Becoming an Animator
There are plenty of television shows, movies, and even general media contain animations. From 2D hand drawn animations to 3D models or special effects, animation is used in many ways and makes visuals a much better experience. Animators are people who create visual art/animation digitally for entertainment or media (bls.gov). Making animations is a long process and takes patience to sit and think of clever designs and create innovative ideas. The salary range for an animator is $65,300, and the median annual wage for multimedia artist and animators was $65,300 in May, 2016 (bls.gov). Animators also require a bachelor's degree, and employers look for workers who have a good portfolio of work and strong technical skills.

Consumers will continue to demand more realistic video games, movies, television special effects and three-dimensional movies. (bls.gov) In modern life media is connected to nearly anything with animation being apart of it. These talents are all across the world, but they are usually under appreciated. Not many would think animators play such an important role, but animation can be beneficial to Society and communities, as well as the one who pursues the career. Animation is used for many things. In a business perspective it can come in handy, while also giving satisfaction to viewers. But it is mostly used to provide entertainment. Most kids at a young age are introduced to television. Many shows for young children are …show more content…
The animator themselves can enjoy every part or animating. It's a fun, creates good innovative skills, and provides experience in many more possible things than just drawing or creating movement. For young children who want to experience the possibility, it can be a big improvement for their self skills. “It helps develop a child's motor skills, hand-eye coordination and also qualities of patience and perseverance.” (Prodigious kids from toon cub selected for the paris international Animation festival 2017) this quote states that developing these skills can be beneficial to the person who chooses to animate. “The intensity with which people make things by using their hands can be very exciting, and the level of enthusiasm this endangers helps make the thing more than what i t would be if you were just putting something together in a banal way.” (Robertson, Barbara) This quote expresses how much animating and creating can be fun and makes the process of it worth it. “Animators are continuously striving for creative excellence as they explore various story narratives, ideas, and observe the world around them.” (Larson, Kris) This quote explains the hard work and how they are persistent at creating what they want by taking things from the world and applying them to their
The Stories Behind Lotte Reiniger’s The Adventures of Prince Achmed The word “animation” defines as the technique of photographic successive drawings to create an illusion of movement, bringing a sense of life and vigor. Animation is usually associated with a sequence of drawings, bringing fluidity and character to a sketch. The same is said to miniature models, by the use of stop-motion; but what about cutouts?
Good character animation costs $110,000 - $150,000 per minute, multiply that by 20 and you realize the money involved.
The first animated movie produced by Pixar, a famous space ranger named Buzz Light-year said, “To infinity and beyond!” and that is exactly where Pixar has taken the animation industry. The success of Pixar is duly noted worldwide and they remain a leader in the animation industry. The company reeled in more than 100 awards and nominations for their work on animated films, commercials, and technical contributions to the animation industry. The trials and triumphs of this company have earned it its spot as one of the leading animation companies in the entertainment industry today. With all this success it is hard to think it was almost over before it ever began. Pixar’s history of trials and triumphs starts with a group of men and their ideas that would revolutionize the entertainment industry.
The first thing that must be addressed is the reality that animation is on par with film. It is quite literally art. The amount of effort, talent, and imagination that goes into the story is nothing short of amazing. Although animation is often reduced to just programing for kids, when put side by side, the only difference between Gone With The Wind and The Lion King is that one is animated. Both are images, but one is photographed and the other is drawn. To what I stated earlier, someone’s preference may differ from another person, but each would consider it an art.
Bates (2013:[sp]) identifies that animation is an excellent and ingenious way to encourage children to communicate stories, ideas and concepts in a creative and original way. As explained...
In society today, we are conditioned to believe certain sets of ideals. We use these ideals to interact and get along with the other people we surround ourselves with. These ideals are often the societal norms that form common ground amongst individuals. However, living life based off these basic and unchanging beliefs is not beneficial to humanity, nor does it make life any easier to live. In fact, holding on to the most accepted beliefs holds back society as a whole. Judith Halberstam, in her essay “Animating Revolt and Revolting Animation” challenges these societal norms through the analysis of animated movies and, in doing so, carves a path for a new way of thinking.
As time and people are continually changing, so is knowledge and information; and in the film industry there are inevitable technological advances necessary to keep the attraction of the public. It is through graphic effects, sounds and visual recordings that all individuals see how we have evolved to present day digital technology; and it is because of the efforts and ideas of the first and latest great innovators of the twentieth century that we have advanced in film and computers.
Just like most art forms it takes practice to become really good at animating. Computers have helped to make animation a quicker and simpler process then it once was. Now computers have been used in almost every animated film that has come out in the last ten years. Because of this animation quality has improve dramatically to the point that animated characters are serving as major characters in many of the top movies today. This includes characters such as Ja-Ja Banks in Starwars, The many dinosaurs of the Jurassic Park movies, and Gollum in the Lord of the Ring movies.
* Children can learn thru any kind of art many thinks, will help them in their social and emotional skill, that children feel relax and be more patience with something they like, children feel successful that they can do a lot, and at the same time children can express their feelings. Children interacting with their peers and adult too they build a good relationship.
In this chapter, it has shown a brief history of animation and how it started in the early days of animation. It also discussed about 2D in brief and 3D. Also the techniques applied in making of animation since early ages with the evolution of 2D to 3D animation.
Animation is a visual technique that creates the illusion of motion, rather than recording motion through live action. The technique is used mainly for motion pictures. Animation can be created by illustrators, filmmakers, video makers, and computer specialists. Animation is most popular in creating cartoon movies. Advertisers also employ animation to develop commercials for television. In addition, producers of instructional films may use animation to help explain a difficult idea or one that could not be shown in live action. Animation can also be combined with live action in a movie. Many animators continue to make many drawings by hand. Since the mid-1980's, however, computer assistance combined with hand-drawn animation has become standard in many movie studios. These methods created such feature-length animated films as The Lion King (1994) and The Prince of Egypt (1998).
Children also become mesmerized by the graphic images; they seem to adapt and enjoy technology and all it has to offer. One could argue that this enthusiasm would easily flow into more learning.

Computer technology invades the film industry. The existence of computers have aided in the production of genres of film ranging from action movie special effects, to cartoon animation and claymation. Computer Generated Imagery, better known as CGI, assists filmmakers in many ways. An image can be made two-dimensional from a three-dimensional scene, camera angles can be altered to make a character seem larger and thus more important than its surrounding bodies, and colors can be brightened or neutralized, among other things (Parsons, Oja 1). Without the aid of computers, movies would not have the ability to be what they are today.
The Role of Computer Generated Imagery in the Film Industry Computer Generated Imagery is the special effects used in motion pictures to create a visual depiction of an illusion that can not be easily created in real life. Directors of major motion pictures have been using these technologies since the early days of the personal computer. Early on, when and special effects were in their beginning stages, it was difficult to make efficient and effective effects that are well accepted by the movie critics and the general public. An evolution of special effects and the introduction of computerized animation brought the standards for movie effects to a higher level. The development of new methods of Computer Generated Imagery for less money and more effective than in the past has allowed even fairly low budget movies to incorporate such technology.
