Genesis is a talented student and has a very nice singing voice. However, I’m little confused with Genesis. She chooses to be in the musical and choir class, but she rarely participates and was not prepared for the musical. My hope is that she begins to invest herself in the rehearsal process so she can realize her fullest potential as a performer. Although much of the material and performance activities are new for Poppy, she has consistently demonstrated persistence and a positive attitude. Poppy seems to enjoy learning new skills and is always eager to participate in choral activities. Dominic is a quiet observer and models good behavior. He has shown steady progress in procedural activities and is gaining self-confidence as a performer. …show more content…
She listens and follows direction well and eagerly participates in all classroom activities. She has demonstrated steady progress in procedural activities and is gaining self-confidence as a performer. She was great in The Sound of Music. Although much of the material and performance activities are new for Nate, he has consistently demonstrated persistence and a positive attitude. He seems to enjoy learning new skills and is always eager to participate in choral activities. Although much of the material and performance activities are new for Meghan, she has consistently demonstrated persistence and a positive attitude. She seems to enjoy learning new skills and always eager to participate in choral activities. Meghan was a joy to work in The Sound of Music. Emma is engaged and is always eager to participate in choral activities. She has consistently demonstrated persistence and a positive attitude. I look forward to working with her in the second half of the school year. Alesandra was a joy to work with in The Sound of Music and I’m glad she decided to join the choir, where she is always engaged and eager to participate in choral activities. My hope is that she learns some music theory and how to sing in two-and three-part harmony. I look forward to working with her in the second half of the school
Many people across the world are affected every day by the gift of music. To those of us who let it into our lives, we truly view it for what it is. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes how powerful it can be. For me singing was something that I was always good at; I never really took it to heart. I never understood when people would talk about how music had changed there lives; I just didn't see how a few notes put together could affect anyone so deeply. It wasn't until last April when our choir was chosen among a select few to perform at Carnegie Hall that I would understand the indubitable impact of music.
Within school, I have participated in Glee Club/Chorus and Drama Club. I have a strong interest and love of both and hope to continue with them in the future. Last year, I had the privilege of being selected for our school's select choir, North Naturals. The Congregation Sons of Israel in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania honored us with the chance to perform at their annual Holocaust Memorial Service. The Messiah College Women's Choir also invited us to perform as a guest in their annual spring concert, in which I performed a solo, along with some members of the Women's Chorus. This year, I consider it a great prestige to say I participate in my school's select choir for ninth- and tenth-graders- Cantamos. In Drama Club, I have performed a variety
I believe our choir is filled with ambitious and talented young ladies. With confidence, focus, and the desire to succeed; I think our choir could be unstoppable. In order to perform to the best of our ability, there are a few things we need to fix in our songs.
I have played an intrinsic role in my school’s band and orchestra department through helping organizing performances, teaching classes, and tutoring individuals. On a regular basis, I am responsible for directing and teaching classes including beginning band, with grades ranging from fourth to twelfth, and more advanced ensembles like concert band and marching band. I also play an important role in their performances sometimes by directing and other times by contacting venues to organize dates and times for the shows. I also dedicate time during the week to help beginning players
On November 16th, 2013, I attended a concert choir, fall choral concert. This event took place on the Wheaton College Campus, in the Edman Chapel at 7:30 pm. The chapel was well-lit, with long pews for the audience to be seated. The concert began with the audience looking up into a balcony, where the ensemble stood in neat rows. They watched the conductor, who stood on a stage in front of the audience, waiting for their cue.
Since she started in 5th grade, music has been a huge passion for Carlee. Having been a section leader in her band since her sophomore year, Carlee has had plenty of opportunities to perform including switching from trumpet to french horn for a song in her band’s christmas concert this year. She has received
For this quarters culture project I went to go see the Fremd production of The Sound of Music. The play takes place in Austria during the time of Nazi rule. The play starts with a woman who is trying to become a nun but, all of the other nuns don't think she is capable of being one. So they send her off to be a governess to the kids of a high ranking Austrian military captain. Upon her arrival she quickly notices how strict the captain is as well as how disciplined his kids act. After the captain leaves, the governess has a chance to get to know the kids a bit better and come to realize the kids don't know what singing so her first order of business is to teach them how to sing. After this, she starts to teach and do things that would be frowned upon by the captain. Later in the play the captain returns home to find his kids singing and not wearing their uniforms. At first this upsets him very much but, he is convinced by the governess that he was being too strict and that he should interact with his kids more often. This is the point in the play that they hit to the audience that the captain and the governess start to have feelings for each other. This is also the point in the play that the captain starts drifting away from the "stay and fight mentality" rather than the "run and protect my family" mentality. Just as he was considering fleeing Austria with his family. He get commissioned by the Nazis against his will. The day before he was supposed to start working there is a culture festival which his family was going to be a part of.
I want to share with you some of the valuable lessons that I learned from being in band, and the lessons that I am thankful my daughter is learning.
Many schools today have instituted several different art programs. These programs range from music programs, both vocal and instrumental, visual art, drama and dance. The music classes encompass both vocal and instrumental teachings. Typically, children have specified music classes they ar...
Adele was diagnosed with severe laryngitis and she was ordered to rest her voice completely for 10 days (Laryngitis is swelling of the voice box, or larynx, that results in extreme hoarseness or loss of voice). Once Adele’s voice improved, she was able to speak and sing again, as long as she followed a very strict program of vocal rest, vocal warm up exercise, and very specific food and drinks. Just a few months later, in the middle of a conversation, Adele’s voice simply “switched off like a light.” Unable to speak or sing, Adele was diagnosed with a hemorrhage on her vocal cords. (A hemorrhage refers to bleeding caused by a broken blood vessel.) Adele’s doctors told her that if she continued trying to sing, she might eventually do permanent damage and lose her voice forever. Thankfully Adele healed and got to go back into
Going into middle school choir, she was already a great performer, and her choir director only pushed her further down the right path. Kelsey has been a part of the musical for four years, being a lead for two. "Being a part of the musical changed me more than I realized it would. I'm so close to everyone involved. And I learned to deal with a solid week of no sleep." Said Christian.
Music majors do have some respite from the demands of our discipline. For voice majors, there is choir. Choir provides an opportunity to learn in a more passive manner. The choir director leads the members of the choir toward the desired goal – the mastery of the piece of music to be performed. While choir members must be attentive and receptive, the burden is primarily carried by the director.
On Wednesday, May 23rd, I attended the College Choir concert in the Reamer Campus Center. The choir performed a variety of songs, ranging from pieces in Latin to traditional American folksongs. Two of the pieces featured solos, and one even featured percussion instruments. Mrs. Elinore Farnum provided piano accompaniment for each of the songs, and performed beautifully. I was extremely impressed by the talented choir members and their ability to sing such a varied range of songs.
I recently watched the 8th grade festival choir at Mary Ellen Henderson middle school. I have watched these 8th graders perform in concerts for years since 6th grade and I am currently still shocked by their performance this year. For the past years the kids in choir have struggled to sing the songs the way they imagined it sounded. I am extremely proud of the new 8th graders, I believe they have finally found the way to put on a good show, together, not individually.
Is the Shakespearean play “Macbeth” a gloomy play full of darkness and evil? Every way you look at this play it seems very dark and gloomy, whether from a historians point of view, an actors, a casual reader of plays, etc. Three of the main features that add to the dark and evil feel of this play are the atmospheric scenery, the homely and
