Intramural Sports
Intramurals are an organization of sports teams created for students who seek the opportunity to play sports. Those who participate in intramurals range in age, ability, and gender. These sports teams allow students to play a sport they enjoy without committing to a varsity team. Intramurals are designed for everyone to have fun but still have a competitive edge. It is easy to get involved and learn about intramurals at the University of Dayton.
There are many possible ways as a student at Dayton to get involved in intramurals. Involvement in intramurals gives the chance to not only play sports that are enjoyable, but also the opportunity to meet new people and develop a relationship with them. One way that many people get involved is through people they have met or already know. Coed sports have been argued for many years. There have been many examples in today's sports that support the idea of coed sports. Some have already even taken actions to do so. An example of these actions is, the girl who pitched in a Little League World Series game. Sports should be coed because they promote gender equality, build friendships, and increase self-confidence and pride. When boys and girls play together in sports it makes the competition more exciting to watch.
On the contrary interscholastic sports can be character to the sporting events in town. Students act dumb and they end up doing something to earn respect back to play. However building character is something all the sports for school the students shouldn’t act immature and actually be mature so the school can build its character on the sport, so people come and watch them play. On the other hand the students need to keep the grades up to participate to play in the school
Marion Military Institute is considered to have one of the best preparatory programs for preparing cadets entering a service academy. Without a doubt, MMI exposes its cadets to a rigorous academic routine similar to that of a service academy. However, SAP cadets need preparation in a sport, since they are required to play one at a service academy. Many cadets are deprived of sports, merely because it isn’t offered and there is no group or club organized to play it. With the implementation of my organized plan, club sports will be an option for cadets, and the SAP program will be more productive and successful.
Varsity sports play one of the largest roles in the modern school system. They can one of the most influential parts of a youngling’s experience. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. The concept of college athletics has been around for more than approximately 150 years (Siegel). From the very beginning, college athletics were destined to become a full-fledged, vital part in higher education. Their importance and significance from the start until now is undeniable. College athletics play a valuable role and are beneficial to institutions in ways such as promoting positive character development among athletes, establishing unity from a surplus of people, and supporting college experiences and traditions. These are just a few of their contributions to higher education. Although there are various controversies surrounding these points, they are just some of the reasons that athletics will remain embedded in university life for decades to come.

From its controversial student-run beginnings to its carefully controlled and monitored big-business attraction, college sports have evolved into an increasingly popular and demanding phenomenon in the United States. Along with the publicity and reputation that is created for the institution, many have found that intercollegiate sports serve several functions for the participants and community as well. While these functions also help balance and maintain the social order of the institution, unequal opportunities and distribution of power is found among the participants and non-participants, and the athletes themselves. Furthermore, with the new popularity and demand for victorious, competitive teams, colleges have lost their goal between balancing academics and athletics and using sports as an aid to help improve the athletes’ educational experience and opportunity.
