Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.
I believe the fields of engineering and computer science have had a marked, positive impact on the world and opportunities for continued progress are unlimited. My strengths and natural curiosity lie in the STEM field and I look forward to contributing to future endeavors. Given my affinity for computing and mathematics and interest in continued study in related fields, it was a natural fit for me to apply to the University of Texas at Austin due to the strong reputation of its STEM academics. UT Austin’s program in computer science, my area of interest, is among the top-ranked

As captain, my key responsibility is to lead the development of competition strategy. Other duties past and present consist of programming, designing, and driving. In the four years of my membership, our club has made remarkable progress. Not only has it doubled in membership, but we have transitioned from a novice group with no wins, to a more-engaged team that now consistently places among the top in our area. The change has been a rewarding one for all. Like any start-up organization, we faced challenges. Fortunately, our team had a cooperative and open environment, along with a dedication to work together to advance each other’s skills and knowledge for mutual …show more content…
Running is a passion of mine, in particular long distance events. I enjoy the sport’s combination of team-spirit and personal endurance challenge. Of my non-academic extracurricular activities, my role as Senior Class Officer is one I am proudest of as it enables me to contribute to the overall community, further developing my leadership skills, and I am honored by the trust of my classmates who elected me. Involvement in our broader communities is an important part of personal development. Since the age of 16, I’ve volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, working on construction projects to building affordable housing in our community. I look forward to continue with similar activities as I explore the multiple facets of UT Austin campus
When I found out that I was one of the captains of the Varsity Sideline team, I had a beaming smile and felt satisfied with my achievement. As captain, cheerleaders on the varsity and the JV squads come to me with questions and small issues, and I enjoy the opportunity to help them. I have become even more organized and mature because the coach looks to me for help. Being selected as lead captain has had many rewards, it gave me a boost of confidence and inspired me to campaign for other leadership
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a captain just like my older sister. Back then I thought it was just a cool label, but in my past three years as a TCHS cheerleader I have quickly learned the amount of dedication and hard work this position entails. I qualify for being a captain because I have a good attitude, work well with others, and always put in an effort to work hard.
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a
Teams have become integral parts and driving forces of success in organizations. A key common attribute among highly
Needless to say, I understood why I was chosen as captain. I proved to everyone that I was in fact ready to take on this role. I thank my teammates and coaches for giving me the opportunity to show them that I was able to be a role model for the team. It made me realize that anything is possible regardless of how hard it might be there
Taking these opportunities in competitions and the classroom has required a great deal of dedication on my part. Proof of my dedication to academic excellence can be seen through my accomplishments and awards. I received the class awards for both Physics and Accounting, and have also been a part of the Number Sense Team went to the Regional UIL Tournament for 2 years in a row. The accomplishment I am most proud of is my acceptance into my school's chapter of the National Honor's Society. My membership holds me to a higher standard of excellence that I use as motivation to continue striving for my ultimate goal of having a positive impact on society. My extra-curricular activities have also aided me in pursuing my goal. My participation in Student Council and other organizations in which I am an officer has taught me valuable, life-long lessons in leadership and collaboration. These assets and others have also been developed through my participation in my schools volleyball, basketball, and tennis programs. Through sports I have learned the incredible feats that can be accomplished through hard work, self-discipline, and
For many new ventures, the entrepreneurial team is often considered one of the most important factors that determine the success of the business (Sahlman). A breakthrough idea or brilliant new market opportunity cannot be built nor sustained without a “superb entrepreneur” and the support of a “first-rate team”, which appeals to both investors outside the company and propagates a strong culture inside the organization (Bygrave). As demonstrated in the film, Startup.com, human capital not only consists of individual skills to produce an entrepreneurial idea, but it also encompasses the necessary social networks and team dynamics needed for collaborative tasks to sustain an opportunity. The documentary provides a rare and intimate look at govWorks,
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.

Reflecting on some of the extra-curricular activities I have engaged in these past two years
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. For example, I am the current treasurer of (FBLA) The Future Business Leaders of America, Member of (DECA) it 's an international association for marketing that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality and management. Additionally, I am an active member with Upstanders, a club that stands up against bullying and hate; (ASA) The African Student Association and the National Art Honor Society. I am also on the football and track teams. Track is a very competitive sport; it teaches me to endure and prepare me for the competitive real world. All of these extra-curricular activities are preparing me for future obstacles on my collegiate
Before attending Triton College, I made an effort to be involved in extracurricular activities while attending East Leyden High School. I played first doubles in the Tennis Varsity Team until senior year, when I also became the team captain. I had also made it to the Cross-Country Varsity to run long distance. I participated in various clubs and the like. While at Triton College, I continued to participate in many clubs and organizations that the campus had to offer, including the Program Board to help make events, I became a Student Ambassador, a member of the honors society of Phi Theta Kappa, and then set my interests in the student government – the Triton College Student Association (TCSA).
There are some goals that we cannot achieve in our lifetimes, but we still view as important pursuits. Although these goals may at first seem as though they are dependent on future generations, upon closer examination, one can see that it is their intrinsic value that makes them worthwhile. For example, many people dedicate their lives to projects whose goals seem long off. These projects can include those that are not completed yet but have a distinct end goal. We may not have the necessary technology for them, such as traveling to other galaxies, or we may recognize that it will take a long time to complete, such as finding cures to all forms of cancer.
Over the past year I have been engaged in so many activities that I cannot even count or remember. I was forced to do some, like my homework or take exams. Nonetheless, one major experience I enjoyed was being the Cultural chair of the International Student Association (ISA). My involvement in the Association has given me confidence as well as leadership opportunity that every person should have.
