Part one of the FMJH has helped me implement new healthy habits, such as increasing the amount of stretching/yoga I do per day and has made me more aware of my walking. I am currently on a special diet that my doctor put me on after finding out I am hypothyroid and have PCOS so the food diary has kept me accountable for my eating behaviors. This assignment has also forced me to be sure I am getting the right amount of sleep. For the fitness log I did not put all the time I did yoga and stretched, just times I thought were significant or remembered to. I am trying to relax more before bed each night, because I have bad insomnia. I also would like to be as flexible as I was when I was in cheerleading. However, I focused more so on increasing the amount of steps I was getting per week. I am taking all online classes this semester and working from home so sometimes I forget how little steps I am now getting. Since my family has an issue with obesity I try to eat whole foods as much as possible. My family growing up had a tendency to eat out a lot, but now that I am older I try to avoid processed foods. Anytime I have the chance to walk further by either parking further away at stores, taking the stairs, or now playing Pokemon Go, I take the opportunity. This is also on top of regular exercise. I take mental health very seriously along with alcoholism; depression also runs in my family. I always try to find time to relax and work on setting goals and having alone time for my thoughts. I feel like many people become depressed from prolonged stress. I try to take time every day to unwind by myself and also talk about any problems I am feeling with my husband.
