Duty of Candour is the responsibility of all healthcare workers and professionals to be open, honest and transparent to the individuals we care for. This also includes their family, friends or neighbors. Duty of Candour is to own up to if mistakes are made and being honest about them, apologise and explain any potential effects the error may have. Then you must try to repair the damage immediately. Duty of care relates to Duty of Candour as they both place the care receiver at the core of the care process, ensuring that all healthcare professionals are looking out for individuals best interest and being honest throughout the whole care process.
