Adeyemi(2017), organizational change and its effects on healthcare employees have come that employees refused to apply electronic medical records because of the lake of knowledge and unclear processes (Adeyemi, 2017). Babarinsa(2011) in transforming healthcare describes that leadership and employee entirely involvement and creating a spiritual environment, and practical wisdom is the two main components of success in healthcare transformation(O'Brein, 2010). On the other hand, leakage in communication, the lake of decisive leadership, selective perception, information overload are the critical roles in raising resistance in the organizations. A leader should share him/herself and demonstrate to care others and empower them; this person should be emotional intelligence and continual learner, self-diagnosis, and self-management. (Mintzberg, 2009) Modern leaders are creative and cooperative, and they enjoy developing their teams, so, they struggle to scan the horizon of healthcare and predict the future of the organization to make the right decisions. Gap in Literature The gap in the body of knowledge for overcoming resistance to change is the methods that a healthcare organization needs to apply to improve the culture of employees individually to accept the new technologies. The technique for digital healthcare transformation which is cover the lean Six Sigma not just for processes, even for employee engagement. And also, the approach of a leader to create a well-developed culture in the organization needs more investigation to present a well-establish solution.
Research Question
Across the globe, there are CEO’s, managers, and several other individual’s in leadership-type roles that have the expectation of making their company successful in the eyes of the investors, the employees, and the customers that they serve. This may be measured by a company’s gross profitability, employee engagement or overall customer satisfaction. Most companies have leadership models and strategies in place that leaders are expected to use in order to drive the expectations of the company while maintaining consistency across the business. In an effort to examine various types of leadership styles, I have conducted interviews with two individuals that are or have been previously tasked with leading their teams and their company towards success.
Like Klinger, Hitchcock agreed that in a managerial role is essential and performs a vital function, leadership must come first to make managing more effective. If management is efficiency in climbing the ladder, then it is leadership that determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. To help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate the permanent white-water environment safely, Hitchcock (2013) suggested that there are three constants that provide stability in times of great uncertainty such as a change, a choice, and principles. This work considers each of these three constants, focusing mainly on the principles that underpin transformational and effective leadership in healthcare settings. (Hitchcock, Klinger, 2012)
Leadership skills and styles are essential to any career profession and especially in the human services field as it relates to things flowing effectively both internally and externally. According some researchers it is said that leadership skills are determined from a person’s personality traits. Whereas, others may say that becoming a leader is a growing process that is affected by the events and/or issues that may surround them. However, while studying human service and community service organizations we were able to determine their leadership styles based off the information we know about a particular organization by using the Leadership Matrix.
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
Leadership style is a behavioral model that leaders use it to interact with followers. Leadership is a combination of providing direction, making decision, motivating sub-workers and achieving goals (Fertman & Liden 1999). Furthermore, Chemers (2007) asserted that leadership is the executive of organizational intelligence in which leadership effectiveness is linked to organizational performance. In addition, Obiwuru et al (2011) stated that the leadership styles are predictor to leadership effectiveness whereby leadership style in an organization is one of the factors that play significant role in enhancing or retarding the interest and commitment of the individuals in the organization. The role of leadership has become increasing valuable for organizations to be successful. According to Huber (2014), Leadership can best be defined as method utilized to ensure that an objective is completed. There are many different types of leaderships that can be found within each organization. In this paper I will highlight an example of a specific leadership style that we come across in healthcare settings. I will review my leadership self-assessment results and discuss the impact of leadership on staff and groups.
Why now? Why are we focusing on transformational leadership? Healthcare costs are continuing to rise.
