Rashid-Al-Abri (2007) claims that change in the healthcare industry has been a dramatic phenomenon that requires the personnel to accept changes or they will be surpassed by them. Therefore, there is the need to follow the steps of change: evaluation, planning, implementation, and management. The characters are different, but the individual control that these characters display plays a fundamental role in the acceptance and the administration of change. In the book written by Spencer Johnson, Who Moved my Cheese, his allegorical comparison of real life characters portrays four main personalities types, the book can be Consequently, the hospital management will not require the services of the personnel since it has integrated automated systems (Saver, 2006). Burrows, a male nurse, knew that he could best exercise his profession within the confines of client’s homes. In effect, he decided to venture into private nursing where he provided care to the sick. He, thus, can be compared to Scurry, who was a mouse character in the book, Who Moved my Cheese? Scurry was quick to spot new cheese and consume it, but his primary objective was to find a sustainable source that could last him and Sniff for a longer period of time (Who moved my cheese? Full Movie, Full Movie, n.d). In the modern healthcare system, the changes in the ethics and professionalism as provided by the nursing code of ethics is relevant. Therefore, some individuals within the system may take time to accept the transformations and some may be unaware that change exists. Eventually, they end up noticing the change later as well as what is required of them as stated in the code of ethics. In one example, the code of ethics within the nursing professionalism necessitates that the nurse has to be willing to overlook certain aspects (social, career, and familial relationships) to aid the patient in full recovery. There are numerous alterations in the nursing code, and what is taught in medical school; therefore, the previously educated nurses should be aware of the modifications. A nurse known as Sarah had worked within the healthcare system for more than fifty years. Within her tenure, she experienced numerous changes in the code of ethics and what is taught within the system (Saver, 2006). By the time she could adjust the trends in alterations, it was late; hence, difficult for her to keep up with

According to the author, nursing practice needs to stay current with technological advances while keeping its identity as a patient focused profession. Nurses use technology to improve care from a patient?s perspective, both in quality of care and cost. At the same time, nurses must learn to balance technological knowledge with personal skills, thus providing optimum clinical care while maintaining a person-focused relationship with the patient.
In my opinion, Lennie Small is the most interesting character in Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men. Steinbeck does a very good job describing and characterizing Lennie's personality. Lennie's character is, indeed, quite unique. A large man with enormous strength, yet kind and childlike, he seems to find joy in simple life pleasures like petting a furry animal and making the water ripple. Lennie's greatest difficulty seems to be remembering; and it is the lack of the ability to remember that ultimately leads to his tragedy at the end of the book. In the novel, Steinbeck seems to reinforce Lennie's characteristics of strength, kindness, childlike manner, and somewhat animal-like personality. In this paper, I will focus on these characteristics.
Ethical issues arise daily in the healthcare world. The manor in which issues are addressed vary. “There are, it might be said, as many histories of nursing ethics as there are individual ethicists and professional or cultural contexts” (Guildford 2010, p.1). “A code of ethics is a fundamental document for any profession. It provides a social contract with the society served, as well as ethical and legal guidance to all members of the profession” (Lachman 2009, p.55). According to Lachman, since the original ANA Code from 1950, the significance of service to others has been consistent. Two changes in the code have occurred since the original. First, not only the patient is being treated, but the family and community where they live are also considered.
Ethics is an integral part of the foundation of nursing (ANA, 2011). Provision three in the ANA code of Ethics states that each nurse must promote, advocate for, and strive to protect the health and safety of each patient cared for (ANA, 2011). Provision three includes the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality, and protection. It is the nurse’s responsibility to protect the patient’s rights, maintain high standards of care, and address impaired practice.
The Code of Ethics for Nurses was created to be a guide for nurses to perform their duties in a way that is abiding with the ethical responsibilities of the nursing profession and quality in nursing care. The Code of Ethics has excellent guidelines for how nurses should behave, however; these parameters are not specific. They do not identify what is right and wrong, leaving nurses having to ultimately make that decision. Ethics in nursing involves individual interpretation based on personal morals and values. Nursing professionals have the ethical accountability to be altruistic, meaning a nurse who cares for patients without self-interest. This results in a nurse functioning as a patient advocate, making decisions that are in the best interest of the patient and practicing sound nursing ethics.
As a nurse, we serve a society which is very culturally diverse. We provide care to many individuals whom have their own unique set of ethics, values, morals, and beliefs by which may be very different from our own. Because of our professional role, we must use lifelong learning as a tool to broaden our views, increase our knowledge, and understand the influences which affect it. To make this possible, we have to continually educate ourselves about the nursing laws, professional standards, and code of ethics all of which we are committed to.
The nursing code of ethics is a formal statement of the ideals and values of nursing and ethical principles that serve as standards for nurses‟ actions. Jurisprudence is the scientific study of law and law is defined as those rules made by humans, which regulate social conduct in a formally prescribed and legally binding manner. Nursing ethics and law are very important because they are concerned with the provision of services that have an impact on human health and life which can cause dilemma during practice and if not handled adequately can lead to negative impact on the client and all the people concerned with the care the client. Therefore Standards must be set to guide the conduct of the nurse in making proper and adequate decisions for the safety and protection of the client, by so doing the nurse protects herself or himself from litigation (Burke, K. 2000).
With that said, the nursing profession has a unique code of ethics, that though at times challenging, it is each nurses duty to uphold. Specific provisions can guide a preceptor in navigating and facilitating a conversation that can help a student nurse to understand the journey that lies ahead. More importantly, the student must understand how the profession defines their client, or in nursing, the patient. The ANA Code of Ethics defines the term patient by the derivative meaning, “the one who suffers” (ANA, 2001). This is fundamental for the student to understand because no amount of money or job security can retain a nurse when faced the trials, tribulations, perseverance, or jubilation that accompanies caring for “the one who suffers”.

The four ways of the central message of this story are George takes care of Lennie, Lennie’s memory affects his actions, Lennis disability misinterpreted by others, and Lennie’s disability affects his thinking.
Finally, and I feel most importantly, change effects everyone. Barker states in his presentation that just because change happens in a department that is not your own, don’t assume that it won’t affect you. Changes trickle throughout the organization and a change anywhere in the process is bound to affect everyone. This is a point that Christensen reinforces as key lesson from disruptive innovation. Disruption rarely alters one portion of the industry. Usually it is a sweeping change. When used successfully, Christensen feels that technology is a driving force behind sweeping change in healthcare.

Who Moved My Cheese? Is a simple story of four characters that live in a maze and are constantly looking for cheese. Two of the four characters are Hem and Haw, who are little people about the size of mice, they are complex people just like humans. They rely on their emotions, and experience in life to make achievements, but also like humans they can become very comfortable and be oblivious to what is happening around them. The other two characters Sniff and Scurry, are mice. They rely more on instinct and their senses to conduct everyday life. Although they are simple minded and not very smart, they do not get hung up emotionally when things work against them. They have the power of adaptation, which allows them to continually maintain a productive life no matter how things change around them.
