas of studying, I will use the strategies from the assessment and the website to fine tune what I’ve already establish. Time management did play a huge role in hindering my studies. Instead of making flash cards after each chapter, I decided to wait a week before the test to make my own review. On the website, I wrote down the five strategies that will help improve my study time. The first strategy stated to plan study times based upon your schedule, which this alone will force me to set a goal at least once a day or a few times a week to sit down and study that material during the time I specified. The second strategy stated to study at the same time everyday which in fact helps with repetition of the material, making easier to remember later and spend less time studying it later on. I’ve learned from my mistakes and will make an effort to put all of these strategies into effect today, therefore I can create a habit that will cut down on my study time in addition to helping me to retain more of the concepts faster. I’ve already started to use a google chrome app that allows me to plan out my activities based upon the week. It has a built in timer set for 25 mins and set to have a 5-minute break once time is up. All in all, if I can manage my time more intelligently, and have more confidence in my reasoning, then I will succeed on the next exams from this point
