Mrs. Brock, Mrs. Brock you are and always will be my favorite teacher and coach. When I first started basketball believe it or not I was terribly nervous to have to try out. The first day of tryouts was over and I realized how much fun this journey would be. Your passion and dedication shines and everyone on the team looks up to you. Let me start out by saying I’m going to miss you so so so so so much. You helped me in basketball so much by pushing me to be my best. Although there are sometimes where I didn’t believe in myself you did. Also, thank you for keeping me motivated when I wanted to give up. I will never forget how you can always make anyone smile anytime. I have many memories that I will never ever forget about basketball
seasons. You have made a very big impact in my middle school years and taught me things I will always remember. Thank you for being you, you have shaped me into the person I am today. I will always remember our endless inside jokes, laughing at dumb stuff, and all of our memories. I don’t think you know quite how much I’m going to miss you and I don’t know what i’m going to do next year not being able to see you everyday and talk to you in the library. The whole reason I wrote this is for you to know that you have truly impacted my life and I will always remember you as the best teacher and coach ever! Love, Carter Newton PS- I love you even though you beat me in knockout...
It’s one of the greatest debates right now in modern time sports. Who is the greatest basketball player ever? Is it His Airness, or is it King James? The debate on whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player ever is a prevalent topic in sports news daily. Many people believe that LeBron James is the greatest basketball player to be currently playing and also the greatest player to ever have played in the NBA. My theory, however, is that rather than LeBron James, the greatest basketball player to ever have played the game is Michael Jordan. Although I agree with the claim that LeBron James is the best current player in the NBA, I believe that he is nowhere near being considered better than Michael Jordan.
Ping. Pong. Ping. Pong. I hear the sound of the basketball, bouncing on the black asphalt at my cousins house.
“CLANG!!!” The rim rattles as the ferocious athlete jams the ball in. Basketball is game that has been around for 125 years! So many legendary players have come and gone most still around some not. It has evolved over the years in play styles, game styles, and hairstyles. But there’s always that question, who is the greatest? And even though I will never be able to answer that I can narrow it down to the top 5 of each position which will give you the greatest players in each position. Keep in mind these are of course just my personal opinions.
Michael Jordan was around 14 years old when he went to The Bronx, he used to be from Queens. He was nervous about starting a new school and meeting new people but the first thing he wanted to see was the basketball team and see if he can earn a place there. He knew what he was good at but he wasn’t sure how good these kids from the Bronx where, he heard they were tough and very good but he always stayed optimistic and confident. He knew that high school was was suppose to be harder for his education, but in all honestly, he was more interested in the basketball team. Jordan was more interested in making the team for many reasons, he always thought that if he made the basketball team he would be able to make it farther in life.
Most players that enter the NBA draft early are 19 or 20 years-old. They are going to end up playing against 25-year-olds that are stronger, faster, and that have had more experience than they have. Along with more experience, they will not be as physically fit because one or two years of college will not do it, and high school will not do it. For example, Lebron James. He is considered one of the best to have played the game, and he went straight out of high school. Imagine if he had gone to college, he would be so much better. So if they leave after the freshman or sophomore year, they will be about five or six years behind and that will make it harder to get a spot on the bench. If they do not make it to the bench, then they will be in the D league for 2 or 3 years to help develop their skills. “The D-League uses a tiered compensation system that's based on experience. Players with ample NBA
As an athlete I will continue to show my coaches the up most respect. Just this year, I have learned that being a coach is a tough job and that a lot of hours are put in to it. I never realized it until I came to the gym late at night and my coach was still here getting things prepared for our next game. As I observe, I will hopefully learn some different strategies I can use one day when I’m a coach one day. It will help me in the long run because when I become a coach, I plan to be the best coach I can be with many winning
Michael Jordan once said “I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win”. It is with complete honesty that I tell you that as I am making this speech, my stomach is turning, not with nervousness but with the anticipation of the possibilities before us. We have been given the opportunity to start something truly special, combining the innovation and service that have historically made 2 companies great, and combining them to become the industry model for customer service and success.

Introduction “Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise” - Michael Jordan. This is one of my favorite quotes from the “greatest basketball player of all time”. I actually started playing basketball, for two seasons so far. This book is not only about the chronicle of basketball, but will also cover the basics in the game, while it will cease with discovering Michael Jordan and the Portland Trail Blazers. In modern time, basketball is getting more popular and competitive.
It is official; Kobe Bryant, age 37, will retire at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 season. Bryant will be capping off a legendary 20 year tenure with the National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers. Many people within the sports world knew he was soon to retire due to father time and a combination with a series of injuries. Kobe put the speculation to end on Nov. 29, when he posted a poem on the popular sports website, The Players Tribune titled “Dear Basketball”.
Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
Can you imagine playing the game of basketball without a three point line? Basketball has constantly changed throughout history and continues to change today. The National Basketball Association has risen in popularity and is now one of America’s more popular sports. Because basketball continues to be a popular sport, a fan should learn about the origin of the NBA, how the game evolved from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and how the players today impact the way it is played.
