I feel integrity is an important value that managers need to have to become successful leaders. Integrity is the key for leaders to lead, to give their employees the ability to perform their jobs. We, as managers, need to always do the right things, even if we do not gain anything and we need to be honest. Managers with integrity could help their team to succeed at work by creating an honest, truthful, and respectful work environment. I have learned that having mutual trust and respect with my employees they will be more productive. I have learned to appreciate my upbringing about integrity and respect through my parents. When I first started my new job a little over a year ago, it was hard to come in to take over someone’s position. When my team had been there for years, they don’t accustom to change very well. I have been working hard to get them to change their minds to change. I explain to them that changes are a good thing. I think sometimes, we come into a new position and expect the employees to welcome you in right away. That never happens, I am trying to gain their mutual respect and trust every day that I work with them. I do not manage them closely, but I also need to make sure they do their job what is needed for the business. Organizational culture change is possible but it requires understanding, commitment, time, and tools. I have shown that I am committed to helping them make their job easier and to prove to them that I am not going anywhere. However, I do let them know that I want the same respect in allowing changes to occur. Not all changes are bad.
