Musculoskeletal Disorders, MSDs are the injuries and disorders of soft tissues from muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, cartilage and nervous system. (US Department of Labor, 2000). Musculoskeletal Disorders also affect all the tissue included nerves and tendon sheaths and also the arms and back. Risk factors may lead to Musculoskeletal Disorders. (Smith & Verhagen, 2004). The reason of each risk factors lead to Musculoskeletal Disorders. Repetition The time of repeating the similar tasks is long, the same tissues will being loaded and the opportunity for tissue recovery will not possible. The body does not have sufficient time to recover and eventually fatigue will occur and lasty will lead to Musculoskeletal Disorders. Force Exertion Weight of an object is an indicator of force when lifting the object.The higher the weight, the greater the exertion required. Awkward Posture When joints are exposed from neutral range of postures, the muscles around the joint will be stretched or compressed. When muscle in neutral range of postures, muscle producing the greatest amount of force, but once muscle is not in neutral posture the force produce will …show more content…

Contact stress will results in inflammation of tendon and surrounding tissues, reduce blood flow and also caused early muscle fatigue. Long period of compression will cause tissue to damage and the nerves that exposed to contact stress will lead to injury. Once additional force adds, friction will created between soft tissue and hard object and irritation, which can further inhibit blood flow and nerve conduction. When working on the too high or too low surfaces with sharp edges will cause contact stress. Workers working at incorrect height or angle for long period, arms and shoulders will fatigued. Besides that, poor tool design can also result in contact stress.
