Over the past year I have been engaged in so many activities that I cannot even count or remember. I was forced to do some, like my homework or take exams. Nonetheless, one major experience I enjoyed was being the Cultural chair of the International Student Association (ISA). My involvement in the Association has given me confidence as well as leadership opportunity that every person should have. During my high school, prefects were selected based on both academic and character. I had always dreamed of being the senior prefect for the girls, yet I never bothered to understand the responsibilities that came with the position. I worked hard on both my grades and character and I became the senior prefect. My responsibilities included; making sure the girls kept their dormitory clean at all times, making sure contrabands …show more content…
Over the past year I joined the International Student Association (ISA) as the Cultural Chair, some of my responsibilities include serving International Students at KU by granting the platform for students to share their diverse lifestyles with other students at KU, in addition to helping internationals feel welcome on campus. The main purpose of ISA is to promote International activity on campus and provide the resources for the international students to represent their countries to KU. I also volunteered during the summer orientation for international students where I met some nice people and built friendships. I have also been able to volunteer in some events like the engineering expo, where I was to work with a group of people to make sure the event which involved a lot of kids from middle school and high school, come around to learn some information about engineering went as
In my junior year of high school, I joined the leadership program called ASB, also known as associated student body. I had the honor and role of being the school’s unofficial videographer to promote events with videos and short films posted on our social media sites because of my passion for video editing and artistic abilities. I also became responsible as being chairman for one of our committees to organize special recognition events for our senior athletes. ASB made my work stressful and challenging, but it was a good way to connect with others.
Since my first visit at the Air Force Academy as a young boy, I instantly realized this is where I want to go. Ironically, I never why I wanted to go, was it my parents will or the expectations of others and myself? As I started to mature and grow, I learned more about the academy and what it really meant to become a cadet. The opportunity to have a world class education pushed me to pursue acceptance to the Academy. Going to the Summer Seminar will give me a chance to explore many aspects of cadet life to further enrich my interest in the Academy.
Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning
The election night of 2000 was a pivotal moment in my life. I stayed up all night on November 7th, 2000, not because I was enthralled with watching Florida flip-flop between Gore and Bush, but because I had an IV in my arm which made it impossible to be comfortable. Earlier that evening, I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes, a disease affecting 1 of 800 people in America. This was an especially crucial time in my life, considering I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis—an autoimmune disease that attacks the GI track in 1 of 1400 Americans—the June before, and I had my Bar-Mitzvah in September. According to the Jewish religion, I had become an adult, and as such, I had decided to greet my new medical challenges with gusto, attempting to see the silver lining from the very beginning. I cannot say that I am glad I was nature’s statistical anomaly, but I am thankful for the opportunity to see from a young age how to turn a tough situation into a positive. After almost nine years, I come back to this pivotal night in my life because it marked a change that still plays a part in my life now, and will continue to shape me in the future.
The United States has been shaped by immigration since the first new arrivals arrived over 400 years ago. Immigration has been a powerful force that is responsible for how the United Sates has become a powerful force they are today, it has contributed a lot to the many social, political and economic processes that have formed the United States as a nation.
Among every other country in the world, the United States of America is where people feel the most comfortable place to come and live a better life. Immigrants are people who leave their counties to reside in other counties that are rich and safe to better themselves. Every year people immigrate to the USA for many reasons. Many people are having difficulty living in their native country such as over population, jobless which make the economy so hard. People from outside of the United States think there is peace, love, equality, free education, jobs, good food to stay healthy, but most importantly freedom of speech to express yourself in America. Today, I will only focus on some reasons why people in my country immigrates to America. This is
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
The challenging family situation I would like to share with you is our move from Korea to the United
Being an international student is exciting. It offers a lot of exposure and scope for improvement. Canada has a lot of institutions that accept foreign students, but before that, the practical difficulties an international student might face in the country should be noted.

I signed up for a ghost story and got more a psychological thriller. Not that I'm complaining too much, as there was more than enough horror elements to still qualify as horror. Adaline has a good sense of dread the permeates the film, though it does get uneven and unfocused at times. Adaline's main issue is it tries to many things at once, is a ghost story, a murder mystery and has a large does of thriller. But never manages to nail down anyone aspect enough to stay interesting and unfortunately spends a sizable portion of its time just meandering, never really advancing the story.
“The struggles you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.” Knowing that my family originated from India, I always dreamt of experiencing the life they lived. However, I did not expect my visit to come so early on in life. I flew to India when I was about six or seven, and spent two years there; enjoying the atmosphere my parents grew up in. Although, the overall outcome of my trip was astounding, I faced many hardships that have augmented1 my self-confidence and taught me vital life skills.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
