Looking for biblical reflections in movies is something we often don’t do, but you would be surprised in how many Christian connections there are in different movies. If you look for biblical facts in movies you will see a few, if not a lot of connections. When looking for these connections don’t look too hard, or you will see something that’s no really there. When you get into mindset of looking for those Christian connections it is kind of fun. The movie The Chronicles of Riddick written and directed by David Twohy has many biblical connections, although the director has no beliefs that we know of he has not forgotten his roots.
The Chronicles of Riddick is the sequel to Pitch Black, which tells the Story of Richard Riddick (Vin Diesel). The movie starts Riddick is being hunted by bounty hunters, but he kills all, but the leader Tombs, and he tells Riddick what planet the bounty came from, Riddick takes the bounty hunter’s ship, and goes to the planet Helion Prime. He gets to Helion Prime, which is about to be invaded by Necromongers; he finds Imam the guy who knows, who put the bounty out for him, in the process Imam mentions Kyra who went looking for him. Imam then tells the tale of a Furian who is destined to kill the Lord Marshall. Necromongers invade Helion Prime and in one night defeat their army. Riddick gets questioned by the Necromongers, and then finds out that he is the Furian destined to kill Lord Marshall (Necromonger Leader). After this the Necromongers are ordered to kill Riddick. Writer and Director David Twohy hasn’t forgotten his connection with faith whatever it might be. Twohy uses a lot of visuals that have to do with faith, we don’t know what his faith is or was. Faith in movies may be there, but not noticeable. Maybe as Christian movie watchers we should be more ready to see more connections of faith in movies.

“Parker’s Back” by Flannery O’Conner, has many biblical allusions. The story of “Parker’s Back” describes a man’s unsatisfied life. At the age of fourteen Park inspired by a tattooed man at the fair. “Parker has never before felt the least motion of wonder in himself” when he saw the man with “breast and flower” tattoo (O’Connor 572). The “breast and flower,” “a single intricate design of brilliant color” represents the Garden of Eden (572). Parker assumed tattoos will make him happy, however, he never satisfies with his tattoos. The story of Adam and Eve symbolize the Biblical allusion of dissatisfaction. Adam and Eve’s dissatisfaction lead them to commit sin, as a result “he drove the man out” of the Garden of Eden (Gen.3). Parker also discontents
In “The Crossing” McCarthy uses biblical allusions, symbolism, and tonal shifts in order to describe the experience of the protagonist.
The Bible, for many centuries, has impacted society, culture, and religion in innumerable ways. Included in the Bible’s impact, is fictional literature (Erickson, 2015). Biblical allusion, defined as an ancillary reference to Scripture ("Definition," 2015), can be a useful tool for fiction writers to draw the attention of the reader to certain biblical truths. Mixed in with the writer’s style and language, biblical allusion, assists in building plot lines, themes, and influence over the reader’s beliefs (Erickson, 2015). Nevertheless, the real magic of biblical allusion lies within the author’s creative genius and ability to infuse biblical themes, metaphors, images, and characters in with the story to allow the audience to reach certain
While many may appreciate The Matrix for it’s over-the- top fight scenes, there is much to be gained from the film’s biblical references that gives us a deeper and richer understanding of the film.

Faith was a major part in the movie, and ran parallel to the storyline for almost the entire duration. In many scenes faith was challenged. For example, when Ray and Annie are contemplating building the baseball field, when they have no funds and could lose their farm Ray’s faith was tested. Also when he was argues with his wife about whether to visit Terence Mann or not.
In conclusion, I found a quote from Michael Medved that I thoroughly agreed with, he says, “This same habitual blindness to spiritual, substantive dimensions of every significant challenge continues to handicap Hollywood”. I believe what he wants to get across here is that the Hollywood industry always misses the mark when it comes to spirituality and this is his whole meaning throughout the book. Whether I agree with his wording or not, I am a Christian, and I should be concerned with the way the media is influencing the mind of the world around me. I am called to be the light in this world, and I do believe that is the one area Medved and I agree; in some way, we both believe that the world is under attack and it is our job to show the light to this darkened world.
Throughout history people had always enjoyed and appreciated works of Literature in which they can relate to their everyday life. The Genesis book from the Bible is an example of Literature in which people know its stories and appreciated them. Even people who do not have faith on the Bible know the stories from the Genesis. The reason behind that is because the book is famously known as a collection of stories that tell us about the beginning of everything and how early civilizations interacted with God. The people that read the book of Genesis because of their religion beliefs, they would see it as an obligation to read rather than appreciate it and understand it as a work of literature. However, Darwin’s science strongly contradicts most

The film does a great job showing how powerful myths can be. It shows how even though people can believe that myths are outdated they are still used, and still influence different parts of our culture today. This series poses many though provoking examples of how myths influences everything from religion to seemly unrelated films such as Star Wars. This series is a must see for anyone who enjoys mythology, or anyone who is questioning their place in the heavens among the

The Chronicles of Riddick is a science fiction franchise, spanning from movies, videos games, animation, and motion comics. The series chronicles the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick (Vin Diesel) life in the 28th century. The Saga created “Pitch Black” was release, and gained popularity in 2004. "Pitch Black" was an entertaining, sci-fi/horror mash up that boasted it’s R-rating as well as the newest addition “Riddick”. However, second installment “The Chronicles of Riddick” holds a place in PG-13 rating, which honestly it is meant to be there but also bit disappointing that it is. After a decade, two video games, an animated film, and motion comic, Riddick returned to the theater for the third time. Through-out the saga, including games, movies and animated film and motion comic, he is imprisoned and escapes 6 different prisons and murders who knows how many people. He is additionally wanted or 5 different planets and 3 entire solar systems. I will only be reviewing the contents of the movies below because the other aspects change some of the plot line and I honestly prefer the movies sequence better.
After discussing this movie in class it all makes sense. All the details that I missed throughout the movie I saw when we started discussing it. I saw most of the religious themes, some like the pale horse evaded me. This was a great movie and one that I would recommend to anyone. The way that it is written and the way that is was played out is amazing. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface with the meanings behind this movie.
