In my mind, a paradigm is how i choose to percept the world around me. I would be lying through my teeth if i said that I have never had a negative paradigm about myself. It’s a seemingly natural part of being a teenager. However, i think that it is the types of paradigms we hold in front of our eyes that make all of our viewpoints so unique and valuable. However, the majority of teens share certain paradigms like “Math is an asian thing” and “Football players aren’t good at academics”. I assume that this is how cliques separate in school, they can connect with each other through the paradigms they share. had routine eye appointments. One of the tests i did there was to see what my power was. To do this i tried on many different lenses to see which one was the best fit for me. The thing with that is that some lenses made my vision so blurry my head started to hurt immediately. On the other hand, some lenses made my vision clearer than i could ever imagine. These lenses are a lot like paradigms, they can really impact that clarity in the way you visualize the world.
I suppose you could see paradigms as superpowers at a more exaggerated perspective. I suggest this because like powers, paradigms can be both good and bad, for yourself and others. For example, the author Sean Covey explains the story of King Louis and how the paradigm he had of himself prevented him from succumbing to society’s want for him to not be successful. On the other hand, an example of a negative paradigm would be one i had of myself last year in math class. Being surrounded by children whose level of intellect in the field far surpassed mine, i felt more insecure and i began to tell myself that i would always be below my peers in math. For months i kept this same mindset but eventually came to the realization that thinking those thoughts wasn’t going to make any better. Soon I began to see these students as inspiration to make myself better, i tried to see what they did to be so successful. I applied the thing i saw them do, and i saw that my grades dramatically improved. This brings me to the point that despite the presence of a bad paradigm, it is still possible to replace it with a good
one. So whether a paradigm is permanent or not, is all up to you to make the distinction and decision between the two options. Paradigms strongly impact how you view other people. For example, in Taylor Swift’s music video “You belong with me”, I like how the director appealed to our paradigms of other people when designing the characters. For example, the mean girl fit just about everyone’s idea of the typical “popular mean girl”. She had everything from an expensive car, to short skirts, to being the cheer captain. Even with the nerd, she has the typical glasses and was holding a book in one of the scenes. However, with the nerd, the viewer experiences a paradigm shift when she shows up to the dance with great makeup, beautiful hair, and a stunning dress. In our minds she goes from being a nerd to a beautiful confident woman.

A theoretical perspective or paradigm is a set of ideas that attempt to guide your thinking and explain viewpoints. Within the field of sociology, there are many paradigms. These include structural-functionalism, social conflict, feminism, symbolic interactionism, and postmodernism. As a female who appreciates a viewpoint outside of the standard male outlook, my favorite theoretical paradigm is feminist theory.
When somebody abuses a great amount of power, that individual can lose all their power. The struggle against someone who abuses power is perfectly depicted in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Ken Kesey. When someone abuses their power, they can impose certain feelings and actions onto others. If someone tries to conceal their personality, . Finally, if someone abuses power and is constantly challenged by another individual who is trying to take the power abuser’s power away from them, the power abuser will always be frightened of his or her challenger. When someone abuses power and takes full control, they can lose all their power and respect quickly.
I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is an amazing opportunity anyone is lucky to have, and I am more than happy to accept it. I love helping people, being able to feel accomplished knowing I put a smile on someone’s face. Being in the National Junior Honor Society, I’d love to share my ideas and thoughts on how to make the world a better place.

Spirituals: African American spirituals are a key contribution to the creation of the initial genre of jazz. African Americans used spirituals during the earliest turmoil of slavery. These spirituals were used as songs to sing during labor and an initial way of communication for the Underground Railroad. These African American folk sounds mixed with gospel hymns were sun fused with instruments such as the harmonicas, banjos, and other instruments that could primarily be found. This initial form of the music started to separate itself from the gospel rendition. This mixture of different styles of music fused and gave birth to such things as minstrel shows, ragtime, and other forms of music. The most important that spirituals truly helped develop, was Jazz. Spirituals were the first true form of Negro expression in the form of music. Marshall W. Steams, Professor of English Literature at Hunter College states that “The spiritual was created out of nowhere by a sort of spontaneous combustion of Negro’s genius” (125). This mixture of hymns and instrumental instruction took form into one of the most versatile genres known to date, Jazz.
Intersectionality is a term used to describe a situation whereby an individual has multiple identities and as result, the person feels that he or she doesn’t belong to one community or another. Because of the many conflicts in an individual’s identities, he or she could be a victim of multiple threats of discrimination (Williams, 2017). The discrimination could be a result of race, gender, age, health and ethnicity among others. To give an example, a black transgender woman could be discriminated in the workplace because of being black and also because she is transgender. From an intersectionality perspective, the woman faces multiple threats of discrimination because of the overlapping identities of gender and race and therefore the transwoman faces a bigger struggle (Barber, 2017). Transwomen of color will most likely encounter prejudices in the form of homophobia, racism or sexism in many dimensions of their life. In summary reflexivity relates to judgements made from one's own personal experiences. By being reflexive and recognising that I am part of the research data and through exploring my own practice with the intention of understanding my practice, I show how I am part of the research. With this new knowledge I continue knowing differently that my story is my data and as such the application of reflection/reflexivity, in such a way as Bolton, Freire and Cuncliffe suggests, will make it all the richer and more valuable.

The last tenant to my philosophy of education that relates to classism in the classroom is to not single out one class represented in my classroom. I will work individually and collaborate to change classroom and school practices that downgrade our students. If I see a student in need or struggling I will work with them one on one to help them complete the assignment or learn a specific subject. If a student comes to me with a concern I will speak to them individually and then speak with the class as a whole to collaborate the situation. No student in my classroom will be hurt or discouraged because of the background and class they come from. Instead we will work out situations and treat everyone with equal respect.
In order to answer this question, one needs to understand that every person comes from a different background and that everyone has a different way to perceive the world. According to Paul Hiebert (an American missiologist) worldview is defined as “the fundamental cognitive, affective, and evaluative presuppositions a group of people make about the nature of things, and which they use to order their lives”. “Changing Educational Paradigms” is a video where Sir Ken Robinson explains why he believes the current educational system has to change in order to stop the rise of American students being treated for ADHD.
