Alex Kendricks War Room is an inspirational American Christian Drama film much like Fireproof. War Room is about a family that’s being torn apart due to a strained marriage but mended back together through the faith of God. It is emotionally relatable, charming, and can be seen as influential.
Watching War Room for the first time I immediately found the film emotionally relatable from the story line to the characters. To start, the story line isn’t one of a fantasy, but more of a reality. The characters Elizabeth, Mrs. Clara, Tony and Danielle seemed so real I could of thought I was watching someone’s life on camera. The film shows emotions

War Room shows such loving relationship being built you can not help but smile. The cutest little old lady Ms. Clara is selling her home and builds such a strong caring relationship with Elizabeth who is selling the house for her. In the instant their friendship was made by their first conversation you realize that a complete stranger can care and have better intentions for you than a person you’ve known for years. Watching this film can help regain the faith of almost any relationship that’s going wrong whether it be with a friend, a spouse or even a parent and child relationship. I was very fond of how the husband Tony rebuilt a stronger bond with his daughter Danielle just by realizing he was lacking attention and effort towards …show more content…
The Los Angeles Times called the film more of bible study than anything else “ so heavy on broad pulpit pounding that its challenging to get swept away by the story’s message.”
Top critic Matt Fagerholm argues “it may not be as brazenly offensive as ‘Gods Not Dead’ or as spectacularly inept as ‘Kick Camerons Saving Christmas,’ but it’s still awful, offering all the forced humor and superficial substance of a half- baked homily.
Movie nation Roger Moore claims “ its just a clumsily written, flatly-acted sermon built on some of the same stereotypes that made Tyler Perry rich.” Although there’s some who disagree that War Room is a great Christian Drama there are some like myself who would agree that it’s charming, relatable, and influential. For these reasons, viewers will remember it as an inspirational Christian drama because the film leaves a positive outlook on how having a little faith goes along
I would recommend this book to a friend because the reader is able to comprehend different aspects of the war. This novel is written in an upfront style, which makes it easy for the reader to follow along. I am thinking about including something about how war gives soldiers mental disorders for my thesis argument. I would like to write about the mental health of our troops for my research paper. I intend to focus on psychological disorders and mental illness.
In the book Soldier's Heart By Gary Paulsen the main theme is how war changes a person.
When Martha Ballard died, she was definitely missed and even though her diary sat in the back stacks of a library for a very long time because authors thought it was useless, her story was told and it was a good one at that. It wouldn?t be a surprise to me if her story has inspired women and I know it has definitely educated people about women?s lives at this time. It?s just a shame that more women?s stories from this time will never be told. I?ve learned from Martha Ballard?s story that she must have been a very good, decent, and smart woman and I would have loved to have met her. She is a good example of what some women were like back then and it?s good to see that not all of them were powerless housewives as some people think and how I, myself, thought before I saw this movie. I saw her struggle and her get through the hard times. The things she had to live through throughout her life were astonishing and I?m really glad I got to see this woman?s work. I realized how easy we have it now and how women like Martha paved the way for us and we have to appreciate them for what they?ve done.
And while describing the fiery wrath of the “Angry God,” Edwards states, “The use of this awful subject may be for awakening unconverted persons in this congregation.” By focusing on this group of people, Edwards instills a sense of fear within the audience of “sinners.” 3) Edwards purpose in delivering this sermon was to inform “sinners” of the inevitable doom that He thus creates a sense of helplessness in his audience, and encourages them to submit to God and renew their faith in Christianity. His use of parallelism allows Edwards to exponentially build a sense of fear, and it is maintained throughout this sermon.
...son dies, it really does not mean anything to the doctors, except a free bed. This scene plus the others which take place in the hospital show change in the way that men pull together when someone is in need. The hospital scenes also show that men are so accustomed to death, they know when someone is going to die, and can tell the degree of an injury when it happens.
achieving his goal of placing doubt into the minds of the religious. Making this a poorly-argued film due
There are many more examples throughout this movie that can be connected or assessed to the many different concepts that was learned. There are many real-life events and these concepts are important because they allow people to see how different types of people and families deal with stress and problems and it is important not to judge or jump to conclusions and maybe take a step back and take time to consider what others may be going
This movie was inspiring and encouraging to anyone who is struggling with something. Overcoming his controversies in life became the main point of the movie. Knowing that this movie was based upon a true story inspires the people even more.
...oung American men had to endure from the time that they had joined back in their boot camp days, and the brutality of war that showed them no mercy. To me the importance of the movie was to show what truly went on over in Vietnam through the eyes of a soldiers eyes of what happened, as the film created a very disturbing yet a real picture of The Vietnam War.
...ome aspect of war, from battling with enemies to how battle spiritually destroys young men. The one positive point of this novel is how friends cared for one another when going through tragedies and stressful experiences. It also portrays how strong a soldier needs to be, in order for them to be in the war.
In everyday society, we are faced with diverse issues that force us to make a decision. Whether or not our decisions are right or wrong. In the movie “Dead Man Walking”, directed by Tim Robbins, he exemplifies the following actions throughout the film. Faith and doubt is a recurring theme in the course of the film. Where we see Christians, in essence, questioning their faith. We also notice a contradiction between the Christian bible and the Hebrew bible or as most people have come to know it as the Old and the New Testament. Conflicting themes have been argued about the Old and New Testament throughout the centuries. Also, humility is a key aspect to the film. The director discreetly implies it at the end of the film so we can make a connection with the main characters. In Tim Robbins “Dead Man Walking” he entails religious ideals to allow the viewer to recognize both sides of evil.
After discussing this movie in class it all makes sense. All the details that I missed throughout the movie I saw when we started discussing it. I saw most of the religious themes, some like the pale horse evaded me. This was a great movie and one that I would recommend to anyone. The way that it is written and the way that is was played out is amazing. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface with the meanings behind this movie.
...ds to film, the religious stories surrounding the scenario are more than likely far less exciting and more straightforward than what is portrayed. The depiction of Christianity in a melodramatic fashion aims to keep people interested but it is not taken into consideration that the events that had taken place in Christian texts such as the bible could be equally interesting and exciting if they are depicted accurately within the story being narrated. Movies are over eager when they get a religious topic to work with and place it unnecessarily over the top, so that the religious undertones and lessons are almost lost and to get them, one must pay extremely close attention.
Lions for Lambs, was a different kind of war drama, showing several perspectives by various individuals of the conflict in Afghanistan. Instead of the in-your-face action and special affects most war dramas are recognized for, this movie focused more on the ethical quandaries, political beliefs and emotions experienced by the individuals involved.
Overall the war has a negative impact on soldiers, mentally, socially, and physically. Owen successfully portrays the struggles the soldiers were put through. Owens intentions were to bring the tragedies of war to light. Owens range of literary devices has highlighted the horrors of war and has taught the reader to acknowledge the sacrifices of the soldiers. In my opinion, Owens attempts to create sympathy for the soldier was successful.
