There are a lot of actions I could take to improve my time management. I could turn off my phone to remove the possibility of distraction. When family or friends invite me to go somewhere, I should go instead of passing up the opportunity. If there happens to be any free time, that should be used to study or train...not sitting on my phone. In a way, I can connect to Tom Benecke because we don’t value the things that are important to us, but we should. Time management makes us well-rounded individuals and more productive as a whole in

I often feel I am short of time when I have many things to do at one time point and this is very stressful. With effective time management, I discovered many ways in which I can be successful with the management of my time and able to adjust my schedules and to lower time stress. For example, I took time to check my everyday activity and where do I spend most of my time. By careful evaluation, I realize I spent my time browsing the internet which often focus on some of the unproductive things. I started making my time productive by active focusing on important goals which included fitness, scheduling important work to less important tasks every day and slowly I effectively organized myself.
There are a variety of definitions of time management. Past researchers and authors, refer to the definition that time management involves the process of determining needs, setting goals to achieve and prioritizing and planning tasks. (Lakein, Alan., 1973). Being effective in time management is key in order to be successful in college and beyond. In college it can determine your grade on a test or paper. When you are not conscious of time and lose track of it, it can hurt you in the long run. It is important to have a schedule or calendar on tasks you need to finish. You do not want to wait until the last minute to begin doing an assignment. Research shows that students who procrastinated on assignments did poorly on the assignment than those who did not
Another factor to manage your time is to focus on whatever you want to do. “it is by choosing what things they will not do that most of the great people have been able to achieve excellence in what they did do.” When you have too many things to do at once you can’t possibly do as well as you would have done if you had had only one to focus on. he clarifies that statement by saying “most writers focus on writing, most painters on painting, most soldier on soldiering.” Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter how much distractions that life presents to
After I have set my schedule, I will begin tracking my progress and manipulating the schedule accordingly. I will follow the schedule I set for the day checking to see what things I have been able to accomplish. The first few days things while be moved around and prioritized, if I find out the task I assigned myself only takes forty-five minutes instead of an hour I may cut down the time I have allowed myself accordingly. The same is true for the opposite, and if something takes me an hour and thirty minutes when I only gave myself an hour, the schedules will be changed for the next day with more time allotted to the
Looking at my own approach to time management I have noticed that I am well organised and good at prioritising tasks and jobs. When I log onto my computer to start my shift I am sent down numerous jobs, each job is different and has different deadlines for attendance and completion. I plan my day based around the date and time deadlines of the jobs and also the locations of the jobs. I then schedule the most effective order of completing the jobs, putting high priority jobs at the top of my list and grouping sites that are geographically close to each other. By effectively planning my day I keep a focused attitude towards my work and I have time to think about tasks and situations, rather tha...
I learnt that time management acts as a tool to reduce stress at the workplace and in one’s personal life. Effective time management deals with goal setting, prioritization, managing interruptions, procrastination and scheduling.
Time management has been a long time problem for me. I have always found excuses for not doing things on time or running late. My main excuse is being involved in so many things as a college student. All of this is true, but it shouldn’t be an excuse. I currently work as a lifeguard between classes, tutor nights and weekends, work at a bar weekends, I hold a vice president position in American Marketing Association, I am a member of Society for Human Resource Management, team captain for Cleveland State’s division I swim team, and I am co-president for Student Athletic Advisory Board. Good time management is needed for all these extras. If I could improve my time management skills I think I would get better in most things that I do. I would be able to enhance my grades in school and be better in the workforce. I would be more relaxed and have a feel of control.
Do not procrastinate. Choose a task and start working on it. Delaying a task will only make it that much hard to get started. Commit yourself to working on the task for a specific amount of time each day until it is completed.
When it comes to our personal and professional lives, Managing your time efficiently should be a mastered ability. As a student, this could have a huge effect on performance and grades. Seeing that Time Management is imperative when it comes to college and success, recognizing bad habits, should be one of the first obstructions immediately eliminated from your daily schedule. Create new habits if you tend to procrastinate and start planning ahead to manage your most important priorities. According to David Allen (2001),"Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" (p.59) "changes in the way you clarify and organize all things that command your attention-could represent a significant shift in how you approach some key aspects of your day to day work." Setting up deadlines and completing your assignments a few days before the due date will eliminate the procrastination stage. Creating a list with the most important priorities first, will help sort out your assignments and eliminate stress and feeling overwhelmed.
First, you need to know how you daily spend your time . So sit and take a piece of paper then start writhing things that you do when you wake up in morning until you go bed to sleep. You also need to write time that you use for each activity. For example , I spend 10 minutes when I ate breakfast. After noting things down , look at activities and time that you took in doing it . Then , start to evaluate these activities by looking at result that you got. You will notice that you did some useless activates , that wasted your time. You will also notice that there are some important activities which you need to provide them with more time. Therefore, you need to analyze results and give appropriate time for each activity. As in above example, I think I need to spend less time like five minutes for breakfast. As Panella (2001) said noting things down, will help you to know where you waste and use your time ,and then manage it. You will see which activity needs more time and which needs less? Second, as you analyzed your activities , you need to set your priorities. You should write or list things that you want to accomplish based on its importance and urgency. Important activities needs more time and effort. As Tolstoy (n.d.) said you need to set your goals depending in your priorities. For example, if you have a math homework which you need to submit it tomorrow and you also have to prepare for a presentation , and the presentation will be next week , How you will set your priorities? You need to write your math homework first because it is urgent, and you could prepare your presentation after writing your homework. you will just take around 5 to 10 minutes writing your homework and about 15 minutes start to preparing your presentation. Doing presentation looks like a big project ,so if you breaks this project in small tasks that you can do them in different days , you will save time and
