1.1.1 Communication skills
From the outset, communication was integral since I was responsible for providing receptionist cover, answering calls and contacting estate agents. Initially, my communication skills were adequate. I believe communicating slowly and with confidence significantly helped me to develop my communication skills.
As my confidence increased, I was able to deal with more technical matters via the phone. For example, I was able to locate a file and provide an update on a client’s file. I am able to deal with difficult and stressful conversations with clients by remaining calm and professional. As my placement progressed, I was delegated tasks with more

1.1.2 Teamwork
I believe my positive attitude towards work and helping others allowed me to work effectively as part of a team. I was proactive and always asked my senior colleagues if they required any assistance. This attitude allowed me to carry out important duties such as drafting pre contract enquiries and analysing office copies. Moreover, I was happy to help staff members in other departments such as Criminal and Family. I have collated bundles for the family department and assisted in the archiving process for the criminal department.
The senior members of my team recognised how effectively I am able to work within a team. Consequently, I was requested to work in the Beaconsfield office to assist other solicitors with their workload. The significant transition is demonstrated on my final SAF report as I was given a

My experience an educational assistant has been both challenging and rewarding. For example, Some students were certainly challenging to work with as they gave off a hue of discomfort and disinterest. During one class period, I was tasked with helping a student finish his Algebra assignment that required him to solve for variables on a worksheet. The student did not understand the assignment and was clearly reluctant to complete it, despite already being late to turn it in. I was able to demonstrate patience by spending two whole block periods with the student while working on the assignment until he was able to grasp the concepts being taught. During this experience, I tried not to appear demanding or frustrated since I knew this would only discourage the student from trying. Instead, I
I think it is important to experience both ends of the communication spectrum in order to really appreciate the benefits of having good communication skills. After observing and writing this paper, it really pushes me to better my own skills, and appreciate those of others.
The ability to communicate efficiently is an important facet of professionalism that one should embrace as a student and seek to carry it forward into their future when they are practicing professionals. Communication is important in the establishment of good
Within my placement organisation, staff members will generally work as part of a team as well as having an individual role. For the team to be efficient all members must know their own role within the team, liaise with each other, and look to improve individual strengths and weaknesses. This collaboration helps to build a successful team, built on trust and effective communication.
This reflective essay has critically reviewed my personal and professional skills that are essential for communication and developing positive relationships with others. It has discussed the skills identified in the skills audit that I needed more confidence in for communication and effective relationships. It has finally linked two communication theories to both skills
As I open the glass doors and step into Palmieri Tyler Law firm, I can still feel that rush of excitement I felt since day one. Working at Palmieri Tyler Law firm has been both rewarding and a privilege. I still remember my first day as an intern, as I walked in, I was rapidly introduced to a respectful paralegal who was working on a major project. As we shared a few words she then asked for my help and so I began my first project at the law firm. I was responsible for creating new labels for her folders and re-organizing the files effectively in order to create a more efficient filing system.
What have you done in the past to contribute toward a teamwork environment? Currently I work on smaller teams of entrepreneurial minded people striving to lay the groundwork for solid business foundation. We produce work that is goal oriented and I give to the balance of ideas so results can only be delivered by committee. I use my strengths in full as an integral part of this team, which helps to compensate for each other's weaknesses. For example, recently one of my partners was having some difficulty conceiving a promotional item that needed to get out quickly. I suggested a few things to get him stimulated. My different personality type balanced and complemented his, as we worked to meet the deadlines. The result was something neither of us expected and was roundly complimented for its scope and creativity. This assignment was definitely his responsibility to complete, however I deemed it in both of our interests to get something real done, otherwise the overall success of the business could be hurt, thus affecting me and my co-workers. Another good example of my contribution to teams would be my volunteered effort with various community organizations. Recently I attended an open orientation for people who were interested in starting community gardens. During the course of the event I met with like-minded but diverse people. We developed a plan to raise funds and work toward the goal of establishing a sustainable community garden. My contribution was and now is to offer clarity in who is responsible for what and avoid overlapping authority. I noticed a risk recently where two team members were competing for control of a certain area. My solution was to divide that area into two distinct parts and give each complete control in ...
While there I consolidated my knowledge on conferencing, criminal law, case preparation, filing claims in the court, land law and Trust, among other skills. These skills set were further augmented by working at the Ministry of Agriculture. At the Ministry of Agriculture I am the legal advisor to the Minister. In addition in my spare time, I do pro buno work with Mr. Israel Bruce legal chambers, performing the similar duties to that which I did at Counsel James Chambers. To a large extent I continued with my career and am functioning substantially in the manner I would have had I passed the bar.
This has amply reflected in my consistently brilliant career, always executing my duties and accountabilities with excellence and tenacity. My strong analytical and problem
Communicating effectively and in a professional manner is not only important in how other people view us; it could determine which jobs we are able to obtain as employer Kevin Weins brought out. Everyone can benefit from trying to communicate more effectively. Trying to improve my own communication skills has helped me in my own life and career and can help other people in their own careers and in their daily life.
Securing a work experience placement with Withers Solicitors, London enabled me to interact with solicitors and gain an insight to various aspects of the legal profession such as will drafting and family law. This increased my anxiety to study law. During my last spring holiday (April 2001), I got a job working as a receptionist in Chalk Hill Heath Centre, Wembley, London. Apart from the dignity of labour I gained from doing the work, the experience of working with a wide variety of patients including the obdurate has improved my communication skills.
