Literary villains are all around us. For instance, Voldemort from Harry Potter and Darth Vader from Star Wars. What makes a villain? They will go through anyone or damage anything to reach their goal. No matter how small or how tall they are, anyone can be a villain. One of the worst literary villains is Erik Fisher from Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor. He is a liar and a thief. Those traits are what makes the best villains. Throughout the book, Erik shows that he is a villain through his vile and offensive behavior, his need for power, and his insanity.
Chris McCandless, a man who went into the wilderness and died in a bus, in the cold wilderness of Alaska, after living 114 days in the Alaska cold. Though, before ending up in Alaska Chris was constantly on the move. Yet he somehow was able to meet people and befriend them. Such people were Wayne Westerberg, Jan Burres, her boyfriend Bob and finally Ronald Franz. In the end, of meeting all these people, Chris ended up leaving such a strong impression on each of them. Though why did Chris McCandless leave such a strong impression on them? Well, in the book “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer, one can read how Chris influenced people, encouraged them, how people thought he was a hard worker that lived out his own beliefs and there are many more reasons
How many individuals have gone to extreme lengths to reevaluate who they are as a person, to find their purpose? Christopher McCandless was an outrageous individual who was not afraid to push the boundaries, because of his dauntless behavior people questioned his sanity. Many people referred to Chris as a selfish person for not looking back when he decided to go into the wilderness. Christopher McCandless was not a selfish person because he has inspired many individuals to not be afraid and just go into the wild. Chris made an excellent choice by leaving; people dwell differently, on his journey he inspired many, and he hasn’t once took advantage of the opportunities he was given by those he come across in his journey. People didn’t agree with Chris’s decision to pack and leave. In chapter 8 of Into the Wild John Krakauer includes letters that he receives from people that did not agree, and believed that Chris was a selfish person Most of the letters that John Krakauer received were nasty and unnecessary; they were letters of individuals expressing their opinion on Christopher McCandless. “McCandless had already gone over the edge and just happen to hit rock bottom in Alaska.”(Jans) nobody deserves to die, especially not a horrific death like Christopher McCandless. Cristopher McCandless past because of starvation and possibly poisoned by a wrong plant he consumed. His decomposing body weighing only sixty seven pounds was discovered in the Alaska terrier inside a rustic old bus that was located twenty five miles west of Healy, and was used as a halfway boundary.. His body was discovered by a group of people, who rescued his body and found Chris. Those letters expressed the opinions of many; the people believed Chris was childish ...

Johnson’s strengths are that she has the experience of military and attended HBS, where both her leader personality and business insight were enabled. She is a “go-getter” and can “instill confidence into the people around her”, according to her colleagues and subordinates. She is also communicative, because she initiated “one-to-one” conversation with every employee, and arranged plant-wide “state of the site” meetings from quarterly to monthly. In addition, Johnson is an insightful person because she mentioned multiple times that she would not sacrifice long term interest for short term growth.
Writing a story is pretty difficult. Writing a short story is even harder, there is so much that has to be accomplished; in both commercial and literary fiction! The plot, the structure, whether it has a happy, unhappy, or indeterminate ending. There must be artistic unity, chance, coincidence, rising action, climax, falling action. Most importantly there must be characterization. Characters make the story! “anyone can summarize what a person in a story has done, but a writer needs considerable skill and insight into human beings to describe convincingly who a person is” [page 168]
Having the right mix of people as part of your management team can be critical to the overall success of a company. In the article Team Management it states, “success or failure is a result of whether people work together effectively as a team” (Davies, Margerison & McCann, 1998, p. 32). Therefore is essential that I have qualified employees as part of Beyond The Fairway management. The management team will consist of six fully qualified full time personnel. This will include: myself as owner and CEO, my eldest son as manager, one certified Professional Golf Association (PGA) golfing professional, and three qualified shop attendees who understand and loves the game of golf.
Imagine going to a place that is peaceful and quiet. A place where no one can judge you. A place where money doesn’t matter. Christopher McCandless decided to go to Alaska. I believe that McCandless was brave and courageous for going to a remote place where he could be himself.
The soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War had a very shocking experience. In Tim O’Brien’s fictional novel The Things They Carried, he discusses about his own experience and the experiences of other American soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War. O’Brien, the author of this novel plays a significant role of both the character and author. He himself is a leading character who is a Vietnam veteran and expressing his story from the past as a narrator and by creating imaginary characters in his novel. O’ Brien, explains in his novel that “In any war story, but especially a true one, it's difficult to separate what happened from what seemed to happen. What seems to happen becomes its own happening and has to be told that way” (O’Brien 57). O’Brien’s
Golf clubs are constantly making sales and buying needed supplies to keep it up and running, much like any other normal business. Golf courses also have to promote and market their club to the public. Marketing plans could range from billboards on nearby interstates to ads in the local newspaper. A golf course superintendent oversees all business roles within the club. This includes the pro shop, the golf pro, and assistants in the office. (Careers in Focus: Sports, 6) Although golf is the major sales producer, the pro shop brings in a lot of revenue as well. The pro shop is a place that everybody who comes to play golf at the club will see at some point, so that means the superintendent must maintain the shop regularly. If the superintendent forgets to check the inventory and causes the shop to have a lack of items to sell, then the clubs sales will decrease. The superintendent is also in charge of keeping the costs under control in order to maintain the given budget for the entire golf club. Whether it means finding ways to minimize prices by buying in bulk from major golf merchandise companies or just decreasing the number of items bought, it must be done regularly. (Careers in Focus: Sports, 7) Golf course superintendents also must make sure everything that’s needed for maintenance of the actual course, such as pesticides and fertilizers, are purchased on schedule. This is yet another part that must be managed in order to stay in line with the budget of the club. If a superintendent doesn’t order the pesticides or fertilizers when they’re needed, then the health of the golf course will decline. This is yet another way that shows how important a superintendent is to a golf
