During the course of this min-mester I have attended class 90% of the time needed or asked by my professor. The other 10% that I was unable to attain class was due to the fact that life its self cannot be avoided no matter how hard on tries.
As far as my Active Engagement during this course I would say I did great. Putting forth the effort to social engage in the class as well as engage in groups to successfully gather the information the professor Dr. Kennedy was giving the students and I with the outcome of the progress my writing has come.
Being prepared for this course was also a successful experience, buying the required books for the course and having a laptop in order to work on and

Being in class 100% would have benefited me more than 90% did.
During the course of my next English class I will follow with what I have done thus far, I will take what Dr. Kennedy has thought me such as, KIA and the Meal Plan and imply both in my writing from this moment on. With what Dr. Kennedy has shown me with both KIA, and The Meal Plan I believe it has changed my writing for the better. With well-developed essays and even less than that well developed paragraphs and I am grateful for the chance to have learned these exercises from Dr.

Kennedys teaching methods it was a change that was able to be made. With practice and websites I did make the transition in to the writer I am now, but before I show that example let me just explain it was not at all easy. When one is used to doing something or even thinking they are doing it correctly it becomes effortless like it is trained in your mind and it just happens. The first struggle was noticing when I made the mistake I was already half way there because I knew I was making one. Then it was discovering why I was making it. It is hard to change what one is doing if they do not know why they are doing it. Being confused with when and where to place commas or if it is a complete sentence is what my struggle was. I’ll show
Now, I not only have a new found confidence in writing and in my life skills. Mrs.Cohen provided proper feedback and guidance with each assignment. Due to this, my writing confidence flourished. Without this course, not to mention the teacher, I would not even think about applying for dual enrollment. I certainly feel I have improved in English classes and my passion was rekindled. Mrs.Cohen made me find the enjoyment in writing again and inspired me to be myself. I wish to keep my work ethic, strong to become successful while being myself and I will be forever thankful for
I would like to start off with thanking you for having the time to review the work and effort that I have put into my English 101 Final Portfolio. In the time in class that I have had this quarter I have learned new techniques that I had not known before in writing, for example I have learned about how to build paragraphs in a correct formal way. In my work in the portfolio I hope to show how my skills as a writer have improved from the work I have done before. I plan to take the experience that I have had in this class and take it with me to help me improve as a student on other class topics. In the time that I have been in class I believe that it has helped me in a positive way to help me manage my time, along with building my confidence in writing. In this beginning of the quarter I had many challenges when it came to writing a paper and I feel that I have improved my skills when it came to writing an essay.
My first college English class was ENC 1101 at the State College of Florida. In this course, I learned a vast amount of information about writing, reading, and grammar. When I first walked into ENC 1101 in August, I expected the class to be like any other English class in High School; with rushed busy work and a lot of useless tests and quizzes. However, throughout each week of the semester, Professor Knutsen’s class made me beg to differ. This class was not like any other high school English class. In this class I actually learned important information and did not do work just to complete it. This class had a few assignments here and there, enough to maintain, in order to learn proper information. I learned a lot in this class because I was not rushed to
...on, this course has taught me many different aspects to writing that I was unaware of in high school. This course has been incredibly fulfilling for me and has been nothing short of an amazing experience. I truly believe all of the things I have learned within this course, such as, writing proper thesis statements, proving my points within the body, discussing topics that critically engage my readers, the use of grammar, and many other essential skills will help me tremendously on my educational path. Although I have learned many skills as to writing a quality essay, I know there are many aspects to writing I can improve on, such as, expanding on my introductions and providing more background within my topics to the readers. I am extremely grateful for the various skills I have learned throughout this course, and I fully intend to utilize them all as I move forward.
This is your opportunity to convince me that you have understood the key concepts taught in this class and incorporated them into the essays you have written. Remember, your Portfolio Reflective Essay should be a close, critical reading
As we approached the due date for the first essay assignment, the professor asked us to share our introduction paragraph aloud to the class. Since I barely knew any of my peers, I found the aspect of participation terrifying at first. However after becoming familiar with my surroundings and fellow mates, I felt at ease sharing what I my thoughts and receiving positive feedback. Suchexposures have allowed me to figure out the proper writing techniques thus giving a chance for a better grade in any writing assignment. Group workshops were helpful, along with the assessment done between two other students, all of which helped me figuring out my mistakes and improve on those points later in my revision process. The transition between high school paper and college paper has led to a dis...
...ach day in class I participated to my fullest extent answering questions, maintaining eye contact, and staying attentive and alert during class each day. I stayed after class to arrange meetings with all three of my essays and showed up early each time. In which I read over comments made before hand and digested them myself and walked in with an idea on how to make my paper better, answer questions you may have had towards my paper, and had questions on what I could do to make my paper better. While my work in the class my not have reflected an A I feel my time and participation are well on the track to excellence in the world of academic writing. “Once a person is determined to help themselves, there is nothing that can stop them.” (Nelson Mandela) I am determined to hone my skills of writing and make an impact where ever I grace the strokes of a pen or keyboard.
In this portfolio reflection essay I will be addressing the five essays I have written for my English 101 class. Along with addressing the five essays I have wrote I also will be stating my strengths and weaknesses of those essays. The five essays this portfolio will include is a diagnostic essay, revised narrative essay, profile essay, evaluation essay, and arguing a position essay. Those five essays I have written over the course of this semester have been very helpful towards my writing skills. Punctuating, staying on topic, my introductions, and conclusions are areas I struggle with when writing papers, but by writing those five papers during this semester has helped me improve on those areas.
This class made me face the repeated mistakes of laziness in my techniques, and created an importance to write what really needs to be said and nothing less. I had a very tough and intelligent teacher for my class in which he would not let laziness or anything but perfect slide. At first I was frustrated and lost, but after relearning how to write properly with actually needed content, I understand and appreciate his teaching. My teacher never forgot to call out any “fillers” I used out of bad habit and carelessness, in doing so changed the quality of the content that I write. Also pointing out the bad structure and overall messiness of my ideas and how they relate to one another, I gained valuable lessons on technique. I now write with purpose and intent with every sentence and within the structure of my papers, as well as spend more time understanding what I am really trying to say and prove. Without taking that AP English course and learning through my teacher that I once thought was too hard on his students, I wouldn’t be prepared for college or life in general. My knowledge now, that what you write should always be necessary to your point and how you write matters, I have reformed skills that will influence my resumes, college education, and even my career. I couldn’t be more grateful for what I learned and changed in that class and that I
...larify the structure and destination in which I was headed. By revising my essays I was able to make the content and message seem more important and made the final drafts seem a slight degree better than the originals, but the finals were better nonetheless. The instructor did a very good job in guiding me and helping find my way into writing by focusing on some of the problems I was facing and clarified them so that I would better understand them. The instructor helped me expand on my grammatical by helping me discover what it was that I lacked while constructing basic sentence structure; the usage of commas and semi-colons, quotations, and how to sight titles of books and articles within an essay. This English 101 course I have attended has helped me develop better writing skills as well as helped me create more profound essays and a very satisfying research paper.
This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. Throughout this essay, I will discuss my failures, my successes, my overall performance in the class, and my skill development skills.
Overall, my experience on the project was positive. I was very happy with the amount of things I have learned and experienced on this project to be a project manager. I believe that this course has served a platform for me to accomplish my dream as a project manager in the future which will be a good incentive for future career. I managed to pick up tips and learned different types of skills, from learning to communicate and deal with other member on the project team. However; I look forward to semester two in learning and developing as a project
At the start of this class, I made a goal to develop my writing skills to better prepare me for other courses for my degree. I knew English 106 would be different compared to any other English or college courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment will let me grow in diverse writing dimensions. My long serving years of experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures around the globe. In just seven weeks of the course, I have seen some improvement in my writing. This course has afforded me with several techniques that have made writing not only a little bit easier but also more in-depth resulting in a higher level of academic writing versus my normal military style writing. Now I understand the writing process and
In terms of Personal Development I feel that the course has helped me to develop the skills I need to improve my grades, and to build my confidence.
Before entering this class, I thought I was prepared for college English. I had incredibly capable high school English teachers, who taught me detailed mechanics, creative writing style, and of course, the necessity of practicing good grammar. On entering this class, I quickly realized how little I had actually learned in my high school English classes. While most of my high school English essays I wrote were based on literature, the majority of the essays I wrote in this class have been more experiential and centered on real-life issues. I expected to be writing essays on books I read and articles I analyzed, but that was not the case. This class showed me in a variety of ways that things are often very different than they seem originally
