Evolution of Skateboarding
One faces a life of ups and downs, as it goes down, it is evolving throughout time. The Ollie, a no handed aerial or basic skateboard trick, was invented by Alan Gelfand in the late 1970’s. Similar to a doing an Ollie the rider must pop and pick the board up using their feet sailing high in the air eventually, gravity brings one down at some point, but as it is done more over time progression increases. This sport has always been an individual one. Those who took part in the sport would only have themselves to depend on. Unlike other sports, kids who participate in skaters did not have a coach to teach them how it was done. Skaters who are both determined and resilient will succeed in skateboarding. Skaters had it different from normal people because unlike others, no one else in the world was moving like they were or doing the tricks that were being done out there in the streets.
The life of the Skateboard went through a struggle involving consistency, full of ups and downs as the years went on. Rejected by society, skateboarding was not always considered as a sport by everyone. Some may believe Skateboarding to this day still does not oblige to the requirements of what a sport is, but those claims are just as wrong as society itself. As of the twenty first century Skateboarding has risen from the bottom and faced deficits throughout life. Only Skateboarding faced a prohibition, while still able to make it into the ESPN or XGames world and having a large impact in kids lives everywhere. Changing the outlook people have, on Skateboarding and those who partake in the sport, will forever be an ongoing challenge that will slowly make progression. The first skateboards were made in the 1950’s being used as an exciting activity to take part in when the waves were down. From then and now the sport has changed tremendously, thanks to a group of young skaters from a slum area of Venice Beach or Dog-town, as the locals called it, known as the z-boys in the 1970’s. Interestingly enough, snowboarding was invented by Sherman Poppen in North Muskegon, Michigan, back in 1965. Nowadays, snowboarding is considered one of the most popular winter sports among teenagers. On the other hand, there are many people that don’t have the slightest idea how to ride a snowboard straight down a hill. There are four steps to learn the basic skills of snowboarding.
All skateboarders are not lazy stoners that don’t have a job, they also have other useful talents. People also find skateboarders looking like a group of kids that they should stay away from. Another skateboarder that believes skateboarding is not a crime states, “What is it about a skateboarder that people find so threatening? Is it because we hang out in big groups wherever we go, and the threat we give because of they way we look or the size of the group we have. People paint a stereotype for a skateboarder to be a destructive outlaw, whose intention is to run around causing trouble and threatening old people walking down the street.”

In the late 1970’s and 1980’s, skateboarding became very popular. After a few years of skating everyday, Rodney became the best in the world. But with success, there comes struggles too. Rodney had his fair share of both. Although Mullen had struggles throughout his entire life, he became a major influence and success in the skateboarding industry.
In this paper I will be discussing the idea of constructing a local skateboard park in Richmond Hill. I will be looking at the pros and cons of building a skateboard park and it’s impacts on society through the use of examples and information I have researched.
All moderately sized towns should have a skatepark for three main reasons: it will make the town look like a nice place to live, the kids in the town won’t be getting into trouble for skating around town, and it is a lot safer than skating in the streets. In countless cities around the world, well-built skateparks have also been proven to be valuable community assets with tremendous benefits. Instead of viewing skateboarding as a negative problem that needs to be solved, these forward-thinking communities have found ways to embrace these sports while showcasing their artistic and acrobatic spirit(“The Benefits”).
One of the popular shops was called Fafnir and the cost of the bearings were very cheap. Later on in China they started to make Bones bearings and those are still around today. The very first Bones bearing was Reds and they have just gotten better and better. Then they made Bones Swiss and those are the fastest compared to the Bones Reds. When those kinds of bearings came out that was when skateboarding was born.
Skateboarding is a sport that many individuals in our society do recreationally or even professionally. There are many popular locations for skateboarding that people go to watch the sport in live action. Hollyfield Park is a popular skateboarding destination that many people come to. In today’s technologically growing society, it is very hard to see people outside playing or doing something they love. Banning this sport is essentially stripping away a large community of people from having fun and doing what they love.
It is beneficial for everyone to get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery in their cities. Many like to take strolls, others like to play sports. One sport in particular that allows people to enjoy the outdoors is skateboarding. Skateboarding has been popular for many people in Jerrytown for a long time, and has allowed them to appreciate the city. However, there is a proposal for a ban on the skateboards.
In conclusion, the game is more than one hundred years old. It has expanded to include amateurs to professionals. The rules have changed somewhat for the better of the game. This truly American sport is still fun, competitive, and exciting!
Skateboarding competitions are amazing to watch! With talented skateboarders competing the adrenaline felt by even watching this amazing sport is all consuming. It's no surprise that this sport brings in five billion dollars a year. These people have talent, dedication, drive and the ability to push fear out the window and do what they love to do: Skate. Skating has grown a lot in the past few years and there is many skating YouTube channels. Many of them are really big channels as well. A lot of people hate skating because it can be dangerous. skating is dangerous but that’s part of the fun.
