Country and western dance is an informal and relaxed style of dancing. It is not sloppy, but emphasizes smoothness and no hip movement. In line dancing we can see how form is a major type of movement. " The form of the dance-its details and structure-gives us insight into the subject matter. Repetition is found in the dance when the foot movements and our bodies move the same way over and over again. An example of repetition is when the dancer moves their foot a certain amount of times in and then spin; we expect to see this pattern again in the dance. Repetition creates an expectancy because viewers anticipate certain movements. In line dancing this is a major movement because the dance is structured by repetition and the use of the same movements. "Repetition or the lack of it- as in music or any serial art- becomes one of the most important structural features of the dance."(Page 259) Lastly, rhythm of the music being danced to enhances the foot movements and body movements.
During line dancing the timed movements with the music creates an energy. This energy creates a balance and understanding of the dance. For example, when the music makes a beating sound and the dancer stomps their foot in a certain way it enhances the dance. In the textbook, The Humanities, the authors state that, "Careful repetition of movements is often patterned on the repetition in the music to which the dancers perform." This statement confirms that rhythm intensifies the movements and makes the dance more powerful.
In conclusion, form, repetition, and rhythm all play a major part in country and western dancing. These movements help to create a better understanding of the dance and why the music and the body movements increase the dance performance. This social dance is a relaxing one that is easy to learn and is a healthy way to work off excess

As a society, we are constantly pairing things together in hopes of enhancing them: apple pie and ice cream, Indians and cowboys, and most relevant to this paper, music and dance. However, this may not be the case for music, even if that music is composed specifically for a dance routine. The compilation of the music and the dancing from a scene in the American cowboy ballet Rodeo will be examined to ultimately help us understand they way in which they serve each other as a unit and their ability to function independently.
The Folklorico group presentation I was honored to observed was the “Grupo Folklorico Juventud” from North Salinas High School. I decided to attend to this presentation because I use to be part of this Folklorico group. I also enjoy watching the dances for the reason that I believe they are beyond beautiful. It is amazing how a simple dance could transmit so much information while representing a region from Mexico. From my observation experienced, I noticed every region has different movements and customs for a reason. While observing the presentation I noticed most women used long skirts to create different shapes. They usually create the eight shape, half a circle or an entire circle which is created when the dancer does an entire spin while holding and moving their skirt. The skirt is also moved in different levels, such as high, medium, and low. The two levels that are used in most of the dances is the high and the medium level. While dancing the men and women usually do the same steps and movements. All the dances include “zapateados” which are known as foot dances or stomps. The “zapateados” are usually done with different parts of the feet such as the toe, heel and the sole of the feet. The dances include “zapateados” with different sections of the feet because every part creates a different sound. Most of the dances also include jumps and turns. It is extremely important for the

DANCE IN PUBLIC SCHOOL CURRICULA Dancing is a form of art that allows many children to express themselves through body motion while developing many skills. Children throughout the world have been dancing since the day they began walking. When a child takes their first steps and puts together the simplest combination of movements, that would be considered as dancing. Music also plays a major role in the development of children understanding dance, because it can be used as an accompaniment, and can help children get a better feel for the rhythm in dance. Over the past century, educators have come to the conclusion that dance serves as a form of art, and should be taught in public schools and colleges to help the growth of children of all ages both physically, mentally, and academically.
Dance, like any other art form, is constantly evolving. Its roots are planted in every place in the world. America can thank several countries for creating what the dance industry is today. I know that while I dance my heart rate rises and I get exercise. Many of my dance teachers will tell us to keep the right form until we have muscle memory or until we don’t have to think about moving our muscles in a certain way. In one of my dance classes we had a day dedicated to our bodies, seeing what parts of the body are affected by dancing. I found that we use all of our bodies in dance, so it
