Why is Bilingual Education Better Then the Education of Today?
The Board of Education should change their process of education. Education, by definition, is the process of learning or acquiring knowledge, skills, ideas, beliefs, and habits. Since long ago, educators have existed as adults trained the young in the knowledge and skills deemed necessary in their society. Then time progressed, education has been made available to most with some having to fight in order to obtain an education. Eventually, the belief to the right of education have been adopted by most government officials, while in some countries, education is necessary. Learning another language is not always as impressive as people says. The first disadvantages in bilingual education is time. Not only is learning another language time consuming, the choice of replacing recess with learning another language may anger some parents or students. The second problem is the belief that the program would reduce the focus on a career. On the other hand, the problems of bilingual education is not as critical as it seems. Instead, by having a bilingual teacher who teaches language on the side, the students can still learn a few words at a time and gain an understanding, before they start learning another language in high school. In addition, the common belief on reducing career path is only a tall tale, since by learning another, more career opportunity would opened up not only in the US, but anywhere that the student’s words can reach. With the US being a melting pot, there are many times I have run into someone that speaks the same second language and exchange conversation. Not only had the conversation, refreshed my understanding on another culture but also widen the places that I can travel to. English is a simple and easy language to speak, allowing me to reach a level where I can fully understand both language. The benefits that comes from being bilingual are wide and differs greatly, allowing many who learned another language earn the benefits.
In conclusion, the standard education of today, is not challenging enough to accomplish when the program is designed, compared to the bilingual education. Bilingual education allows individuals to create opportunities for themselves to pursue a wide varieties of career choices. The program is worth every penny to ensure students become successful members of bilingual society. To ensure that a student in more successful in their path to success, bilingual education should be promoted
