In 1980s, Glenn Ballard and Greg Howell did to create LPS to improve productivity in construction with predictability and reliability of its production. LPS also work in new product development and design. LPS is a short-term project planning system which are used 20years ago in construction engineering.
Lean production was developed by Toyota Led by Engineer “Ohno”. To get perfection in design criteria, lean construction took the Ohno’s production system. “The term “Lean” was coined by the research team working on international auto production to reflect both the waste reduction nature of the Toyota production system and to contrast it with craft and mass forms of production” (Womack et al. 1991).
Lean production can now be understood as

The benefits of LPS will be demonstrated by the improved performance of project planning process at each and every phase.
Compared to traditional construction project management, LPS approaches to smooth variations in construction work flows develop planning foresight and reduce uncertainty in construction operations.
With the aid of study that reports obstacles and issues associated with implementation of LPS on a construction project.
This thesis aims to produce the following outcomes:
i. The benefits of LPS will be demonstrated by the improved performance of project planning process at each and every phase. ii. The industry will be provided with a study that reports obstacles and issues associated with implementation of LPS on a construction project. iii. Recommendations and suggestions will be proposed to overcome such difficulties for the effective implementation of LPS.
The objective of the research is
How to implement the LPS in Singapore construction industry to complete the project within the stipulated time and

Compared to traditional construction project management, last planner system approaches to smooth variations in construction work flows, develop planning foresight and reduce uncertainty in construction operations. The Singapore’s Construction Industry can be expected to achieve the predictable work flow and rapid learning in programming, design, construction and commissioning of projects by implementing the last planner
Moving away from the functional silo structures to the pure project structure works well in some industries such as the construction industry. It entails a fixed ...

“Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind” a famous quote about our goal by Seneca. It is a metaphor about the achievement goal and objectives by good planning skills. One has to plan for what one wants to achieve and where one wants to go. One of the most important things is to have good planning, before taking any project the first think you should do is to create project plan. Planning can be defined as preparing a sequence of action to achieve specific goals and objectives. According to Kerzner (2009), “project planning is desirable that the project manager is involved from project conception through execution. It must be systematic, flexible to handle, closely disciplined through reviews and control and capable of accepting multi functional inputs (pg. 412)”. The importance of planning a project is to describe the work so that it will be easily identifiable to the project team member.
Kent Beck, the project leader will find using the WBS to make complex projects more manageable as it is designed to help break down projects into manageable chunks that can be effectively estimated and supervised. By creating a WBS include several benefits. For example it can help assist with accurate project company, helps with assigning responsibilities, shows the control points, project milestones, and allows for more accurate estimation of the triple constraint (cost, risk, and time) therefore helping to explain the project scope to stakeholders.

In general, there are different types of procurement type for various situations due to no one method can be suitable under the all different construction project. In this case, there are four procurement paths, which are traditional, design and build, management and design and manage, will be advised to use. However, each method has different aspects of advantages and disadvantages.
projects. The studies also deal with the issue of cost escalation and way it is currently being handled in building construction. Cost escalation has impact on the quality, project schedule and cause hindrance in project completion. Cost escalation is major provision in the cost estimation process which yield values for increase in the cost of equipment, material, labor, etc...Due to continuous price changes over the time. Most significant cost escalation factors are raw material input price, demand and supply, power tax, transportation cost, inflation, taxes, exchange rates and government policy. The acceleration in price of materials has a direct effect on the delay in project completion, quality and disputes.
Name: Qian Guo Course: MGT609WS-W1 Instructor's name: Dr. Alan C. Maltz Week 7 Summary In week 7, we have talked about the development of project budgets. Project implementation focuses on the project budget and authorizes the Pproject Mmanager to obtain resources required to begin work.
Although all of these project-scheduling techniques are very useful and present the entire data in a very presentable format for the project manager and other stakeholders, it is very critical that these be coupled with the other project management techniques to make it a successful
However, in some cases we need to develop strategies for them to improve their efficiency, improve their machinery, install backup generation, etc. In these scenarios, a team is developed with the consultant being the project manager or point man. Therefore, these projects require the four functions to be followed so we can develop the best possible solution. The first function used is “Planning”, which allows us to outline a strategy catering to the specific needs of our client. The “Planning” function also gives us a time table on how long the project will take to complete, who needs to be involved, and how we expect to accomplish each goal.
The benefits of planning ahead include: Allocation of resources - allocating time, financial planning, study leave and other resources necessary to attend the professional development. Attract support of others - verify that you obtain the backup of you family, co-workers and the management. Opportunity for reflection
(hazreeni, azam, 2010). In the process, by using the conventional method of construction the project is a first choice from many small contractors are reluctant to adopt IBS system. It may the small contrctor was using conventional method compared the new method. (Kamar, Alshnawi, and hamid, 1779). It may financial issues become the main obstacle for small contractors to move forward with the IBS system (Kamar, Alshnawi, and hamid, 1779). This because of the structure of IBS is highest cost.
Brooke (1997), explains Estimation as the technical procedure of anticipating the value of the project. Building construction estimation is the process of acquiring the construction value for the whole project before the project starts. Thus, construction attaining process depends hugely on financial management to sustain workability and smooth operations. The delay in construction is a global issue which is due to improper preparation of estimates and lack of drawings (Ajanlekoko, 1987). In accordance to Gkritza (2008), the source of delay in a project are identified to be in the initial stages, like bad quantification, errors in design and ground conditions. Thus, the purpose of a proper estimate is to foretell the cost needed to finish the
Project planning falls in the Planning Process Group which consists of those processes to establish the projects total scope, define the projects objectives, and courses of action to achieve those objectives. During the planning process, all the documents that are needed to carry the project through the project lifecycle will be developed such as the project management plan. Project management requires repeated feedback loops as additional information becomes available and is better understood. The planning process delineates the strategy, tactics, and path to successfully complete the project. With that, the planning of a project must walk through all the those processes from executing, monitoring and controlling through the closing process.
