Woody, after an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker, started his own small woodworking business, specializing in furniture manufacturing. Due to the high quality of the craftsmanship, CWC gained a reputation for their high quality and attractively designed furniture. Since that time, CWC has grown in to a successful mid-size organization, providing several lines of furniture to wholesalers and retail centers, as well as producing and supplying cabinets for residential construction contractors. Throughout the years, CWC has steadily prospered and has created a loyal staff and work force. John Carpenter, Woody’s son, has recently joined the CWC team after completing business degree. Under his strong guidance, CWC has moved into the commercial construction industry, supplying and installing countertops, cabinets, and other fixtures in commercial developments. CWC currently possesses a high reputation for supplying millwork to the construction industry. II. The Home Depot began changing consumer’s perspectives about how they could care for and improve their homes, by creating a “do-it-yourself’ concept. According to the founders, the customer has a bill of rights at the Home Depot. The bill of rights entitles the customer to the right assortment, quantities and price (of tools and home improvement supplies) along with trained associates on the sales floor. Home Depot describes their business strategy as a three legged stool, which stands for customer service, product knowledge and availability and disciplined capital allocation. (Moskowitz,

Projects involve the coordinated undertaking of interrelated activities (Project Management: Achieving Competitive Advantage). According to Tom Peters, “Projects, rather than repetitive tasks, are now the basis for most value-added in business”. Based on this, it is clear that projects are of utmost importance to businesses in both the service and the manufacturing industries.

My mentor name was David Joe Ursy. He works for Joe McGee Construction. He works for Joe McGee on the farm portion of his business. He works on tractors, combines, welding, and farming crops. He has been working for Joe McGee for 20-30 years. To me it's fun and interesting. I like to do it some people don’t like it. When we started working on my project, I cleaned all the metal with a wire brush. Once I got it all the metal cleaned of rust, I started making the top after I got the top like I wanted it, I welded it and put all the nuts and bolts inside the table. I checked to see how it looked and took them out. I cleaned the camshaft and welded it to the flexplate.

Over the course of this paper I will be discussing and analyzing the importance of project management.
All projects have at their core a specific goal or objective, a defined life span, a budget and schedule for its completion, defined quality requirements and require the effort of a people to execute (Field, Keller 1998). Knowledge of a projects core characteristics is essential in effectively managing the project through its lifecycle and ten knowledge areas of project integration management, project scope management, project time management, project cost management, project quality management, project human resource management, project communications management, project risk management, project procurement management and project stakeholder management (PMI 2013). Effective management through these knowledge areas act as a mitigating factor against the effects of the triple constraints on a project, which is critical in the application of project life cycle management.
