Part one of the FMJH has helped me implement new healthy habits, such as increasing the amount of stretching/yoga I do per day and has made me more aware of my walking. I am currently on a special diet that my doctor put me on after finding out I am hypothyroid and have PCOS so the food diary has kept me accountable for my eating behaviors. This assignment has also forced me to be sure I am getting the right amount of sleep. For the fitness log I did not put all the time I did yoga and stretched, just times I thought were significant or remembered to. I am trying to relax more before bed each night, because I have bad insomnia. I also would like to be as flexible as I was when I was in cheerleading. However, I focused more so on increasing the amount of steps I was getting per week. I am taking all online classes this semester and working from home so sometimes I forget how little steps I am now getting. Thanks in part to this assignment and also because of Pokemon Go I have really paid …show more content…
Since my family has an issue with obesity I try to eat whole foods as much as possible. My family growing up had a tendency to eat out a lot, but now that I am older I try to avoid processed foods. Anytime I have the chance to walk further by either parking further away at stores, taking the stairs, or now playing Pokemon Go, I take the opportunity. This is also on top of regular exercise. I take mental health very seriously along with alcoholism; depression also runs in my family. I always try to find time to relax and work on setting goals and having alone time for my thoughts. I feel like many people become depressed from prolonged stress. I try to take time every day to unwind by myself and also talk about any problems I am feeling with my husband. My husband and I both like to communicate as much as possible about both our
A healthy diet plan is comprised of all the nutrients which are beneficial to your body. This is the beauty of a healthy diet plan that it provides all the necessary elements to your body and at the same time it also helps you to get rid of unwanted weight. No need to mention that these healthy foods are tasty also and certainly, you will relish them. If you are following a weight loss plan which is directing you to eat only a few food items and taking diet shakes at a certain time only. This is not only making your diet plan boring, it may also deprive you from certain useful elements.
You can medically be in the best shape possible, but if you are under a lot of stress, your mental health is compromised, which can lead to isolation from others, and now your social health is being neglected. It’s just one big cycle. Focusing on all components of good health such as eating a balanced diet for your physical, finding stress relievers for your mental and spending time with friends and family for social, is taking positive preventive measures to stay healthy. It is not only our responsibility, but a community effort to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to achieve and maintain overall good health.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.
There are plenty of people that do not pay close attention to the nutrition labels on food or do not understand what’s in the food that we eat. If we are expecting the parents, adults, or some of the children to be healthy and are not able to read the nutrition label, how can we expect them to have healthy lifestyles? In order for this new generation be healthy and active. We need to provide them with the support and resources they need. In order, to have a healthy routine. We should be able to offer the support that needs to be able to receive a better outcome for our future generations and as well as the current one.
I planned my workout every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings. At first, when I started working out I ran on treadmill as my warm up. My first week goal was to run 5 minutes in treadmill and I achieved my goal. I feel like it was easy. The second week goal was to run 7 minutes. When I started my second week, I wasn’t comfortable running 7 minutes, and end of the week I have no problem running 7minutes. Third week goal was to run 10 minutes in treadmill it was really hard to keep up for 10 minutes run, but eventually I achieved my goal. Forth week-goal was 15 minutes I couldn’t do it. I tried my best to achieve my goal. I realize that I have to keep my goal little bit low like 11 minutes run and add one minute for each week, then
Mindfulness unlocks your senses. It is the practice of being fully aware of what is happening within and around you in the moment. This is not easy to do! Practicing mindfulness helps people make better choices in regards to what and how they eat. There is a lot to learn here, but taking simple steps like noticing the smells, temperatures, textures and tastes of the foods in your meal is a good place to start. Mindful eating also requires you to reduce distractions such as physical, mental, social and emotional ones. People often find that they enjoy their food much more once beginning more mindful approaches to eating. Mindful eating also seems to improve food choices, in both what and how people eat. It essentially reshapes your relationship with food and makes eating more enjoyable because you learn your reactions to food preferences, habits and tastes.
With all the homework, tests to study for and readings to complete for my seven college classes, it wasn’t easy to find the time to work out twice every week. However, I pulled through and always managed to train at least 2 hours every week, which was something that really helped me achieve my goals. The most difficult barrier for me was the fact that my results didn’t truly reflect the effort I was putting in my weekly trainings. For examples, during the fifth week of my action plan exercise at school, I put in a lot of effort in my run and got to a heart rate of 120 BPM for the first time (at school). However, I was so tired afterwards that I was only able to complete 37 push-ups.
You’ve probably heard the old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” plenty of time. We’re constantly reminded of the importance of healthy nutrition and healthy eating guides are everywhere. But have you ever stopped to think why eating healthy foods can result to fewer doctor visits? Can you actually prevent disease by focusing more on the foods you eat? Here are a few examples of how you can prevent disease by being more mindful of the foods you eat.
There has been a direct link between happiness and health for as long as people can remember. In modern day society, it’s almost impossible to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. People everywhere are switching to cheaper and unhealthier food. More jobs are switched to sitting in office chairs all day. Healthy eating and active living requires time that many of us don 't have or can 't seem to find. Getting a full night of sleep is also rare for many people and studies have shown that more people are considered sleep-deprived everyday. A few simple changes to your lifestyle can be the difference between happiness and misery. Making time for yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Give your body the care it needs

While completing this assignment I learned that my eating habits need improvement as I am not meeting the daily recommended daily servings for the 5 food groups. In addition, I am eating foods that I want and crave instead of foods that are healthy, nutritious, and hold nutritional value. For example, over the span of 2 days I realized that I have consumed quite a bit of fried food and not enough vegetables and fruits.
Unhealthy Behavior is not in a state of good or normal health, in an unsound, weak, or unhealthy condition. Being a healthy person does not mean only being healthy in diet and being physically healthy. Mentally healthy is also part of being a healthy person. A healthy lifestyle is usually picked up as we get older. Teaching your kids how important a healthy diet is, will help them maintain that lifestyle in their older years. Not to mention have lower health risks, higher self-esteem and it will give them the energy they need to keep up with their eating habits and maintain their body weight.
Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
