This Mockumentary “Religulous” made by Bill Maher should be thrown into a woodstove and set on fire. It is complete rubbish, designed to strengthen his ethos as a comedian and make him the man. He made this film with his agnostic point of view, and designed it to reflect the anti-religious character he is. In the interviews you can tell most of them were appointments that he didn’t even have the decency to tell people, who took time out of their busy schedules, what his interview as pertaining to then during interviews treats them like they are beneath him because he is the man. Bill Maher may be uncertain where he is going when he dies because he decided to be unaccepting to any religion, that doesn’t give him the right to question others beliefs in this manipulative, and demeaning way. This film was designed to promote his anti-religiousness and is certainly not convincing enough to cause Christians to throw out their Bibles or Islam’s to burn the Qur’an or destruction of any religion for that matter. Bill Maher fails to persuade religious followers to doubt their religions, he has made a poorly argued film due to his lack of decorum and his pathetic use of informal fallacy. To begin this discussion, Bill Maher is a very manipulative agnostic individual who is determined by any means necessary to convince God-fearing people to have doubt in their religion. He wasn’t always a devoted agnostic he was raised by religious parents, in a dual religion household where the religion was divided one Jewish parent and one Catholic parent as were shown in the interview with his mother and sister. This family scene was placed in the film to gain pathos by manipulating the audiences feelings. Personally, it w... ... middle of paper ... ...ot aware of why Bill wants to join them that’s pretty obvious when he starts asking questions and one guy stands up and exits after stating he didn’t want any part of the interview if it was about refuting the word of his God. It takes more than a manly attitude to take on the world of religion, but a person of strong rhetorical skills could have easily applied Bill Maher’s arguments, correctly and had great success. Bill Maher however has such poor rhetorical skills that he was unable to succeed in achieving his goal of placing doubt into the minds of the religious. Making this a poorly-argued film due to his lack of decorum, makes me wonder if his mockery makes him feel manly now. Works cited Religuous .Dir. Larry Charles. Perf. Bill Maher.2008. DVD.
As can be seen, it takes more than a macho attitude to refute the word of God and to successfully take on the world of religion. Bill Maher’s lack of decorum and rhetorical skills are some of the key reasons why he fails to succeed in his master plan to plant seeds of deception in the minds of religious followers and destroy religion.

Without the texts like “Civil Disobedience” people like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi would never have been inspired. Chris, as a modern transcendentalist in his own eyes, should have shared his experience with the world. One might argue that he did, as one can watch the movie or read the book on his adventure, but that is simply incorrect. Chris died and his story inspires many people today to leave the world behind and go to Alaska and die, though the latter is usually not intended. Thoreau and Emerson would be rolling in their graves if they knew that Chris ultimately failed as a transcendentalist, yet he is praised as one too. From Walden to “Self Reliance” by Emerson, they all share a few things in common, mainly that their authors lived to publish their exploits. Towards the end of the movie it is shown that Chris was mostly incoherent by his last few days. Anything that he had even attempted to write down at that point could be false due to his altered state of mind from starvation, dehydration, general loss of sanity from being alone for so long, and the poison berries that eventually took his life. No one could really doubt it had Chris simply just survived. The fact that his tale was even told is surprising, but it would have been more inspiring has he actually survived. People wouldn’t follow in his footsteps
To begin with, in this film Maher’s ethical appeal is deeply impacted through inflating his ethos. His opinions of religion take over almost all of the film and it is distracting. Each time he interviews someone and he is about to make a really good point the interview ends cutting straight to Maher’s commentary. For instance, Maher’s interview with Jesus the actor at the “Holy land,” the actor’s scene was edited just as “Jesus,” starts answering questions, and replaced with Maher gazing into the camera in a skeptical way attempting to be funny. Constantly seeing interviews like this one cut off in a film is annoying even when substituted with humor. It is almost like watching the Wile E Coyote chase the Road Runner then, just as the Coyote is about to catch him, the anvil f...

The employment interview has been the key element used for determining a candidates’ worthiness in filling an open position. Organizations rely on employment interviews as a way to predict the future job performance and work-related personality traits of interviewees. Over the years validity of the employment interview has been under scrutiny, so it is no wonder that is has been the topic of many research papers. The definition of the employment interview is “a personally interactive process of one or more people asking questions orally to another person and evaluating the answers for the purpose of determining the qualifications of that person in order to make employment decisions” (Levashina, Hartwell, Morgeson, and Campion 2013, p. 243).
Again I was raised neutrally with religion. As a family we didn't attend church. My grandparents are all Jehovah's Witness's, although both my father and mother ended up being disfellowshipped from the congregation. Since not having any religious influence being taught to me, I was open to explore different religions for myself. I learned about several different religions. I know now that I am a Spiritualist, rather than Christian.

In Sigmund Freud’s, The Future of an Illusion, he studies religious foundations and the influence of religion on civilization and social principles. As he explores the psychological depths relating to religion, he also portrays a scientific and rational civilization. In turn, he reveals his hope for an ideal world where humans surpass their feelings of helplessness and insignificance to live in an improved civilization based on reason and the increase of knowledge. Through his analysis and ideas, Freud is able to incite feelings of doubt surrounding religious beliefs and their validity.
