A girl living in slums of Uganda had a tryst with God through an evangelistic Sports Outreach Ministry (SOM) which introduces her to chess. As Phiona Mutesi grew in Jesus, she found that He has gifted her to play chess and be marvellous at it! Then she goes on to become national champion. This is the real-life story "Queen of Katwe" produced by Disney, where Mutesi is played by actress Lupita Nyong'o. The movie had a limited release on September 23th, and will be up for theatrical release on September 30th. Mutesi's father had died on AIDS, and she was raised by a single mother. When she was 9 years old, she was led to the Sports Outreach chess program in which she initially had no interest. But she continued to attend it as they also …show more content…
Katende teaches the children lessons of God through chess, one of them being that it was important to reset the chess pieces and play again. She then went on to win Uganda's junior girls' championship three times. In 2009, she and two other boys from SOM won Africa's International Children's Chess Tournament in Sudan. "We're actually ecstatic because we believe [the movie] is going to be a tremendous bridge between the faith-based approach to restoring hope and transforming lives, and ... the humanitarian approach that normally a Disney company would accentuate more so," Sal Ferlise, CEO of SOM based in Virginia, told Baptist Press. "So we see those two [approaches] kind of coming together in maybe not as overt a fashion on the Christian side, but it's definitely there. You can't walk away from [viewing the movie] if you're intelligent and not realize that there's a faith element that's transcending through the process." One of Mutesi's favorite moments in the movie is when she asks her coach Katende, where her "safe square" was. Mutesi said that her safe square in real life was not on chess board, but in the God she believes
Next I will talk about her teenage years of her childhood. She was a multisport athlete growing up, but she didn’t start playing organized soccer until she was 14 years old. She attended Diamond Bar High School, where she was named as the NSCAA all American. After her High School years she went to the University of California as u all may know. Also where she led the Golden Bears to the NCAA Tournament in each of her 4
Writer and Director David Twohy hasn’t forgotten his connection with faith whatever it might be. Twohy uses a lot of visuals that have to do with faith, we don’t know what his faith is or was. Faith in movies may be there, but not noticeable. Maybe as Christian movie watchers we should be more ready to see more connections of faith in movies.

Being an athletic director seems like an amazing job because of the interaction with people and being around athletics. A lot of kids are involved in at least one sport, if not more, during their life time. Being an athletic director would give the opportunities for the kids to enjoy the sport or sports they are in by having an organized program and making it a good experience for them. An athletic director’s job is very important, they make sure every thing is in tact and organized. They make the schedules and let everyone know what is going on.

...) it is a valid point that maybe there should be more about the Resurrection at the end of the film. However, viewers of the Christian faith will know this, and those who are not may be curious and question the story for themselves.
The Los Angeles Times called the film more of bible study than anything else “ so heavy on broad pulpit pounding that its challenging to get swept away by the story’s message.”
Roles, Aims and Objectives of Two Sports Organizations I have chosen two sports organisations involved in development schemes and I will look at their roles, aims and objectives. The two organsations I have chose to focus on are The National Association for Sports Development (NASD) and The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS). I chose these two organisations as I thought they would be interesting organisations to concentrate on and I found a fair bit of research on each of the two organisations. As a Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports, I was tasked with organizing a 2-ball indoor soccer tournament, which is a sport I have never seen played before. All my research in the sport brought me right back to Oklahoma State University Competitive Sport Program. It was obvious, that it is not played as frequent in other parts of the country as much as it is here. With that in mind the question became “How is it possible to get people interested in participating such a sport?” My task was to garner a high volume of interest, game sign-up’s, and participation. Many students use intramural activity to get exercise. The literature shows that physical activity has many health benefits. Three to six hours of sport participation a week is associated
Not only does this movie deal with the issues of society, but it points to biblical scriptures that help lead us in the right direction. The biggest lesson that this film taught me was that if I put my complete faith in God, then no matter what happens, he will provide, watch over, and take care of me. I learned that expressing belief in God is not enough. I have to live everyday believing and trusting him and I have to show my trust and faith through my actions and my words.
The call is the divine purpose given to those who follow Christ. As one learns and lives out their call, they are able to truly fulfill their divine purpose. Christians must understand how to identify their calling as well as understanding how to use their call to glorify God. God has shown me that my calling aligns with my passion to do ministry and glorify God. I have a passion to live a life that is worthy of being called a disciple of Christ. I am called to ministry and I will use my calling to glorify God and serve others.
If Bethany College was given 10 million dollars, I would suggest they use it to build a new sports complex. As we traveled to different schools for volleyball games, many players, along with myself, noticed that our gym is pretty outdated. Many of the sports complexes in our conference are very outdated, but the few that are newer look very nice and hold more people more comfortably.
Intramurals are an organization of sports teams created for students who seek the opportunity to play sports. Those who participate in intramurals range in age, ability, and gender. These sports teams allow students to play a sport they enjoy without committing to a varsity team. Intramurals are designed for everyone to have fun but still have a competitive edge. It is easy to get involved and learn about intramurals at the University of Dayton.
